A friend bought a new pit bike last year. He ran the bike approx. 5 hours before it died. One month and one week since purchase so no warranty of course. I've jumped in to try and help as he has changed plug, wire, coil, and cdi so far with no luck. I've found that the ssr wiring print is pretty well lacking. This does have electric start and starter is turning. Based on the limited info I just gave where would you start checking for power and resistance without spending anymore money than he already has? Good video and i appreciate any pointers you may be able to give. I'll get this thing going for him. Thanks in advance!

hey nice vid. I have a question for any one who may know. I have an older bike and I was riding around and it started cutting out, then eventually wouldn't start. so I took the spark put out and looked to see if it had spark, I got only one really nice looking spark but after that I couldn't even get a weak spark. I replaced the coil on it but the same thing happened whats wrong with it can you please help me out!

I have a sunL go kart with a 110cc Chinese motor. it had a blown head gasket. before I removed the motor it had spark. I put the motor back on after replacing the head gasket and now no spark. I did check the solenoid and it's good. can you help?

Hello mate, and everybody else here,my name is p.j and I have an m2r 140 with no spark. I had a spark until I screwed in the spark plug too tight and the thread snapped off, I got the thread out put a brand new plug in and now no spark, my wires are a mess but no different from before I really do not ha e a clue what too do. e that bike was riding everything working great next day wouldnt start going to trouble shoot with your video always was real hard to start thinking coil was weak and finally went but when i pulled spark plug noticed that the electrode was damn near worn gone on plug so got new plug but cant find anywere the gap size ,,,do u know what to gap it at
around .028 should work ! most plugs come gapped pretty close to working unless it has been dropped should be close !

Ken Jacobs you have charging system ? lights battery ? red hooks to battery from rectafier little square box it changes ac to dc or comes from battery to run lights and acc ... ! ! ! ! 12 volts good means stator is working n rectafire is also ! now red n black wire if its new comes from stator to cdi ! check volts to the plug at cdi box un pluged ! red volt meter prong on rednblk wire blk prong on frame ! also your spark plug coil is it one wire or two ? if it is one coil pack must be grounded no rust or paint between metal ? check volt from yellow n black wire coming from cdi with everything plugged in
if none cdi is bad . send me message with the answerer to volt coil wires one or 2 ?
Do you need a battery for these mini bikes. I just bought a mini chopper that doesn't run.
If it only has electric start. U need a battery, if you have a kick start no you dont need one.
Hey man I pulling my hair out here, I bought an r100 2 stroke quad no spark replaced the cdi, coil, plug, kill on the handles is good, not sure about the stator I've got power going up to the top of the coil but if I put the multi meter at the plug end nothing like something stopping it in side the coil? At this point I'm just throwing cash at it that is not really got. At what point would a kill/safety switch stop the spark or power getting to the coil?
on your cdi you have a black n white wire its kill switch you can cut it but you will have to hook it back up to stop motor ! i use a poker and very carfully take the one clip out of the plug to cdi ! that would count out any kill switch issues ! there are or can be clutch switch kill,brake lever kill. kickstand kill . and button and even key switch itself can go bad ! stator red n black wire puts out over 50 volts ? blue puts out 1 or 2 ? new spark plug ? if your spark plug coil pack is 2 wire check with ohms on and make sure no signal from either wire terminal to spark plug or no continuity to either terminal and ground ! do you have over 50 volts to yellow and black wire going to spark coil ??
I was wondering if you can help, i have 77 yamaha dt 100 i have great spark or live wire from the stater and then connect it to the junction connecter. no spark from coil so i jumped the stater wire straight to to bran new coil no spark or very weak spark tested the coil with 6 v battery it gives you a jolt Im stumped and i could use some help.
Darren Christensen check kill switch ! i have never done one of those although just had the dt50 awhile back fun bike ! i would think kill switch loose ground or cdi box ! is coil pack 2 wires or one ? if one make sure ground isnt rusted or greasy ! ill try to help do you own a volt meter ?

