Omg! I can’t believe people’s obsession with TVs!! I had the same thing! In my RV life I totally got used to no TV screen. I use my iPad or my phone to watch anything, and people are completely freaked out that I don’t watch a giant television for HOURS every day. It blows my mind. RV life made me a minimalist who loves outdoor adventures, and when I am indoors I am making Art. I am not currently full timing in an RV anymore, but I still live my same minimalist lifestyle and my friends and family do not understand at all.
You are entited to have your home anyway you want. What works for some may not work for others. Your suggestions are awesome. Safe travels. God Bless and l love yall 💕💕💕
Thanks so much! We appreciate your watching.
I pulled all three(?!?!) TVs down and have been repurposing their homes. The outside TV has become a tool locker. The TV over the dinette became a swing out computer monitor, mini library, and craft storage area. The master TV is becoming an equipment nook, with a 3d printer, photo printer, and all-in-one laser printer.
Nice!
Great use of the spaces! I agree that there are a lot of tvs in new RVs…the bigger they are, the more TVs there are!
Tool locker is a great idea!
It seems odd that they are putting so many TV's in. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like most people would want less TV's nowadays. I do like those TV's that come up out of the table. I also like projectors because you can take them outside and project them on a sheet hung on the RV and have outdoor movie nights.
I would do the induction stove and just have a propane camp stove I could use outside if I was boondocking and wanted to save power. I would love to have a dishwasher!
Get an Aurora Luxe split Cal King mattress that is 36x84. Put it on a platform with pull-out drawers and cantilever it to fit the space as necessary. Get pillows for the back and have a washable cover made for it to make a couch but one that even a tall person could sleep on. Tell RV Mattress how you plan to use the Aurora Luxe mattress(es) and that it will enhance your ability to advertise for them. If they get the idea they might even give you the mattress. BTW: You could also consider building a trundle-type bed and having two mattresses in that space just in case you have guests. (Have the frame/support built with the needed ductwork.) Either idea would work. What do YOU think?
Yes. Day bed with a privacy curtain as your daughter gets into her teen years.
Whats important is that the renovations work for you! We've switched ours all around too. We actually purchased theater seating loveseat from Big Lots. It was much lighter weight than the RV couch, and so much more comfortable. We removed our televator/buffet/table and flipped the floor plan around. Theres now a dog bed with a smart TV hung over it and our couch is on the opposite side. We have a lot more floor space now. We used a collapsible table for eating. Its unfortunate you heat duct is thru the couch, maybe a day bed would be good. Then you can build storage underneath around the venting.
👍🏻
Our last motorhome had no tv either and we didn't miss it a bit. As you said we watch stuff on our tablets so why waste the space.
Thanks guys for the tour!
Thanks for watching
Love the daybed idea but yeah, a lot of people are surprised that my kids and I have had no real use for a TV. I had several beautiful large tv's and no one hardly ever watched them cause they could watch on a device. So we have been TV free for 2 years and we do not miss them!
👏🏻
Great video and nice review of your upgrades. Gives me ideas for my new 2007 Class A.
Taking out the propane stuff was absolutely brilliant and great for safety. Love your really well thought out ideas.
Thank you!
Great video!!! I love your renovations 😊
Thanks so much!
Another awesome video! You do what you feel you need to for your RV in order to live comfortably and safely. 🙂
Thanks!
Love your upgrades! Our new to us RV has 1 induction burner and 1 propane burner and 12v fridge. We don’t miss the oven and fridge is always cold with the solar. Love your ideas 👏🏻
💙
Stove option is replacing the oven combo with just a propane cook top only.
Love y’all’s videos please keep it up the videos are always great and definitely helps
Thanks for watching
I can’t believe NOT having a TV is controversial? I have very little need for a Tv!
I love all your mods! Good job! I love your life - I might be confessing some envy.
💙
We removed the TVs also, I like your ideas on using the space above the windshield. .The area behind the passenger seat (where your sofa is now)we did an TV lift cabinet that I build at a campground and 9- 1 foot square storage cubes 18" deep attached to the TV cabinet, unless the TV is up we still have the window view. It also doesn't impede the walk way when sled in.
