      I know this is an old video but as a budding amateur home bartender, I'm curious if you can sub cognac for brandy in any of these specs? I know cognac is brandy but I'd be interested in knowing how it compares to American brandy. Eventually planning to pick up a bottle of martel vs for brandy forward cocktails. Thanks.

    In Ireland we have a version of the Sangaree which is commonly known as a Brandy and Port, and it's a very popular drink in the colder months as you'd expect. Typically the barman will just pour a measure of Brandy and hand you the bottle of Port to pour however much you want, and that's it. Most people would have it neat at a 2 to 1, Brandy to Port, ratio. Personally I like a 50:50 split with 2 or 3 ice cubes to take the edge off, and it pairs very very well with a pint of stout, preferably Beamish!
    Love the videos, you guys have really opened up a world of cocktails for people!

    I love your TH-cam channel and I will definitely buy some Argonaut brandy to try it. Thanks Argonaut for sponsoring his video!! I do, however, want to share some of my knowledge and experience. I am a sidecar nerd and have spent many years, and liver cells, perfecting the sidecar...at least for my palette, and all my friends’. My sidecar is mad thus: 1oz Pierre Ferrand Ambre cognac, 1oz Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao, and 1oz fresh squeezed lemon juice. Shake over ice for 10 seconds and pour into a frosted coupe or Nick and Nora. No sugar rim because I prefer a drier cocktail. I promise you, this is awesome. I don’t think the Pierre Ferrand 1840 is good enough, the Ambre is, and any of the higher grades are better drank straight. The Ambre is “the bee’s knees”.

    I exist thanks to the Sidecar.
    My Grandparents worked at the same resort during the summer to get through college. My grandmother had a few too many sidecars one night while the staff was enjoying a friday night after work. My Grandfather offered to escort her back to the female dorms and risked getting in trouble getting her to her room. The rest is history.
    Now that she is gone, I make Sidecars on her birthday in honor of her.

    Fantastic episode, guys!! The drinks look and sound amazing, and this is perfectly timed with my new bottle of Speculator! I love the editing and the music and pretty much everything about it. Except one small thing.... I would love it if, on these multiple drink shows, either after the drink is made or as a group at the end, give the recipe card like you do for single drink shows. I like to take screenshots of them and then save them in an album for easy dial-up when I'm looking for a cocktail to make. This one doesn't have any specs at all, so I'll have to dial each one up and write them down. 😢 I know... Sucks to be me. My life is so hard! Oh boo hoo! 😂

  • @davidmills7046

    Really love the deep dive on the Brandy. I have to say, because it's sponsored, I'm hesitant to use this Brandy. As someone trying to build a bar I really don't want to buy a particular Brady simply because they were paying you to showcase it. Then again I've never gotten into Brandy and probably wouldn't know a good one from a bad one.
    At any rate I'll keep this one on my "need to try list" and pick one up that is more universally agreed upon as a "good one".
    Still working my way through your video's but it would be great for all of us amateurs for you to do a "best three" bottles video. Come up with your best three bottles from each class of liquor. Have the best 'budget', 'over priced', and best 'for the money' variations. Just an idea, you might have already done something similar and I haven't seen it yet.
    Anyway, love the channel and content. Keep up the great work.

    • @JasminMiettunen
      @JasminMiettunen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t know anything either, but I've watched a lot of videos on what brandy to use in cocktails, so basically you'd want VSOP. Brands I see recommended a lot are Pierre Ferrand, Paul Masson, Hennessy and H by Hine. Again, this was from cocktail videos, I don’t know if they make good sippers, if that’s what you’re looking for.