Hey there, I need some help getting my bike started.
The wiring is fine throughout the bike but I have some major rust on the coil. The screw that holds the coil and has the wire grounded on it is what mainly has rust. Would this be a cause to the bike not starting?
medwards40 do an ohm check on coil but yes rust isnt good !
medwards40 if the coil is real rusty may not give spark right so get all the rust off make sure no rust on flywheel this also will cause problems if it collects on magnet ! it will misfire !
I have a he moto and i can't figure out how to hook it up, if I have and upgraded stator cud and magneto do I need to get and upgraded coil?

its the color from the key switch .. put the black with the green/yellow from the start button .. put the black/white with the same color from your kill switch .. and the green go to the negative from the battery
Put on new stator from Amazon has two coils in it primary coil is only putting out 7 to 8 volts unloaded and 4 volts with the CDI plugged in any suggestions

Okay so I got a 110cc scream.
It started and road completely fine for about 10min then it back fired. Shortly after found out it had no spark so I changed the cdi unit and it worked fine then again shortly after back fired.
I'm quite sure its not the spark plug cos it looks new ish
The second cdi was given to me second hand but from what I heard it's not a very common part to go wrong it works or it dosnt
If any of you would have a guess as to what sort of things go wrong on these sorts of bikes would be cool :)

Spirit ZeVo | Z3eVo could be the actual coil pack from spark plug these will work until hot then quit then prolly work again when cool ? does this seam right ? not sure what video your on of mine but go to no spark get volt meter take guess work and money out of the problem ohm the spark coil !

Timing is off or intake valve is bent or tight ! I believe it’s a 15 or 17 mm n round cap on top of the head take cap off n check valve lash for play ! You may need to turn motor over n take plug out too s it don’t start !

Hi Walden i recently bought a brand new magneto stator for my honda c70. The red and black has no spark but the white wire coming the stator has spark. how do you know if its the cdi that is dead???
If you hold red n black wire n kick over you should get shocked good . Over 50ac volts . This charges your cdi . There in no way to test cdi because it uses 2 different volt inputs . So you check everything else then replace cdi . No volts from red n black bad stator or something isn't grounded motor to frame n harness

what is the other plug next to my cdi box on my coolster 70cc dirtbike . it has the same exact 5 pin plug as the cdi plug but is not plugged into anything .
I’d guess gear selector wires one is usaly red/green for quads or electric starts so you only have spark in neutral
You would have 2 plugs coming from stator ! One goes to that gears sensor right by the front sprocket u may not have it or different engine in it who knows lol what color are wires ?
What to do if the stator, ignition coil, CDI box, and spark plug are all brand new, the trigger switch was disconnected, but there is still no spark??
+Alex check kill switch its black n whit wire on cdi remove it from plug if you can then try !
Hey cory,very informative video,you helped me diagnose a no spark on my bike,but i have a question about the kill switch.i have the same 5 pin cdi as you have in this video,should i short the blue and white trigger wire to ground,or short the black and red wire to ground? so what i was thinking was this,the killswitch has two wires,connect 1 of them to the bike frame,then have the blue and white wire connect to the other side of the switch and to the cdi,will that be ok? Use red n black to run kill switch , its grounded on stator plate , blue n white is not grounded , kill switch either in line or grounded to frame ! They make open n closed kill switches , hope this helps
My son‘s bike lost spark after his chain broke the other day. The Stater cover did crack. Any ideas on what might’ve screwed up in there? No oil leaking anywhere. Please be as detailed as possible. I greatly appreciate any help.
You broke the trigger on the stator plate eBay will have one and you will need a impact screw driver to get it off ! Pull cover off you will see the trigger mount is broke
Ps buy new sprockets and chain also it was probably old n the teeth on gears I’ll guess on back are sharp?
@@WaldensWorld I have the impact driver. So I need to replace the entire stater plate or just the trigger? I’m assuming in order to switch out the stater plate I need to remove the fly wheel. The stater plate and trigger are not the magnetic thing with the wires that are stuck to the stater cover with 4 little screws Are they? Thank you for responding and being patient.
Hey Walden I just found out I have weak spark and the compression is just blowing out my spark. Sould I replace the ignition and cdi or stator? What would cause weak spark I have a Baja 70
+andrew bryan compression dont blow out a spark . cdi is good . the work or they dont .. Check coil ground . check flywheel for rust on sensor . check trigger gap I use business card to set trigger. It would either be stator or spark coil after you check all that . oh do you have the right spark plug ?

