This was really interesting to read through! Thank you very much for your constructive criticism, it'd be really cool to watch (and maybe even make a reaction video to) this video, if you ever decide to make it. Thanks for commenting!
I never thought I got triggered by JS&B level ranking video. Granite placement is proof that it was put as last by force, despite being one of few levels in game WHICH DON'T HAVE ANY RNG AT ALL and patters are always the same. Basiclly "it's hard, so last place". Such a stupid rule. By this logic I wonder where you would put Interlaced, lmfao.
Fair enough man, opinions are opinions! As I stated in the video, the reason that Granite is #48 is because I don’t like the WAY that the level is difficult; the level has a good pattern to it, but then ruins it by spamming tiny pellet explosions everywhere. RNG or not, it’s just an unneeded obstacle which adds needless hassle and too much distraction from the main level design. As well as this, the level’s music is quite harsh on the ears and in my opinion, just doesn’t sound very good. In this list, the difficulty of the level is irrelevant to its placement; for example, Deadlocked, a notoriously tricky level, is placed #2. This is because it feels incredibly fast paced and action-packed with AMAZING music which really fits the challenging mood of the level design.
@@JackIves "for example, Deadlocked, a notoriously tricky level, is placed #2" Which adds even more confusion to entire ranking when you were putting levels with repetitive design deeply down on list and Deadlocked is literally a perfect example of repetitive mess using only 3 enemies over and over until the end even in the same pattern. (I will not even talk about the most stupid exploit which let's you to stay in corner through entire track and get easy S-rank.) Opinions are opinions, yes, but at least try to be consistent with your reasoning which made some levels go really down or really up on ranking (and Deadlocked is perfect example of that).
@@Linkyop Almost all levels repeat level designs. The rankings are based on how fun the levels are holistically, and not just for the variety, although that indeed is a factor. Deadlocked does repeat some gameplay mechanics, however the big change while repeating these mechanics is moving the screen gradually quicker and quicker and quicker which adds to the rush.
Some things i wanted to mention 1. If you've ever grinded a s rank, you know that there's a thing as set rng. Every time you open a level, all the randomly moving projectiles randomise their movements ONCE and then never change unless you exit the level, meaning you can safely learn the patterns and die as much as you want, making no level truly rng. Even if you dont like the pattern you have gotten, you can still reopen the level to redet the rng and try again, so things like the spectra hexagons, mk humans and clash circles can all be learned. 2. Hard levels aren't neceseary meant to be sightreadable. Take geometry dash fir example, rarely you will find an extreme demon in which no learning at all is required, i even think learning a level to eventually remember difficult patterns such as creatures ov deception is actually pretty fun. 3. The la danse macabre exploit was actually patched and you can no longer do thay, making the scythe part actually remotely didficult. 4. Don't ever diss my glorious king shirobon again, fox is a peak song.
I'm sorry, but I kinda likw the RNG on these levels; it makes replaying it and/or seeign someone else play it fun to watch and play, I personally don't like it very much when theres a pattern I must learn every time, I likw to depend on my reflexes to dodge obstacles, sharpen them and feel good if I manage to avoid them all.
I agree how Barracuda is the best, it also seems to be more unique as it’s one of the few or the only level that has.. well.. triangles instead of your typical spiky balls. I would put Final Boss as number one because to me everytime I played it I feel my adrenaline rush as the boss chases me 😅 but also for the same reasons. Lastly, this was a great video of you sharing your opinions about the levels, nice job :D
My favorite levels are: 10 - Into the Zone 9 - Lycanthropy 8 - Cascade (The song is amazing) 7 - Dance of the Incognizant 6 - Spectra 5 - Spider Dance (THE REMIX IS SO COOLIO) 4 - Annihilate (Yes) 3 - Lightspeed 2 - Katana Blaster 1 - Wicked (The design of the level is challenging and easy at the same time, the song is amazing)
Something really annoying is that I only got close to getting an S rank on flowers of antimony hardcore once and the thing is the way I got hit was STUPID. I miscalculated my dash at the LAST second of the level causing me to get hit. That hurt mentally. I haven’t tried it since lol
@@Exodus702 That's because Annihilate actually has a comprehendible pattern and Clash just sporadically yeets the massive circles and squares about, hence why Annihilate was ranked better
@@JackIves logic gate keeper and granite even though it's not so much fun. But i loved the fact that u said milkyways was good. I loved that level cuz of the rush music, the unique attacks and so much more. And dubwoofer substep has just one problem that almost the whole level can be beatent by just staying on the sides.
