Has your area ever had a local phenom?
hey rob if i had 7 billion dollars i would pay crosby , mike tyson, john cena , master p, lady gaga, and chuck Norris to fight in a free for all bare knuckle boxing match and i would pay each of them 400 million for the fight than i would spend 3 billion dollars making the world a better place than id blow the rest on my life
yes, Connor McDavid
The NHL over the next 20 years is going to be epic!
do you hear yourself?@@RagingGun
@@RagingGun The fuck you talking about? hahaha

McKenna is the most special kid i’ve seen play hockey in person. goes to my school and looks and acts like he’s 20. I could see him being better than mcdavid…
Bold take but if he is then that’s awesome
@@jasonanderson5034 what are you yip yapping about 😭 look at face he doesn’t look like he can’t even drive a car yet. i never said i could beat him up either 😭

Bedard, Celebrini, Misa, and McKenna in 4 straight drafts is exciting for the league
Yes and the Hawks get all 4.
Aren't Celebrini (and Misa if he actually goes first overall) rather "ordinary" first overall picks? As far as I know they're nowhere near the level of Bedard.
@@iCoolaxe I'd consider Celebrini an above average 1st overall, if he can relatively keep up this scoring pace. It's difficult to compare, with both Eichel and Fantilli being in draft classes with generational level prospects, but Macklin seems to be outpacing both of those guys. Misa however is nowhere near a lock for 1st overall in 2025 at this point, and I'd think James Hagens has surpassed him on most boards already, but it's of course too early to tell.
@@TheBusinessWalrus alot of Scouts are comparing Celebrini to Towes. For a short period Towes was considered the second best player in the NHL by many coaches. His heath took a dive early in his prime around 28 years old. Celebrini compares himself to Towes and Crosby. He's top six for sure. Like this Catton kid alot if Hawk don't get no 1. D men will be tempting. But there always a crapshoot and take long to develop.
@iCoolaxe I think they're above average, it's like saying the drafts after 2015 aren't great because McDavid wasn't in it
Gavin Mckenna is in the draft after Misa
Whoops. Yep you’re right
McKenna is a late birth date, he goes in the draft the year after.
I played with Terry Ryan in pewee. He had like 400 goals in 80 games our final year. We played in front of packed stadiums at the international pewee tourney in Quebec. He played junior B at 14 and was drafted in the first round by the Canadiens.
Packed stadiums ? You would have only played in one stadium Le colise where the nordiques played and the games didn’t get full and buy full I mean 10,000 plus in the stands beginning in the quarter finals
First time hearing about McKenna. Good lord this kid sounds like fire. Can't wait to see his progress.
casuals shouldn't judge prospects
He’s from the same town as Dylan Cozens
@@crime_dog27 u dont know your capitals their is only 14 to remember. its the capital city of the Yukon , are u dumb ? capital cities are not towns ... even a 5ht grader knows this stuff

One on Lane Hudson would be awesome. Such a unique player. So unique that I'm not sure he'll have a traditional role/position in the NHL.
I hope MST will see the opportunity to innovate with him (like a 3+1 "forwards" and a single real def - a situational tool, yes, but still extra leeway for the coach)
I haven't really watched him play at all but does his his brother Cole (likely first rounder this year) play the same way? They have 2 other brothers but Quinn is a RW (playing with Lane and Macklin Celebrini at BU) and Lars is just 15 years old.
@@jonmendelson1104Cole is fairly similar, but his deception isn’t as good as Hutson yet. Also his defences is worse.
@@jonmendelson1104 I mean, there are comparable aspect in a few other young stars and future (imho) ones, but Lane is a D, but almost in name only. His skating on tight spaces is something I've never seem before, period. Like it's as if he has bionic ankles or something; it's beautiful in a way. Definitely recommend to check him out, you'll understand what I mean.
IDK how anything he does will work and/or be used for in the NHL, but we'll see. His numbers everywhere he went were either elite or straight up record breaking, so he'll get his shot with the big boys for sure.
Lane Hutson is awesome. Gonna try to see him and Celebrini play sometime this month
Lane hutson should be a forward
Yeah, Celebrini is a fantastic shooter, but thats like the 3rd most prominent element of his game. Hes more of an all around sound hockey player that happens to have world class skill. Kind of likeTrottier Yzerman, Sakic, Toews
Next Crosby?
So much crazy talent coming into the league these days. Awesome!