Ground wire to frame or battery n coil grounded ? Or the trigger aka Blu/wht wire may not be getting a signal telling the cdi to let go of the main power giving spark ! Rdblk wire should be 50ac volts. N bluwht 1 or 2 but it's hard to read ! Think I have a video I use a magnet n volt meter to check one !

your new stator prolly has wiring for lights yello white wires ? these would go to rectafier ! dont need them if you dont have a battery jsut use the red n black, blue, green, i assume this is the other wires and then follow the steps to wire to cdi box ! but yes it will work

Hope you can help me. I’ve got a venom motersports 125cc mini Jeep. I think these are Honda clone motors.
I’m getting a very weak spark. It not the plug, I used a bolt in the spark plug cap and turned it over. Spark is very weak coming from the wire. What’s my next step in trying to resolve this issues? Keep in mind I’m a novice at motors. I’m a plumber and can fix anything in a home but motors are foreign to me.

i would check your trigger my flywheel ! see if it has metal flakes on it and you can use a buisness card to gap it ! put flywheel sensor by trigger and put buisness carb in between and loosen the trigger bolts the magnet will pull it close then just re tighten ! alco check ground wires for bad connections let me know if this works

My red and black is hooked to,pos on meter and green,ground showing 200+ ohms and only 7 volts
Ac volts n try putting the black print on motor just to make sure on ground ! But that be bad stator . That black n red if you hold it n kick bike will fill like a electric fence lol . I done it in accident . But should be over 50 ac I seen some meters need to be on higher setting to read correctly . Let me know

Hello i Switched my stator censor but The new censor have only 1 wire and thats blue White wire and my before censor dis have Green too on it what do i do?
You motor is now green u need to run a wire from a ground bolt to your green on your wire harness

if it does it repeatedly you spark plug coil may be going out look to see if it is disfigured . it can go bad without looking bad also . or could be loose ground wire somewhere. does your coil have one or 2 wires check that they are getting connection

Hello i have a boom 125-15 chinese motorcycle and im putting in a cdi 125cc but there is a blue/white,a green and 2 yellow coming from bike and a green,blue/white,black/red, white, and yellow coming from engine stator. How do i coonect please?
Blu/wht are trigger for cdi blk/red is ac power to cdi ! Two yellow go to rectifier to charge battery green is ground

I got the rest but the black/red wire coming from the stator i know is got to go to the cdi but my cdi does not have a black/red wire . It only has four wire green,blue/white, black/yellow, and black. Backround it was an electric start and this engine is kick start .. but im only having problems with this black /red wire ..
Got an issues here, Hawk pro 150cc, No voltagee out of the red wire leading from the stator. I replaced the stator and the magneto with parts from amazon not an exact match had to splice the wires to the old harness. The case broke around the chain area and allowed rocks into the stator area which is why i replaced the parts. Im wondering why no voltage from the red and black wire. The brass hub fits but is a little different than the original. Any Ideas?
Ac volts should be close to 60 ! Is there a green wire it needs grounded too
Also flywheel has magnets if ricks busted them inside you won’t have correct volts
@@WaldensWorld there is nothing coming our of the red and black wire. tree is grounded, i checked continuity. Im wondering if the flywheel isn't compatible with the stator.
sorry for the typing. Green is grounded but nothing but .1-.3 volts out of the red and black wire.
@@WaldensWorld Ok progress. Getting 40-50 volts out of the red and black wire. Still no start but a back fire. Not sure if this matters but the tab for the pick up on the flywheel is in a different spot that the original based on the key for the shaft. The original tab is about 1 oclcock in reference to the key and the new one is at the three o'clock position. will that mess with the firing / timing?

