    Loaded Ruby should be at the most low 50’s. One like you tested here should be in the 40’s with cloth and minimal options. Jeeps used to be extremely affordable and we all know that has gone out of the window. They really need to come back down to earth on these to start selling them in the numbers they want, especially with continued reliability concerns.

    We picked up a 24 Willys 2 door. We figured we'd rarely need the front locker and the Willys has a cool retro vibe with some of the graphics. Plus they were making deals on the Willys and not so much on the Rubicons.

    First off jeeps are too expensive now, and the Rubicon is what jeep is all about pushing $70,000 plus tax plus dock fees etc. etc. it’s too much money, jeeps used to be a resale bomb every dealer wanted a used jeep on their lot because they would sell immediately Now a $70,000 jeep that’s about a year old it’s selling for about $35,000 it’s ridiculous I’ve seen it all over the place, jeep was offering up to $15,000 off on their gladiators which made them affordable why can’t they do that with everything? They would completely change the market create more competition and sell tons of jeeps, the 392 you could buy two years ago for $79,000 now it’s upwards of $104,000 plus, it’s ridiculous, I love jeeps but come on jeep help are economy help your customers, We want an affordable jeep and having the luxury‘s are nice but not for these prices they mass-produce these vehicles they can bring the price down if they really wanted to

    a Willys over $40k is absolutely nuts. And you can tell that by the fact that right now, dealers can't even sell the Rubicons at freaking $44k. There are 4xEs Rubicons at $46k new! and have been seating there for months.
    The reality is that Wranglers are a specialty vechile for a niche market, and if they price them too high most people will make "compromises" like getting a 4Runner, Land Cruiser, etc instead.

    • @AHungryHunky
      @AHungryHunky หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The thing is, a Wrangler of any sort is already a compromise. If you have a family I couldn't think of a less practical SUV to haul them around in.
      You make compromises on many aspects you would get with similar priced vehicles, like 3rd row seating, cargo space, reliability, road noise and comfort, in order to have a convertible offroad monster. Make it to expensive and people will decide they want something more comfortable, more spacious and easier to put kids in.
      An expensive wrangler just sells Z71 Traverses with panoramic roofs installed as people look at what they are actually going to do with the vehicle VS what they imagine they will at signing.

    Im in Canada. I got my self a 24 2 door willys. The 7000cad price difference was enough to take the Rubicon off my list. For where I wheel it is perfect. One thing I didn't hear as a difference is they have different transfer cases. If I missed it sorry. The Rubicon has the 4:1 transferase. I didn't feel the front locker, sway bar disconnect and transfer case were deal breakers for me where I live and play. Some may want and need that.

    I like how the V6 Auto drives compared to the i4 Turbo with the Auto. If you put the V6 Auto in auto stick mode I think it wakes the vehicle up. Power is there with the V6 Auto. The turbo has to build up its power before you feel it. I actually prefer the Rubicon with the V6 Auto and 33s and 4:10 gearing. I think the same combo in the XR package on the Rubicon drives more sluggish even with the 4:56 gearing. I don't like the softer sidewalls and the added weight of the larger tires. These are what I like. Everyone has their own driving likes. I think the Wranglers across the board should be at least $10k - $15k less. It's being priced in the premium and luxury brand territory and they aren't premium luxury vehicles. What they are though are king of their own hill. It is a unique vehicle so it makes it difficult to put it into a shoebox category.

  • @chrisgill7824
    @chrisgill7824 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    You didn't mention the 4:1 transfer case available only in the Rubicon. The Willys doesn't get it. For the price differences it's worth the bump in price to get the Rubicon so you get the better Transfer case, the lockers front and rear and swaybar disconnect if you are going to use it as intended. If not just buy the Willys.

    I have got my 2024 Rubi V6 (I think Pentastar is better and more reliable engine than the Fiat 2.0 turbo) for 12.5K less than MSRP, but think it was way overpriced even with the discount. Another problem is, we have got a ~22% dollar inflation during Bidenomics. Many people used to buy Wranglers "for fun" and not for real offroading, because it was cheap, but now with the increase of the prices the buyer spectrum will be reduced to count only real offroaders (who really need Wranglers) otherwise the same dollar amount can buy much better cars for roads and fun even with some offroading if needed (BMW X3, Volvo XC90, etc.). So Jeep is really messing up with their business, their cars are stuck at the dealership lots for months.

    The devil is in the details. When I ordered my Rubi in '22 I thought leather seats were too expensive so I didn't include them, but found that not only were the seats not leather, but the steering wheel was wrapped in this "kinda vinyl... feels like it might not look good in 10 years" kinda wrap... and the dash doesn't have the leather cover, etc. And while I ordered the painted hardtop, I found out later that if I didn't that the steering wheel stalk for the rear defroster, washers, and wipers wouldn't be included so I couldn't have bought a hard top later that had those things. Willys would have no armor underneath. No lockers. Hard to say what else is missing. Seems to me that the package system they offer is working to a pretty good extent. If you don't need those things or plan to add them aftermarket, go Willys. If not, go Rubi. $3,000 difference on vehicles at this price makes sense for what's missing, and I bet there's more missing than we know.

    The Rubicon allows you to run 35" tires without a lift the front fenders are about 1" higher also the Rubicon has 4:10 gears vs the Willys has 3:73 which makes it easier for the Rubicon to have larger tires... for the price difference I think the Rubicon is the better option for those that plan on doing a good amount of offroad duties if not the Willys would make sense.. the disconnecting swaybar and front locking diff are very nice when you need them. What I dont understand is why the company forces you to switch to the 4 cyl turbo and automatic trans when you opt for the 35 inch tire package?
    That said, I find it rather cramped behind the wheel sadly. I've always wanted one. Dad had a CJ7 with the small block V8.
    Speaking of V8s, why not have a small block? Hemi was great but ridiculous. Then maybe I could see paying 40 to 45k for a Jeep.

      A company called Desert Does It makes 'seat jackers' which are angled machined aluminum blocks, to not only raise the seat angle to increase the height of the seat bottom so that it supports the back of the driver's thighs, but they also move the seat back a couple of inches, making the driving position much more comfortable.
      They're worth the price.
      Using cheap blocks or washers to raise the seats moves the seats up and forward, taking away leg room.

    Most useless vehicle even the 4 door. Hardly no cargo space. Pain in the butt to go grocery shopping with. Opening rear door to put in groceries in the back that has no space. It is a glorified ATV Golf cart.

    So the Wrangler still doesn't give you 4auto on every trim, yet? So you're stuck with 2WD until the roads are completely snow covered, where you better remember to engage 4 high? Is this 1995?

    The way the market is right now, i'm sticking to the preowned market and JK series.
    😢 Pricings make Jeep feel different... in the worst way. Heard Toyota is bringing back the FJCruiser this year, thinking about switching over.

      When they are purchased new, they come with a 5 year 60,000 mile warranty on the drivetrain.
      If purchased 'certified used' from a dealer, they now come with a 7 year, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.
      That's longer than most people will own these vehicles, before trading.
      People just need to purchase them for $10,000 to $15,000 off of MSRP.
      Resale values are high.