So glad to be able to watch McKenna play for my hometown team, and have Bedard on my favorite NHL team. They are both amazing athletes so early in their career and really know how to put on a show for hockey fans, it's unbelievable.
I've followed Minnesota high school hockey for decades and attended many state tournaments. I remember in the early 2000's Holy Angels Academy had a powerhouse team, wiping out the competition in the state tournament. That season they had played St. Mary's Shattuck and were shutout 6-0. That team is something else.
Minnetonka would def give SSM a run for their money this year. Might be the most loaded team in MNHS hockey history.
@@KempsStudio I don't know how schools are able to keep their stud players from leaving to juniors. I'm a Moorhead guy and we lose every great player after their junior year, even some after sophomore year to the junior teams. We are like Kentucky or Duke, never playing with seniors.
few guys are from my area, for example David Špaček, Dominik Kubalík, Adam and David Jiříček and from the older generation Petr Sýkora and Martin Straka
That’s crazy. What’s your local population?
Yep we had a local guy! Luc Bourdon, what a player but tragically died in a motorcycle accident on the road who's reputation is the worst in the region probably due to speeding and immense cross winds
Nick Suzuki grew up down the road from me, his dad plays Saturday morning hockey with a bunch of us.
Surprisingly. We had three players play in the NHL. Eddie Beers. Paul mulvey, and his brother Grant... All from the little town of Merritt, B.C. A town of 7,000 people in British Columbia, Canada.
I grew up in Winnipeg in St.Vital on the same street as Nigel Dawes. I used to play street hockey with him growing up. He’s about 8 years older so once he made it to the NHL, he would join my team as a guest coach once a year. Really nice guy. Toews also grew up in the same area and they eventually named our community centre after him. Played against many that made it to the NCAA or WHL. Only player I played against that played in the NHL was Adam Brooks on the Leafs. Side note: I also grew up and played against the infamous Travis Ridgen aka trav4oilers haha
Gavin didn’t get ES, he got denied, they’s a rule of 15 games in the WHL for underages but he’s allowed to play if they’s an injury or play offs. So he got in more games then he should. We were at fishing when he got denied
Troy
Drafted off our high school team when we were a dynasty in Illinois back in 2006. Yeah he was a late rounder but we were ecstatic. Then the guy chose a girl over a future in hockey. I hear they’re still together and happy to this day so..idk 🤷♂️. I wasn’t that good and was jealous and mad for a long time.
Troy’s dad was Nick Leddy’s board/host when he played for the IceHogs. Kept trying to set Leddy up with my now wife.
We joke to this day that she chose me over Leddy. Nbd. 😎lol
his future was most likely the echl or simliar paying leagues 500$ a week no stability dosent sound great ... alot of late rounderss dont even have a ahl future ... why be a bum in the echl struggling when u can get a real job
Awesome video! Loved it. The future is bright for hockey!
Gavin is the real deal. He plays for our Medicine Hat Tigers.
I’m from the uk so the closest person in my local area is probably Liam kirk who was the first Brit to be born and trained to ever get drafted. Of course there’s someone even more local up in scotland, Tony Hand who if never got homesick could have been a nhl player and be the first Brit to ever play in the nhl
Tony hand!!!! The Scottish gretzky. 8 points in 3 WHL games... what could have been
Yes I played junior B and went to high school with Scott Levens he played 8 years in the NHL. Spokane WA. There's about 5 guys now that play in the NHL and a dozen in the AHL that were born raised in spokane Wa
As for players from my area in the show, I went to the same highschool as Sean Kuraly, though he graduated right before I went in.
Being the NHL draft delay, and the best accomplishments up and comers can pull off is like 3 or 4 goals a game. It's actually kind of funny to me. My record so far is 20 goals in the first period. Everyone is trying to be the next McDavid. His skills are definitely easier to catch than mine are, but I wonder who will ever have the closest chance to keep up with my performance on the ice.
Do a WATN for
Aron Kiviharju
Aito Iguchi
Kaden Galatiuk
The Yukon legend himself
Michael Misa and Gavin McKenna are def gonna be stars in the show
It'll be interesting to see...Misa's been falling down the rankings and is being talked about as more of a Shane Wright level player than a Bedard/McKenna type and I've seen him projected to go in the 4-6 range in the 2025 draft as opposed to 1st. Obviously it's still very early and things can change but it's possible he's just a very good player in the show as opposed to a star.