I see everyone else do it, so here’s my top 5 least and most favorite levels. Least favorite: #48: Close to Me #47: Last Tile #46: Tokyo Skies #45: Interlaced #44: Uh, I dunno, Legacy? Most favorite: #5: Try This #4: Final Boss #3: Into the Zone #2: On the Run #1: The Lunar Whale (No, I’m not joking)
@JackIves Close to me has a huge problem with being way too long. It's the longest song in the game and the spike wall ending part is not fun because it's completely rng whether you get hit or not.
@@JackIvesHello this is me from The Future™️ uh and I wrote this comment when I was like… 12. I forget why Close to Me was my least favorite, in fact I remember hating Last Tile more at that point in time. I can only assume it’s because I wanted to be a contrarian. As one does. If you want a real least favorite level, uhhhh probably Tokyo Skies? Also, Legacy is “the cooler Daniel” to Yokuman Stage, so your guess is as good as mine as to what my thought process was there. In other news, Lunar Whale #1 is omega-based, but I see a noticable lack of Paper Dolls in my list. Final Boss and On the Run are above Try This as well, which I feel like is some sort of sin.
Here are my top 10 fav levels! 10. Termination Shock 9. Dance of the Incognizant 8. Airborne robots(Makes me remember when I played gd meltdown) 7. Dubwoofer substep 6. Wicked 5. The lunar whale 4. Houston 3. Milky ways(The song is so nostalgic! I remember hearing it in speed run 4 a long time ago!) 2. Creatures ov deception(Absolutely love the song) 1. Try this(The most perfect for the game) But here are my least favs: 53. Close to me 52. Commando Steve
@@JackIves It's extremely repetitive, which is a big problem for its long length, the majority of the level is the same boring attacks over and over again, the beginning is unique, but extremely slow, kind of like a worse version of Annihilate's beginning. The part with the room of saws has very annoying gameplay, and I absolutely hate the song
Milky ways is too high imo, it only has repetitive attacks that yes have variety but still uninteresting. Wouldn’t say drop it the whole list but not top 10 for me. Good video tho 👍
I think that song released as part of the Lost Chapter, which came out after I made this video. I'd love to revisit this list and update it though if enough people want that.
Kinda EXTREMELY surprised seeing granite at the last place, the whole jsab community like the level, because the sync is incredible, the visuals is decent. Your list is extremely surprisingly un-jsab community aproval(for the most part) Anyways here is my top 5 1. Last tile 2. Creture OV deception 3. On the run 4. Born survivor 5. Fox The level names in this game is the song name, that is why some names are.... questionable, also mortal combat is a joke level made to be hard because.... it fnuuy seeing people suffer.
I dont get how you dislike granite and creatures ov deception but put deadlocked at #2? I mean, it's your own opinion but deadlocked is way worse than the other two in terms of the arguments you stated ^^
Nah fair enough man, the reason I don't like Granite is because of the WAY the difficulty is presented; in Granite, the difficulty is mainly because of the tiny pellets that spew out from the sides of the screen. That isn't fun in my opinion, especially when the main focus is what's right in front of you. The tiny, spammed pellets just feel really unnecessary. Also, I think the music is really 'crunchy' and just not nice on the ears. With Deadlocked, the music is AWESOME and really hypes you up for a difficult level with its fast-paced, bass-y music. Also, the difficulty is presented without any spammed pellets which do nothing but get in the way. You need to find a path and stick to it while avoiding the exploding lines of pink above and below you. That's why I love Deadlocked but HATE Granite. As for Creatures Ov Deception, it's just an okay level in my opinion, because the music is on the bland side and it's quite a forgettable level. Thank you for your comment, I hope you enjoyed the video!
