This music takes me flying high over the Pacific Ocean on a now scrapped Qantas Queen of the Skies. Every time I hear Beethoven's Romance No 2 in F Major I'm lying back in one of the big pods. Even though my feet are permanently on the ground I'll always remember listening in the darkness of the aeroplane cabin to this magnificent music.

Love Annie doing this piece. I like fluid melodic pieces. I really enjoysuch relaxing pieces! These idiots in Chicago, Oregon, NYC add more stress than I want!!!
Excellent playing from both the soloist and orchestra. That said, I think that I like the interpretation of Heifetz much better. I feel that a lot of the shorter, more staccato sections that Mutter added don't fit the mood of the piece as well. Don't take this wrong, both players are amazing, I just prefer Heifetz's interpretation. I would recommend listening to both and deciding for yourself though, it's mostly my personal preference.
The quality of Sophie-Mutter recording is vastly superior but your comments on the two versions are accurate from my terribly subjective point of view! Thanks for starting something!!!

While a greater performer, I always Anne-Sophie Mutter always a bit imprecise, either in timing or intonation and this performance does clarify that even more to me.
Sweet Anne-Sophie natural born violinist. One fine crafted piece of work she's having on her arms. Could easily cost arms and leg. I still prefer her playing Vivaldi.