Nice!
We’re planning on buying a travel trailer soon and your videos have been SO SO helpful. I’ve watched more than I can count to try and prepare. Thank you so much!!!
Happy to help! Safe travels and maybe we will see you out there
Great!!
We have been RV’ing since ‘95, then we went to TTs (3 of them) since 2000.
Hint 1) set up as much food planning ahead of time. My most favorite thing is to put cleaned & washed chicken in a zip bag, add BBQ (or other marinade) in the bag… mix and freeze it flat in your freezer. Time to fill the camper refridge, you have some ‘blocks’ of food to help with the chilling up of your unit.
2) PLATES… I have a basket that I stand the plates up in! I put paper plates in between my chinette (?spelling) plates. It saves so much space!
REMEMBER to have FUN!!
We bought the same mattress last year and love it!! Best sleep ever
💙
Love your RV.. really seems more homey than so many... great work... !!!!
Thanks so much and thanks for watching
We purchased a wanderlust mattress from Brooklyn Bedding it is fabulous!!
Awesome!
There is just my husband and I in our household and we have two 80 inch tvs in the house and let me say that they might come on twice a week, however in our 5th wheel when we are down in Texas for the winter I like to watch tv in the evening because it gets dark so early down there. So if the biggest controversy you have is no tvs... no big deal. Love what you have done with your RV.
Thank you!
I'd have LOVED a zero TV option or even a less TVs option when we bought our coach. I almost went with a Winnebago product I didn't otherwise like because it was one of the only ones that didn't have an outside "entertainment center". I find plenty of outside entertainment without a TV. In fact, the dealer opened that outside TV compartment when we took delivery and I haven't opened it since. That was 2019. Same with he bedroom TV. I've considered doing the same as you and getting an Amish craftsman to make me a cabinet door that matches the rest of the bedroom. Same with the living area. The huge TV there also encloses space behind it that is eaten up a lot with the cable and antenna stuff. It's tempting to rip all that stuff out too and have a door made for that as well. I like your closet organizer idea too. Very clever.
We love our Starlink also!! I’ll have to check out the mattress option and the cafe seating. We have a 2005 Holiday Rambler and love the older class A! Love your channel hope to see you someday in a fav RV park!
Maybe we will see you out there!
I'm shocked, shocked and scandalized. By the amount of ambition and initiative. In my opinion, taking out the big box that was blocking the windshield is wise, the only caveat is making sure that the things are secured, so when you hit the gas, they don't tumble out on you. That's always maddening. As Matt has said, 'no RV is perfect', but I think yours is approaching that. I was wondering about the power draw from induction, and converting the fridge is a biggy. Did you leave the venting in? A lot of people block it off, but it still needs to be cooled, so I wondered. I'm liking it, keep up the good work.
We did keep the venting in the fridge and since it’s 12 volt it’s not as power hungry as a residential fridge would be. Thanks for watching and the comment
If I were replacing that couch, I'd see if there was a way to but another bunk over there and convert the bunk on the other side to a couch too. Might be tough because it's on a slide. Kind of like those bunk beds with the couch underneath and bed on top. Gets you more seating. And might be nice for the older kids to have a bit more of their own space. But it's hard to tell on the video of you could actually sit under the bed if you did that and exactly how wide it is. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Installed the RoadArmor suspension with wetbolts and bushings last year. What a difference in pulling the TR.
👍🏻
You could do a Murphy bed. I've seen some Murphy beds that are a two in one. One was a desk by and a bed at night. The other was shelves , and gravity was to keep everything on them.
👍🏻
I love ur videos ! Thank you as well ! And I have a question about ur setup for RV Starlink...I have one but I have the end on the ground outside....so a cord out a window thing ...don't like.... Maybe in a future video !? Thank you ! As always be safe enjoy your family n happy camping!
Oh what model splendid did you get?!!!
