Great review. I have had mine for about 2 days and have testing it out with my Leica Rs, my vintage Nikkors and with some modern glass. I think the moment compares really nicely with the Aivascope 1.5x I used to have which is pretty insane being that the Aivascope cost me 3x as much as the Moment did. I was also a little turned off at first at such a light squeeze of 1.33x but the bokeh to my eye appears to be a little more elongated than I would normally expect 1.33x to have. The Amber flares are also nice and have great secondaries and texture to them. Some of the modern budget anamorphic lenses like the Suiri and Loawa Nanomorphs have flares that feel very flat - almost more like a flare filter. I have been using it on my Red Komodo in R3D and Fuji X-H2s as ProRes RAW. Resolve and FCPX both import the anamorphic footage desqueezed already as part of the R3D raw file very close to the 2.4.1 aspect ratio. The Apple ProRes raw files have to be manually desqueezed but that’s simple enough. The adapter holds geometry and squeeze ratio very nicely at both ends of its focus range which is more than I can say about the Suiri lenses I have owned in that past. Great review + subscribed
Also forgot to mention 2 things. Infinity focus an the taking lenses is not always the sharpest. Sometimes to achieve critical focus it may be a hair prior to infinity focus with some lenses. I have found that It’s a good idea to test this out and note it on my taking lenses. Last notes are that the widest on s35 sensors I have been able to clear without vignetting is 35mm and the max is 135mm true to what moment list the range at. My RED is s35 and my Fuji x-H2s has opengate that’s a little larger than s35 and both with well within those ranges. Last note is that if your using a focal reducer like the metabones etc the adapter is not compatible. I’m my test I was unable to get the moment to focus when used with a speed booster/ focal reducer.
thanks so much for watching, Jordan! totally agree about being surprised by the bokeh with this adapter, my sirui 1.33x anamorphic lens definitely doesn’t produce pronounced ovals like this. and thank you for these great tips! i’ll pin your comment so others can also benefit from your advice :D

@@kendrasananikone darn that is a bummer. I was afraid it might affect AF but wasn’t sure too because the connection of the lens is still intact. Thanks for confirming though
You can always use something like the DJI LiDAR based AF module to add AF if your dying to have AF. You’d also need to add a focus gear to the anamorphic adapter. I did this with the Aivascope I use to have. I’m going to be measuring the barrel of my moment this week to figure out what size gear I’m going to need for it in order to pull focus wirelessly. My experience is that this works well!
Hi there, thank you for the video, very interesting adapter. I actually hava a couple of questions if you'd be willing to help me out. I shoot on a Canon EOS 100D and I have three different lenses: a EFS 18-135mm 0.39/1.3ft, EFS 10-18mm 9,22m/0,7ft and a EF 50mm 1:1.8 STM 0,35m/1.1ft-∞. I was wondering if these adapter would work with the Gear I already have ?
yes, it will definitely work on your 50mm and your 18-135mm zoomed in. i believe there will be vignetting at wider focal lengths such as your 10-18mm lens, i added a link in the description to the product where you can find their chart that lists out in detail what the minimum focal length compatibility is. thanks for watching!
I'd increase the depth of field to say T/2.8 - T/5. As the image gets wider, the bokeh gets uglier with such shallow depth of field at such wide aspect ratio. On top of that you get visible vignetting. There's a reason and place for straight 50mm focal length.
The plant looks like a mistletoe. Mistletoe is semi-parasitic and can damage trees so much that they die. Mistletoe should definitely not be grown in the garden, but removed from trees.