+mark bleau do you have a volt meter ? could be a kill switch or ground wire ! black n white wire to cdi is kill switch disconnect it n try ! you can get the pin out of plug if your carefull ! or cut it but youl have to put it back so make sure you can do that ! if it runs with this unhooked ! its one of your kill switches ! either kickstand , clutch lever, on off switch, nuetral gear ! if you have these in your system ALSO check you ground wires and check that your sparkplug coil pack is grounded too !

I have a 110 chinese quad that I replaced the coil, cdi, and stator still no fire ..... used your video to check stator power the black and red wire is getting 30 volts roughly and nothing on the trigger wire I put the old stator back on and got the same readout......what could be my issue?
Check ground from battery to motor . Carefully pull black n white wire out of cdi . That is kill switch . If it Sparks with this wire disconnected . It will be a handbrake lever or some had tethercord on back . It may be bad . Start there . N let me know
@@WaldensWorld the atv had a bad harness so I set up a simple homemade harness with a ac cdi new coil new stator and spark plug I haven't set up the kill switch yet so it shouldn't be a kill switch issue
Is your wire harness grounded to the bike through a bolt to frame ? Grounded to back of spark Coil . Grounded to stator ground wire . Must have those three grounds

Hi man, it seems like you know your stuff well. I have a problem to solve. I bought a bike for me and I made a stuntbike out of it and soon after a few hours of riding all the wires melted themselves. Found out it was put together poorly by the previous owner. I swapped out ma stator and coil anf did the whole new wiring myself with a friend and we have a big problem now. I get nicely electocuted by all the wires but from coil I get a darn small shock. It feels tickling and blurry as it should be more of a pulse like and obviously way more powerful. I have checked all the wirings and stuff but it just won't make a spark. What should I do?

coryncheryl1 I tried it out. I have a White with a red stripe wire and a black wire from that thing that makes the pulse and then I got a black and red wire from the stator's primary coil. I connected them assuming the black is ground. shock from the coil is now much better than earlier. compared to that of my RM's shock from the coil it still is nothing and is not able to make a spark. I have a 6-pin CDI, and one pin is left without anything, not sure if it has to have something. This is not a grounding problem, right? since I can feel the shock.
Alot of times those r grounded in side to the plate there mounted on , r your cdi wires the same ? As my video , your trigger wire wich ever it may be is only around 2 volts find that wire n your high volt wire n hook to cdi like video , do ohm check on black see if it reads the same as jusy putting meter tips together what kind of bike ?
my bike is pretty much custom but it started as a derbi 125 and it has a loncin engine and ignition. I have looked on this but not a single wiring diagram seem to work, even tho now all the ignition parts are new.
? stator what color are the wires coming out ? do you own a volt meter ? the wires coming from stator what colors what volts from each ?

If you have power then the only thing is cdi that you can’t check ! So it would be out ! All ground good no paint?
Can you use a paper clip n push the keeper out of the cdi clip black n white wire ! This is kill switch so if you had on of switch handbrake safety kickstand safety ect it would now be disconnected so on cdi u just want red n black , blue n white , green , n black n yellow !
I have a taotao pit bike battery charged put screwdriver to coil got spark turn over. No power to the start botton. Fuse look good I think something is wired wrong.