Thanks for watching! We now have our starlink cord run across the roof attached to our solar panel wires and then dropped through the junction box on the front. We ran the cord up through the floor of our RV previously.
If y'all come back to Florida you should go to Ponce De Leon Springs, it's in northwest Florida in the panhandle....so Ponce De Leon Springs is amazing, we also have Morrison Springs, and Vortex Springs. There is so much to do and these are all within 30 mins of each other.
Thanks for the info/suggestions!
Induction is my favorite too. My oven gets used for storage. I’d love to get rid of the propane stove.
👍🏻
That sofa/couch, could you just have it reupholstered and maybe some new seat cushions?
If your boondocking just cook on a grill more, that would help conserve electric
I would appreciate videos on how to use the convection part of the microwave
Thanks for all the great videos
Noted!
Love the updates and upgrades y’all have made! We’re not ready to ditch the propane just yet, especially for heat. We mainly use electric heaters but I like the redundancy. Solar is the next frontier for us. Is your battery set up able to run an AC or just everything else?
Our set up can run a/c - we have a 3,000 watt inverter so as long as stay under 3,000 watts.
Same here. We like propane for heat and for cooking. We also don't have room for a big bank of lithium batteries. I think that is necessary and a game changer for being able to get rid of propane.
Thank you for the discount code. We ordered our mattress and got even a better military discount and a great nights sleep! Thank you!!!
Awesome! Thanks for watching
Awesome! We are Navy, I will look into that discount!
New to your channel and like your renovations. Can I ask where your kids ride during travel? And are seatbelts required?
We really enjoy your videos ! We love our 2007 Bounder so much. We travel as much as we can but not full timers . We camped so much when our boys were younger . This was between 1996 & 2006. Then came the teen-age years. We know your kids will soon enough be there too. Our boys are two years apart so they quickly grew other interests . So , have you begun planning for the age of drivers licenses , dating , collage ? We would like your take on it. Thanks.
Yes, we’ve notice a shift in our travel pace as the kids have gotten older. We tend to stay in one area for longer so the kids can do the things they want. The coming years I’m sure will be full of changes for our family. Thanks for watching
Hi, love your channel. You asked for feed ack on the undersized couch that’s in the slide. villa makes custom rv furniture. I just replaced all my tiffin open road furniture. They are good!
Sincerely, peter z
Thanks for the suggestion and for watching
three questions.. [you mention down below but i find nada...] 1 what kind of elect stove? induction or?? 2 do you still have propane furnace? did you get rid of all the extra propane lines? 3 still have propane water heater? im curious.. i want the propane furnace, but the rest are dodgy and my trailer came with a dc compressor refrigerator.. im quite curious about a electric stove at least partially because its so difficult to keep the propane stove clean and as we all know the best way to keep mice away is spotless clean. thanks much
Hey there, thanks for watching. We installed an induction cooktop and capped off the propane line that went to the old stove. We have a propane on demand (tankless) water heater from etrailer. We do still have a propane furnace but we also use the heat pumps in the roof top a/c’s for heat more than the furnace.
Have that couch recovered and new foam to the stiffness of your choice
👍🏻
Can you say what brand peel n stick wallpaper you used? Thank you!
It was from Home Depot - I don’t remember the brand tho 🤦🏻♀️
Can you add a link for what you did to your refrigerator. Thank you
th-cam.com/video/vT8B0UreQPc/w-d-xo.html
I want an induction cooktop and convection microwave. Great ideas! Especially with our 12v refrigerator. It works great! And I feel it is safer. We don't use our TV either. So many other options. Daybed is what I was thinking, too. It may come in handy as Dakota continues to grow. "Check your face!" Cracked me up. Ha ha ha Thanks Charity and Ben!
Much safer! Glad your 12v fridge is working out for you! Did you do the 12 cooling unit conversion or do you have a 12v fridge?
It's 12v! We love it! We're looking for a different RV to better suit our current needs and a 12v fridge is important for us.
Very cool!