Awesome review. Would this adapter work well with a 35mm field of view on a Sony FX3? I currently have both the Zeiss 55mm and Sony 35mm 1.8 and would like to try it on both.
thanks for watching! 35mm would have a lot of vignetting on the FX3, the recommended minimum focal length for this adapter on a FF camera is at least 50mm. fwiw, i really enjoy the look of it on the 55mm! www.shopmoment.com/products/anamorphic-lens-adapter they have a handy chart here at the bottom of this page that shows focal length compatibility for the adapter!
Just curious what day you got it and if you were the very first Becker? Really great footage by the way, the show the characteristics of your 50 on the anamorphic.
thanks for watching! no i was not the very first backer haha but i was part of the super early bird group. i received my adapter on weds the 1st
can you test with helios 44 ?
sure thing! i’ll try and shoot that this week
Far out, your test footage looks so good. How's pulling focus with it?
thank you! pulling focus is very nice and smooth!
@@kendrasananikone do you think the throw is long enough to the point you feel you would need a follow focus solution in the long term?
Hi! nice video... if i use a 24mm the image will be vignetted?
thanks for watching! yes the image will be vignetted at 24mm on a full frame camera. www.shopmoment.com/products/anamorphic-lens-adapter you can check out the focal length compatibility chart if you scroll to the bottom of this page here!
Looks fantastic! Does it work with any focal length taking lens?
www.shopmoment.com/products/anamorphic-lens-adapter there’s a chart here, if you scroll all the way down, that shows which focal lengths work on which sensors!
@@kendrasananikone Thank you!!
Wow beautiful test footage! That 55mm paired with the 1.33 takes it to another level. I subbed and would love to connect!
thank you! totally agree, can't wait to create more with this combo.
i'd love that as well, i'm a huge fan of your work and sunny sixteen!
If i want to shoot a 4:3 video with anamorphic lens and desqueeze it to 16:9, instead of 21:9, which anamorphic lens do i need to choose, 1.33 or 1.55?
i'm sorry i have no idea and i don't want to give you an uneducated response lol😅
Hello :) Nice review ! By any chance could you tell me which « cage »/« rig » I could use for a Sony Alpha 7 IV + the 50mm + Anamorphic adapter ? Because that thing is pretty heavy handled :/
thank you! i personally use a smallrig for my own setup!
this is the cage i use (it's compatible with the a7iv and also on sale rn!): partner.shopmoment.com/c/3917540/788580/11129?prodsku=2999&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.shopmoment.com%2Fproducts%2Fsmallrig-camera-cage-for-sony-a7s-iii%2F&intsrc=PUI2_5677
and i just use smallrig rails and baseplate like this:

amzn.to/42pIXM9
hope this helps!
@@kendrasananikone Hi from Paris, France :) Thx Kendra for taking the time and giving those tips… This is really helpful . … When using the adapter in Photo mode,
I understand that the image you get in the camera's LCD screen is compressed… So I guess it's not practical or impossible (?) to do a manual focus when stretched.
I should use a remote monitor that stretches the image on the fly, would you have by any chance a brand I could look at ? (and I won't ever bother you again ;)
@@betterburnout of course! sorry for the late reply, i haven't been on youtube for a few days. i personally use an atomos shinobi: amzn.to/403RsuG
and it has great color accuracy and brightness when shooting outdoors! feel free to ask questions haha i encourage them, thanks again for watching :) all the way from paris too haha so cool!
@@kendrasananikone :) Yes I especially like the encounters we can make from so far away, it's one of the nice things about the web / Thanks again for this information ✨🌸
@@betterburnout same here! no problem :)
is it possible to have autofocus work from the native lens without having to touch the anamorphic adapter?
unfortunately, no, not without buying additional gear like the dji lidar range finder :(
Were you wide open on the 55 1.8?
yes!
@@kendrasananikone cool! Have you tried it on a longer taking lens like a 75mm or 100mm wide open? Any samples?
Hi ! Can I use an adapter if I have a lens with a 82mm filter size? Is there vignetting at 55mm on a Zeiss lens?
yes you can use this adapter with 82mm, there are step down rings included with the adapter (82mm included)! and no there is no vignetting at 55mm. www.shopmoment.com/products/anamorphic-lens-adapter here at the bottom of the page there is a chart that shows the compatible focal lengths!
Definitely considering buying it. Does autofocus still works?
unfortunately, no it doesn’t :( but it’s very smooth to manually focus fwiw!
@@kendrasananikone darn that is a bummer. I was afraid it might affect AF but wasn’t sure too because the connection of the lens is still intact. Thanks for confirming though
@@SJYangProduction of course! it would be amazing if it was af tho haha
Thank you very much for your answer !! @@kendrasananikone
Mmmm… there’s no focus breathing…. That’s interesting. Might end up getting this
right?? i've been pretty impressed with this adapter. if you end up getting it, lmk how you like it!
I'd increase the depth of field to say T/2.8 - T/5. As the image gets wider, the bokeh gets uglier with such shallow depth of field at such wide aspect ratio. On top of that you get visible vignetting. There's a reason and place for straight 50mm focal length.
Lol, the bokeh looks awesome that's actually the only reason I want this adapter, i don't even care about the flares
Imagine that lens on a Helios 442 OMG
gonna try that this week! :D
@@kendrasananikone I would like to see the results
cool but turns everything softer
Most anamorphics are softer. Most people prefer it.
The plant looks like a mistletoe. Mistletoe is semi-parasitic and can damage trees so much that they die. Mistletoe should definitely not be grown in the garden, but removed from trees.
thanks for the info, i appreciate it! will definitely remove it from the tree haha
Seriously $1,299 … For this price I prefer to buy Sirui 25mm + 50mm not this thing - Ridiculous
fix the audio please
the audio is great.