Long shot since this is an old video but my ignition coil is good but for my harness, there’s no spark on the spark plug but if I touch the singular green ground wire that comes out of the harness I get a big shock when I’m kicking it over…. Any ideas? Thanks
I’d check ground from battery n stator ! Hold it with something insulted n see if it sparks more than once, a bad Cdi will spark once or irregular! Do you have volt meter ! Check all ground connections n plugs
@@WaldensWorld Mihe doesn’t have a battery kickstart only it shocks really bad on this green ground wire and it’s not one from the stator plug I think it’s an engine ground and when kicking it over in the dark I can see the spark from this ground but ignition coil gets nothing at all! Thank you
Trigger coil on flywheel may have metal dust on it also check that out too

@@WaldensWorld it’s really strange all stator wires and plugs match with the rest of the new harness no frayed or loose wires but there’s absolutely no spark coming down the ignition coil

How do you even find parts for these bikes? I just bought a 2016 125 cc qiye pit bike and I can't find any parts that work and I have no more information on the bike not even on the tittle at all and all I know its a 2016 yiye 125 cc dirt bike
If it’s engine just do 125 pitbike 99 % are same stuff !
Some times when searching use less words it may pull up more you have to think like a lister instead of a searcher which can be crazy lol
So I have a 70cc Panda Trailrider and I get spark and it starts and runs for a bit but then dies. Then I'll try to start it and I'll have no spark. I've replaced the coils in the stator and the ignition coil and CDI. It's frustrating as hell!! HELP Somebody
Does yours have a key ? Next time there is no spark pull the blk n white wire from cdi this goes to all kill switches ! Lol don't have bike running as this wire will shock you ! But if you have spark with it out then you have a kill switch issue or check ask that your motor has a good ground wire going to the system also !
May need a poker to get it out as it's clipped in tge connection

Thank you so much for posting this. It's sad the Chinese have reduced the QUALITY that the Japanese set in the late 70's from Honda. The Chinese have purchased ALL rights of the molds to re-manufacture the old Genuine Honda engines. The quality has dropped, but also have the prices. You have to accept the low price with the lower quality. For those who don't like working on the engines, just replace the entire machine or the engine.

my pit bike has weak spark i just put a new coil on an no better i was messing with kill switch and looks like it has spark weather the the switch is on or off but not enough spark to start it how can i bypass the kill switch or wire it direct there is no spark at all when i un hook it
ps the stator has 4 wires 2 are yellow one is green and one blue i know what the green and blue are but which yellow goes to the cdi the cdi is 4 wire also

fly wheel can go bad make sure no rust on magnet make sure you dont have alot of space gap between sensor n flywheel check coil pack for ohms ! and volts coming to coil pack , sounds like you have a closed system kill switch and it may be bad if it is always letting electricity through till you unplug it !
It has the stator mounted tithe side case instead of behind flywheel
chad bishop yep it has a starter with chain ! your two yellow wires got to rectifier should have black n red come from there to cdi check your volts !

+coryncheryl1 we figured it out, we thought it was the magneto n coil but the previous owner didnt kno how to clean the injectors inside the carb so just took a bread tie & cleaned it out started right up. thanks away.

I have a 03 xr70r I have voltage up to my ignition coil but no spark. I replaced the ignition coil and still no spark. If I hold the ground close to the frame i get spark but if i fasten it anywhere on the bike(paint removed) or just hold it to a bolt I get zapped but no spark. Any help would be great. Thank You
i assume you have a new plug ! is it a 2 wire coil pack or one ? if you have a bad stator you can still get a spark some times it will charge up cdi till it has enough to go off ! it just wont be normal . you may also ohm you coil wire to spark plug make sure it isnt broke ! i can check one for you later and tell you what would be close ! di you ohm and volt check stator ?

also check the distance between pick up trigger ! thing next to flywheel ! i use something the thinkness of coke carbboard box to gap most usually works good !
I have anywhere from 80 to 100v out of the red and black from the stator. Nd it's a double wire coil.
I just went and got another cdi and wiring harness and still nothing

The Weird Bikers if your talking about the trigger on outside of flywheel ! ? n is broke off plate ! youl need a new stator plate ! or stator they are cheep ! u may need bike shop to pull off fly wheel n the screws that hold plate on come off with impact screw driver !