As a Flyers fan, its been a LONG time since I've been this excited about a prospect like Michkov. And yes, I too have been frustrated about how they don't seem to really commit to rebuilding haha.
don't be too excited too quickly, Michkov will decide where he signs when he comes to the NHL and it won't be the flyers, it will be for the habs!
@@habs7646lol posting some dumb shit, typical Habs fan
Man habs fans are so delusional 🤣@@habs7646
@@habs7646you can say that again as a habs fan also he didnt want to play for us dont matter tho cause we gonna tank again for this player and flyers are going to chase for playoffs since they have michkov
10:55 "Has your local area ever had a kid who made it to the NHL." Celebrini played a season for the Jr Sharks and as you said he's very likely to go 1OA this year. Does he count as my local area or since he's from Vancouver does he count for them.
Jason Arnott and Todd Miller. Todd was drafted by the Islanders but only ever wanted to coach. Many believe he's the best player of the two. Edit... there were only about 10k people in my town at the time.
Wow. That McKenna’s kid is just filthy good.
When you were showing the replays of his goals and such.
If he keeps up that dodging the opponents and end up alone to score a goal. He’s gonna be a good one. Mathews does the same.
But this kid. Just wow. Wouldn’t it be funny if the Hawks ended up drafting him to play along side his cousin Bedard. That’s a NASTY 1-2 punch.
I feel like we will have to stop calling them "generational talents" at some point if there is a new one coming into the league every year.
seymour, the house is on fire
I see a lot of Bedard mixed with Datsyuk in McKenna. We fans are in for a treat in the next few decades.

Brad Lambert years before his draft was just unreal. Then fell to the 30th in the draft. Kid still has ton of potential, but not nearly as much the hype like a 1st overall draft pick he was supposed to be.
Lambert has an attitude problem. If he figures it out and is willing to do the work needed, he's gonna be phenomenal.
How is he so tall, while only being a year older than me
7:50 bro where’d the birds come from
Thought i was tripping
So Celebrini is going to be an Arizona Coyote as a last chance by Harry Buttman to save Hockey in the desert.
Also, Michkov's dad was murdered by the FSB, probably for trying to get his son to defect across the new iron curtain.
I live in town where the Chicaho Steel play, saw Mac play last year. Obvious talent. He will do well in the nhl, he's a natural goal sniper
I’m having fun watching Misa & the boys with the Saginaw Spirit this year. Just hoping my town can do justice hosting the Memorial Cup this spring.
These video are sooooo good Rob! Another top episode 🙂
Mckenna and Misa are back to back drafts. I think you said that they were in the same NHL Draft. MIsa is 2025 and McKenna is 2026
If you look at the whl especially medicine hat tigers, prince Albert raiders, Saskatoon blades, and prince George cougars those 4 teams will be carrying the whl and maybe even the chl
GM- Celebrini, what postion do u play?
Celebrini - I score goals
Alex Laferriere on the kings grew up a couple towns over from me
seth jarvis is our local boy, lots of my coworkers played with him as kids
what is lots why doo u have over ten coworkers that are in his age group to actually play hockey with him which is only 2 years
Trevor Moore is from Thousand Oaks, CA, about 20 min drive from where I grew up.
Not hockey but a kid i went to High School with won the World Series in baseball. My closest brush to sport greatness even though i never interacted with him really.
My little town had one guy who actually made it to the NHL and won 3 Stanley Cups its Niklas Hjalmarsson. I remember watching him play with our senior team on defence as a 14 year old against fully grown men and just wreck them.
Gavin Mckenna was not granted exceptional status as a 15. he played extra games due to the Tigers Injuries and was granted an Emergency Exception. Mckenna is also not Bedards' cousin. Their are a ton of media articles saying they are cousins, but that isn't the case - Lifelong MH Tigers Fan
I mean technically he was granted exceptional status. He was also drafted a year earlier which is as close to exceptional status as it gets. And major publications have reported he’s a distant cousin as in 2nd and 3rd cousin. Not his direct cousin, but still a cousin. Hockey runs deep in the family
Sorry you were right on the cousin thing. It's cousin by marriage. He wasn't granted an exemption though by hockey canada. He has a "late birthdate" of December 20th, so even though this year is his "16 year old season". He is still only 15 until december 20th,. Nonetheless His talent is mindblowing and he's so calm on the ice.
You see a kid rack up 200 points as a peewee and you've gotta wonder what he's learning skating around 2 legged pylons and scoring at will.
Thank you for not cropping out our logo when you use our footage! It means a lot
Of course. I love your work, keep it up!