My top 5 Jsab levels are 5. Lightspeed 4. Try This 3. Spectra 2. Katana Blaster 1. On the Run At least it was like this before the Lost Chapter came out.
@@JackIves The big 'Nothing'. The music is so intense and the level does nothing. Everything else is okay, the first part with the big 'bomb' is great, but the hole is dragging the level down.
When I started the video: 😃 When I saw creatures ov deception wasn’t in the top 20:☹️ When I saw new game was the least favourite bossfight:👿 When I saw the rest of the video:🙂 When I realised that lost chapter wasn’t in the video because the lost chapter never came out yet:😠😡👿👹
Haha dw, I'm 100% gonna revisit this list! I'm waiting a few more months cuz I have a horrible feeling I'll make the script and post the video then there'll instantly be an update with new songs xD
I haven't actually played the 5 newest ones that have just released, so as of right now I can't give an opinion on them. I've seen footage of the spider boss one and quite honestly that's gonna have to be top ten!
After watching all of these videos I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't hate mortal kombat's gameplay 😂 Sure it's objectively bad, but I feel like it's not that hard to avoid the obstacles, you just need to completely focus on the right side on the screen and go where there isn't anything popping up To me it works and it's somewhat consistant anyway, and you just feel like a god when you pass it So yeah I'm one of the 3 or something people in the world who thinks mortal kombat is not that bad
my opinions on why you are wrong 1 termination shock is a bop wtf (i agree the level was bad though ) 2 logic gatekeeper is a jam (the level was really fun at the first checkpoint but the random squares were pretty bad) 3 sevcon was a blast to play and i really like the aesthetic change midway through bc it catches you off-guard but isnt unexpected (if that makes sense) (also its the best track on the glory days album im surprised it isnt above vindicate me) 4 i found new game fun and a jam, but i can get it consistently no hit bc the patterns and attacks are so repetitive and dont really change 5 into the zone i pretty much agree with except that V A P O R W A V E 6 i kinda think that final boss should have been higher, except that i got the visual attack bug multiple times rendering the level basically unplayable 7 vindicate me is a bop but i found the level unfun 8 justice for close to me i would put it top 5 ngl 9 i enjoyed dubwoofer substep (even though its name is spoonerised) but the music was painful in my ears 10 i did not enjoy barricuda. i though the music fit the snake vibe, but i didnt particularly like it. i think it was fun to play but the beat drop leaves you with very little to do. i think that honestly, try this deserved number 1. also, if the tutorial level (corrupted by danimal cannon (honestly one of the best tracks in the game)) was a full level, where would you place it? i think itd be areound the 20-15 mark cos its a jam, but pretty easy (obsviously).
Damn, nice comment! It's cool to see your own opinions! I think I'd place 'Corrupted' around the 20 mark. Also, looking back, I placed New Game way too low. I'd place it around 15-20 if I could rework the list. Also, Close to Me is an amazing stage, but just a bit too repetitive. Still AMAZING though.
@@JackIvesso in Pink Corruption, there’s a character called Lythorus. They get corrupted into Lycanthropy. Cube says “L-Lythorus? Is that you?” Lycanthropy says “It’s Lycanthropy, not Lythorus!” I hope you understand now.
Great video and nice list! I would be lying if some parts did make me sad (mainly the bashing of the granite level and the music of granite and logic gatekeeper, those are 2 of my favorite songs :,)) and some did come out as weird (deadlocked high up even though it falls into the repetitive category, I wish they changed up some of the x box patterns) but otherwise enjoyable video
Thanks for the criticism, glad you enjoyed the video! In my opinion, the worst kind of level design is a level that is already pretty difficult, but then they just spam tiny pellets flying in randomly from all directions which adds far too much confusion and can easily throw the player off their rhythm and make them take unnecessary damage. That, to me, is all what Granite is. And the music of that level in my opinion is just so bass boosted and “crunchy” with not much obvious melody or tunefulness. Same with Logic Gatekeeper; the music is very bass boosted and loud, but looking back, it’s definitely a fun song, just with less fun gameplay mechanics.