Wonderful mods. You are right, it is your home and why not make it the way you want it. It seems like many people are getting older RV's and renovating them. The question I have is, some campgrounds are putting an age limit on the RV's ie anything over 10 years not welcome. Do you find that to be the case and if so how do you address that? Go to another campground? Thanks for the very informative and fun videos.
Thanks for watching. We’ve always been able to get around the 10 year rule and we talk more about that in this video: th-cam.com/video/c3MYEst_kzs/w-d-xo.html
Can you please tell me where to find the video you did of your stove remodel area?
Here you go: RV Renovation: We Ditched The Propane Stove For Something EVEN Better!
th-cam.com/video/8sksBOb7uYs/w-d-xo.html
Where did you guys get your blind? Home Depot/Lowe’s or some RV place? Great videos!
We got all our roller shades from Home Depot
Good video. We started talking about removing the propane from our RV 5 years ago. We are down to the stove now. It is the only propane item we have left in the coach. I really don't see what is controversial about your front section. You removed the TV and modified the big cabinet. I like what you have done.
Thanks! Many have disagreed with the TV removal (having no TV’s)
Show the roof!
Enjoy all the mods. Question, how do you find qualified people to do work (say custom woodworking)?
We usually check references or we ask other and get people referred to us.
I can’t remember the towels you featured in a couple of your videos, could you Please repeat what brand you use. Thank You so much 🤗❤️!
Here you go! gratefulglamper.com/towels
@@GratefulGlamper Omgosh Thank You so much 🤗!
What are you using to stick the pictures to the wall mine won't stay!😢
They are mixtiles and have an adhesive strip on the back
Recover the couch?
I don't have a any TV in my RV either. I watch everything directly from my laptop. One question: How much did it cost to have someone come in and paint your cabinets? You might have about as many as I do, though maybe a bit less. I'm terrified of starting it because knowing me I won't finish it.
It was around $2k - glad to hear we’re only the only ones with they ditched the TV
Do you ever have issues finding rv spots because your rv is over 10 years old? Do your renovations help with that at all??
We’ve only ever run into this issue twice - and sending an email with a current photo (of the outside) and explaining that our rig is very well maintained has always gotten us around the 10 year rule
Hi! Great video! But did you answer the question of "Is it legal?" How do we know for sure if it is? Do we contact the manufacturer's and then a lawyer? We have been "toying" with the idea of renovating our 2004 Class A Winnebago Adventurer and just want to make sure that is the right way to go or to leave our motorhome the way it is if we decide to sell instead.
Resale value all depends on what a buyer is looking for. The comment that came from a view asking if what we did was legal was referring to the removal of all TV’s - which yes, it’s perfectly legal 👍🏻
@@GratefulGlamper ok. Thank you.
Great video. Is what even legal? I didn't see anything that would be legally controversial.
Your current ' Couch' situation. I wouldn't try to reinvent the wheel, so to speak. You talked about the size of seating, your slides & duct work. I would keep the 'Bones' and have it reupholstered in a fabric similar to ones used on outdoor furnishings. Durable, fashionable & keeping the same foot print. Take good care. Best Wishes from Canada!!
Thanks so much!
Agree! Have it re-upholstered.
Have the couch recovered
Since you have a router that starlink is plugged into you can do away with the starlink router.
I have the Starlink router in bypass mode, which allows the Peplink to handle everything. So the WI-FI on the Starlink router is off and just delivering power to the dishy. I can still stow the dish and see stats by going to dishy.starlink.com/ or from the app. Eventually, I’ll be installing an injector so I can get rid of the router and power everything on DC power (batteries only). More fun stuff coming in the near future!
How is the new internet working? Has it solved your issues?
It’s been great!
I don’t see why no TV is such a big deal to people. I haven’t had TV for over 7 years. It’s such a time waster and the kids don’t even care. We actually talk to each other and play games together. The kids create their own entertainment.