Austin Mathews is Arziona’s “local” hero considering the entire state is practically in one league for every level
Cochrane Alberta where i live has had a few guys make it to the nhl, most notably dillon Dube, who is currently on the flames.
Had no idea cellebrini played for the steel
Used to play at the edge all the time
Looks like the rink hasn't changed much in 10+ years
This video dropped 14 hours ago. Bedard and McKenna are trending on elite prospects in slot 1 and 2...
I’m a couple years older than Trevor Moore, used to watch him play when I’d ref at your idea when he was in his early teens! Being a kings fan I love watching him play for his childhood team, dudes on a career year to start the season
Also got the honor of playing against thatcher demko in some pick up games when he was 15-16, kid was huge and unbelievable in net! Still tell people about him and that I snuck one past him on a breakaway…I leave out the him being 16 part tho 😅😅😅 hell of a goalie and young man tho
Did you know former Bruins and Habs small forward Sergei Samsonov was a legend in the minors in Russia ?
He socred goals to the Gretzky pace in the major junios too
Remember seeing the tigers ig post about his first game very cool to hear his full story
Misa is 2025 draft eligible and McKenna is 2026, not the same draft.
Is the KHL second to the NHL, anything like the Russian millitary is second only to the USA?
I have a feeling that michkov won't step on American ice. I think this is just how every draft class will be from now on. Kids have access to learn every skill from TH-cam and other media. Times are changing
I recently got to watch mckenna in the u17 tournament in PEI and man he looks really good
I've been on this kid since catching him in a WHL game late last season but I had no idea he was related to Bedard lol
Hometown is St. Albert so have some awesome people from here messier, iginla, parankyo, and more hoping the savoie brothers make it
Iginla dosent call it home tho
My mother went to the same high school as Steve Yzerman at bell high school in bells corners ottawa
Pat maroon and Clayton Keller both came from the St. Louis area
Gonna be the best indigenous hockey player
The WHL looks like the NHL in the late '80s. Hockey is evolving.
I'm gonna go on a limb but I think Cayden Lindstrom will make a impact in the NHL. he plays on the same team as Gaven Mckenna
this is why europeans are doing great in nhl. they are playing vs men or older boys alot earlier in their career then in US/CAN. Leo Carlson´s stats are actually better in NHL then in EU.
Great video sir
Bowen byram grew up just a few houses from my grandma.
I think Celebrini will be more valuable player than Bedard will ever be.
Him and Mesa are in back to back drafts 2025 and 2026 Mesa in 2005 and him in 2026.
Hate to say this but Misa is getting drafted 2025 with Mackenna getting drafted 2026

Mike Matheson grew up in my area and went to my school
Yall talking about celebrini being the best ncaa prospect forgetting when Paul Kariya put up like 130 points
Finally 100k? (its been since 2019)
Noah Dobson is from my small hometown
some kids who barley made the nhl and aren’t really making a splash are these tkachuk brothers i think their names are brady and matthew? but the real man is the 3 time cup winner pat maroon
The league is in very good hands
You should cover more prospects?
Hockey players from my town: Kris Letang and Jose Theodore
Sounds like Napoleon Dynamite in need of a turbo-charged neti pot.
Logan Couture born and raised in Guelph Ont
Misa and McKenna are different draft years.
Have a few from our surrounding nation, Ethan & Kirk Bear
It's all a mater of when the body gets its final heights/mass ratio. I ended growing up at 10 or so, but NHL future stars are way more athletic than I was so ther ebecomes a point if they have their growth push yet or not to become able to face off oolder dudes. 1st year of high school (7th grade in candad) I was able to stand up to senios in 5th high school grade (12th grade overall in canada). 11 to 16 in high school i was my till permanent height of 5'11"3/4 or 6ft depending on the foot I stand on
Does anyone know if Bedard and McKenna are first cousins or distant cousins? Like did they grow up together?
It’s a distant thing and by marriage from what I’d heard
Distant
Come on Kent Hughes dont screw up next year ! Draft forward !
Montreal getting a top 3 pick would be huge. Getting a superstar #1 would cement their core
Tim stuzle story is sick
How is it even possible to put up 39 points against 15 year old players while your 11
My kindergarten teacher was Andrew manipanes mom
Macklin is nowhere near where Eichel was at the same age
unlike bedard? there all same old same old bedard ?? changed nhl to the bedard show he ?even fills out chicago stadium
