3:33 - this "super tight peel" on a lemon got me into a hospital one day because of a really bad cut. This was one of my few bad days behind the bar. Still finished the shift though. Great episode with excellent cocktails, once again! Cheers!
You're the only bartender I have seen on TH-cam who almost consistently double strains his mixes. I like that. If I wanted a Slurpee, I'd go to a 7-11.
Yessss 4 new cocktails to try!!! Plus I think I have most of the stuff! Great shaking! Might have to get a Metal shake shirt even thought I just got two other ones in.....
I cannot wait to try EVERY. ONE. OF. THESE!! I don't typically like nogs (something odd with me and creamy cocktails), but the chocolate, chili and mezcal all sound so good together. Awesome video!!
I just got a copy of this for Christmas - an excellent addition to my homebar & cocktail book collection. >>> I just made a drink from there I'd never had before "Boston Flip", >> demerara simple, egg, Rainwater Madera & rye, (nutmeg).... so yummy. Cheers.
Anytime that you are adding beer into a cocktail you tickle my interest, The Detroiter has got to have an interesting texture to it. That third one which I cannot pronounce looks like a variation of the long island iced tea obviously cause of the coke. Loved this video.
It's always a good video when I've got the ingredients to make a cocktail, and an even better video when it contains a perishable ingredient I was worried was going to go bad before I could use it all up.
Nice reuse of the fever tree bottles for the lemon juice... I do the same for citrus, and simple syrup, I use the corks from Haymans Gin for caps! Works just fine!
Hey man! I love the depth of your videos! I'm just starting out, slowly building a home bar. No previous bartending experience but I always had a thing for cocktails. I've been watching your videos more and more often, and I like the idea of telling a little history about the drink you're making. I kinda stole that idea haha! It's awesome to keep friends entertained while making their drinks. Tho sometimes it doesn't come together as I wish it would, but practice makes the master, right? Anyway, I absolutely love your videos, and your personality! Keep up the good work, and the cocktails pouring!
The description says the Cuba Libre Preparado is garnished with a "Mint Wedge"? I cannot at all imagine what Coke and gin taste like together, so I think I've gotta try to make this one for sure
I know it's been this way a month or so now - Not just the compilation videos, but loving the evolved format. Some great editing Marius! Also, nice to see Apple 86 - such a great half price alternative to the bonded.
As always, nice video - could you call out the brands of some of the less common ingredients? I’m looking to try some more Nonico and didn’t catch what it was called and the (Nocino in particular) labels are hard to decipher.
without, you don't want the bitter elements in your juice. But if you're not making a lot of cocktails in one sitting or for a lot of people you should just squeeze fresh with a hand juicer
I have just a dumb question.. A cocktail like a Boston Sour for example.. Is that a Sour AND a Nog ? Is a White Russian a Nog too when it's only a float of heavy cream. What about the Irish Coffee served with cream ? 🙄 Sorry, I'm just a bit confused now 😂
The internal logic we developed says those cases where it could go one way or another depend on the amount of that element in the drink (egg, lengthener, etc) and what the experience of the drink is like. It all makes sense, pretty much. 😂
Just as a note to less familiar viewers: while most Islay's are famous for their peated goodness such as Laphroaig, Lagavulin or Ardbeg, not all Islay's are peated and won't give the FLW quite the "Wright" flavor if they aren't.
You mention a “Cuban style rum” as a substitute to actual Cuban rum. We do not have Cuban rum where I live, what would you recommend as a good “Cuban style rum” that is relatively easy to fine
Mr Leandro, I have a question for you, that Detroiter looks incredible btw, just wondering if I can’t find Applejack, what could I use to replace it? Also I’m assuming that IPA is different depending how the company that made it, so what is a good rule of thumb for making sure that it’s not going to overpower the drink? Great job as always. Cheers mate.
You can use Calvados VSOP in place of applejack. As for the IPA pick something lighter with fruit notes and you should be good. No double ipas or anything
@@TheEducatedBarfly Interesting, I've never heard of Calvados before, but it sounds like something I gotta hit the market for. Thank you good sir, you're my favourite mixology/bartender personality on on youtube, keep up the great work. (BTW, I'm looking forward to you doing some Canadian Cocktail recipes/ideas.)
That one was a toss-up until we reasoned it through. Ultimately, the experience of drinking it was still Sour-like in character and not predominately thick. The egg feels like an accent / garnish rather than an integral part of the drink.
Zup, dude, I'm from México and we don't say "coca de cola" hahah we just say "coca" o "coquita" wich it is the translate of little coke, cheers from Michoacán, I love your videos
Hahah that's good, when you said "coca de cola" I was about to hit my phone, thanks for the videos, you are some of the reasons I started making cocktails

Why does "A Sling, a Sour, a Grog and a Nog" sound like the best children's book of all time
With those little characters they had as the People in the book. I would read that! To my kid of course...Yea my kid...
I love this comment
Appreciate you explaining the meaning of the grog/nog/sour/sling
Very well done! I backed the day Home Bar Basics 3rd Edition was announced and absolutely cannot wait.
So glad to see the Detroiter on this channel. I made it with Pliny the Elder and it changed my life.
ALL of these drinks look so tasty!!! Can't make them soon, but when I get settled up north, I can't wait!

Sounds tasty! I love the interplay of strong flavors represented here.

are there supposed to be angostura bitters in the cuba libre preperado?
There can be!

Yup
Is there a reason other than presentation for adding ice above the "water line" when you are making a stirred cocktail?

Calvados or Apple Brandy

A grog is any drink (historically rum or whiskey) lengthened with water and often sweetened