👏🏻👏🏻
Personally, I agree with the TV removal. Granted, we camp in our minivan (we call it our Class B-), but our phones and tablets are all we need. Someday, if/when we move up to a true motorhome or truck and trailer rig I will mount a couple monitors for my PC (which still wouldn't technically be TVs). Regardless, it's your home, you do you and anybody who doesn't like it doesn't have to visit. I suppose for those pesky smart alecks (like myself), I should stipulate you do you as long as it's not harming anyone else.
For sure - thanks for watching
We're not big TV watchers so when we tour RVs and see 3-4 screens we're like really!? With phones and laptops I think we're fine.
Our thoughts exactly
Good stuff here! We bought a 2000 Newmar in about 2015 for a steal. It was also in great shape and we get many compliments too. I'd like to follow your lead and do an interior makeover with paint and similar items. I won't paint the cabinets because they're the blonde maple which I find just gorgeous. But the wallpaper and mirrors have got to go! Gotta agree with getting rid of the TV's as well. Plenty of other ways to watch movies and whatever.
We just purchased a 2000 Newmar as well and are hoping to do some renovations in the future. We also removed the TV and now you offered a solution for the big box hanging down in our view from the window.
They don’t make RVs like they used to. We have an ‘07 forest river that’s built like a brick. RVs I see now are thrown together junk with constant issues. “They don’t make ‘em like they used to.”
For sure!
Those batteries are $1000 each. Not something your average RVer can afford. Your talking 10k for just that solar setup
They’ve come down in price (the batteries) and Battleborn runs some great deals from time to time. It all depends on your goals when it comes to RV life re: what makes sense and what doesn’t
Splendid is controversial - but so is the LG
Our first one lasted nearly 20 years so we’re hopeful the new one lasts at least half that time. Thanks for watching
Expensive hack job.
I sorry, but what was 'SUPER controversial'..wasn't in my opinon. Whatever you can afford and provide to add to the quality of your lifestyle is not controversial IMO...and as a Sr Blonde, I missed specifically what some nosy Nellies may have thought to be illegal !! Thank you for sharing your lovely home.
Thanks for watching
Holy cow... Modifying your overhead console? "Isn't that illegal??"
Probably from someone who drives around in a 1993 Ford Escort Wagon with their "temporary" Handicapped hang tag dangling from their mirror blocking 20% of their forward view, a faded to white and grey Garfield "Hang In There" stuffed animal suction-cupped to the passenger front window block view to their right, parks in the fire lane ("I put my flashers on, so it's fine."), three out of their four tires are 15 lbs under-inflated and the other one is 15 over, and bumper stickers completely obscuring their rear window. Said vehicle probably burns a quart and a half of 40-weight between each fill-up of gas, leaving a cloud of smoke at each stoplight launch. This haze doesn't really hide their utter hypocrisy of their PETA, Green Peace, Earth Day, and World Wildlife Federatopm stickers in said rear window.
(Nothing wrong with saving the planet, but shouldn't they really be driving a Tesla, Prius, (insert other electric car brand), or bicycling to get where you're going??)
😂
Please don’t say your looking out for the environment when you have a cell phone and solar panels. The cobalt in your phone was retrieved by slave labor by digging up minerals. The solar panels are made in china and they destroy the environment to make them and dig up the minerals. Especially when comparing to propane. Propane is the cleanest natural gas you can use. Not saying don’t use them, just dont say you are looking out for the environment while simultaneously using technology that effects the environment to be made.
Speaking of Safety….Please for your safety, change those batteries of 36 months. Period. Trust me. USMC/USAF. SAFETY
Our Battleborn lithium batteries have a life of 10 years
@trumpwon8231 - I hope you're talking about the chassis starting batteries. Lithium Iron is the way to go and what I'll be putting in my rig when the FLA golf cart battery bank needs to be replaced.
(oh, and btw, Trump lost)
Ben and Charity - Great call on the Battle Borns. I'll be calling Todd when it's time to upgrade my off-grid system.
drguyor, 2861/62 USMC retired, so yes I do know a little about electronics and electrical systems.
