I absolutely understand her problems 100% I'm not extremely overweight but have been bullied and felt those "EYES" on me my entire life.
I don't want too sit at a table in public spaces.
You also have too keep in mind that "health food" is expensive and most people who are already feeling like they are being watched are "expected" to make poor food choices and when they don't people will most often snigger at it and vocalise so that everyone can hear them making fun of you. "Eating celery won't help much now!"