what if i have disconnected the battery and dont have any spark
if your running a dc system you need a battery . if your running Ac your rectifier is bad .
if you have a volt meter you can check battery before it starts . then start if volts drop . you may have bad rectifier . or you could have bad coil on stator plate . check volts out of yellow wires from stator prolly have 2 one mabey 6 volts one mabey 8 volts charging close to 14 volts. hope this helps

a dc system will not run without battery . the stator charges battery . the battery charges the cdi to generate spark

White and blue spark are fine ! Yellow or red are weak ! Get new plug to start to be safe I’ve seen them arc sideways in cylinder!
@@WaldensWorld ok no worries I got a new loom, stator and cdi coming next week. I’ve been trying for days to sort it, with no luck. It died when I was out on it.

@@connorjack3246 so sometimes cdi can miss fire u can’t check them just have to check everything else first ! Check no air is coming back out carb ! Was timing right on ? If timing chain is stretched it won’t run right ! Air box clogged ? Muffler clogged ? I’m thinking cdi or valves not shutting all the way at Tdc or low compression! Pull plug put finger over hole if it don’t blow your finger off ! If you can hold in the air you may have compression issues a good running motor is at least 100psi any lower I usual rebuild time or close to it !

On my bike I don't have lights just a kill switch
put blk/red together , green to green, blue to blue white , should get fire ! white n yellow goes to lights ! u dont need them tape up the do put out volts !

if it has metal shaving on flywheel it will cause no spark or weak spark ! try to get it all off !

coryncheryl1 your stator could be going out also if it is weak it will charge slow you have a compositor that stores electricity when it get enough the trigger releases it ! is your flw wheel dirty and rusty ? the gap between the notch on fly wheel to pick up trigger dirty or spread far apart ? i do about a match box thichness for gap
hit it with either ! starting fluid this will ! tell you if you have spark problems ! you may have piston or valve or clutch problems ! if it turns over real hard !
does your have manual clutch or semi auto ! do you have a clutch lever ?
if its semi auto " just kick shifter " does it sound like a cat fish grunting ?
and seem to take longer for piston to hit compression ?

+Outright Games flywheel clean no rust and did you gap new pickup sensor with buisness card ? you can cut the black n whit wire to cdi you will have to put it back together but this is kill switches ! if this is the problem by cutting it will run but not stop ! the spark plug coil you got 1 wire or 2 if its one you have to have coil grounded to bare metal ! try this holler back n did you suscribe please do ! you will need a volt meter ?

Can anyone help me I dropped my bike 1 month ago while it was on and I ran to it hit the kill switch picked it up and tried to turn it on and it only clicked then bought new spark plugs and tried that it had no spark and still only clicks
It clicks ? The motor turns over ? Take stator cover off n check pick up trigger ! Did chain pop off n break the cover ?

+Mr FixItGuy sounds like few issues . Popping out of carb or muffler timing ? air leak ? exhaust leak near head . spark . always try new plug first . do you own volt meter ? if its dc system yowl need a good battery to get spark .

Finn Jason blue n white is trigger wire, sensor is trigger i assume ,this goes to top left of cdi box ! hope that helps
I have a sunL go kart with a 110cc Chinese motor. it had a blown head gasket. before I removed the motor it had spark. I put the motor back on after replacing the head gasket and now no spark. I did check the solenoid and it's good. can you help?
+brian powell check ground wire from motor to cart ? n is spark plug coil pack 1 or 2 wires ? if its 1 make sure the pack is grounded good no grease or crap between it n frame ! if that dont work we will need volt meter ! check kill switch if you can remove blk?wht wire fron cdi its kill wire but if it starts you will have to pull plug wire to stop or choke it !
+coryncheryl1 it's a 2 prong coil pack. I see one wire going to ground and the other one goes to the cdi. there is 2 wires that comes off the starter solenoid. one is ground and the other one came off. I don't know where it goes. it's white and red stripe.