@@thaiisfood I get that some people much prefer that playstyle, but to me I prefer moving along to the beat, not spamming my dash to avoid dozens of tiny pellets that do nothing but get in the way of the main level design. That's one of the reasons why Barracuda is number 1; there's none of that, and the entire level is focussed on its amazing gameplay, and not background distractions. Plus the music is an absolute BOP
@@JackIves one more comment from me, even though it sounded like I was bashing on deadlocked, I absolutely love the music and the level is nice and challenging
I loved the critisism from your side but i didn't like the fact that you said "for mediocres this level would be hard and not fun". It is supposed to be a hard game tbh so even if it's not fun u can't really say that even though I'm pretty much of a mediocre.
@@curaphysicaltherapies8077 Fair enough! Most people are disagreeing with Granite being ranked worst. I don’t like the WAY that the level is difficult; the level has a good pattern to it, but then ruins it by spamming tiny pellet explosions everywhere. As well as this, the level’s music is quite harsh on the ears and in my opinion, just doesn’t sound very good.

The thing I love about this video is how much debate it's sparked in the comments. You're actually only the first person to agree with me that Granite isn't very good, and a surprising amount of people (at least, surprising to me) have said that they didn't really like Close to Me. The song is annoying but the whole deconstruction gimmick saves it from being worse. 4. Yokuman stage. Super forgettable. The song sucks and so does the gameplay. 3. Annihalate. This level. Wow. I s ranked it on both difficulties and while never play it again. 1. Close to Me. Honestly I wouldn't hate it as much if it wasn't so unbelievably overrated. The level is too long. The gameplay is boring and repetitve and the worst part abput it is the song. I dont see how people like it. Its literally close to me repeated over and over again with a few mediocre intermissions. (I will not even talk about the most stupid exploit which let's you to stay in corner through entire track and get easy S-rank.)
Opinions are opinions, yes, but at least try to be consistent with your reasoning which made some levels go really down or really up on ranking (and Deadlocked is perfect example of that).
@@JackIves i do agree for a fact that granite is a good level but because of the pellet the player gets extremely conscious and can't enjoy the music.
@@ddx5899 Yeah maybe so, I'm definitely in the minority when I say I dislike Granite
Some things i wanted to mention
@@therealgookie good points! I’m going to be remaking this video very soon
Finally somebody put Try this at least in top 5! That my favorite level
It’s a BANGER
I watched all of this and it was worth it! Never played the game but you kept my attention with your amazing commentary. Great video!
Thanks bro! This took weeks to edit lmao, glad it paid off! :D
@@JackIves No worries. Really enjoyed it
Agreed! It's super well commentated, I love it
I'm sorry, but I kinda likw the RNG on these levels; it makes replaying it and/or seeign someone else play it fun to watch and play, I personally don't like it very much when theres a pattern I must learn every time, I likw to depend on my reflexes to dodge obstacles, sharpen them and feel good if I manage to avoid them all.
That's fair enough! I'm looking to make this video again very soon, and my opinions have very much changed (for the better)
Milky ways is one of the most fun levels this game can offer. It is also noob friendly so my cousins enjoy it too when playing with me
I personally don’t like Granite because it repeats the same colour too much.
Yeah, far too much pink imo
Fr I really don't like Granite's pink aesthetic because no other level does it and it sucks.
Thank you dude! Final Boss is certainly a very intense level!!
Granite in last place? Can see that. It's the second worst for me: awful spacing and mechanics.

4 - Annihilate (Yes)
3 - Lightspeed

Flowers of Antimony is such a poorly designed level. I'm so sorry to hear this
Thank you it’s okay. I’ve gotten over it but it still stings a bit
Also weird thing I have managed to no hit S-rank annihilate on hardcore but not clash
@@Exodus702 That's because Annihilate actually has a comprehendible pattern and Clash just sporadically yeets the massive circles and squares about, hence why Annihilate was ranked better

#2: On the Run
#1: The Lunar Whale (No, I’m not joking)
Interesting top fives! You've got a solid #5-#1, but why on earth is Close to Me your least favourite level in the game?

It's pretty awful

After watching all of these videos I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't hate mortal kombat's gameplay 😂
Sure it's objectively bad, but I feel like it's not that hard to avoid the obstacles, you just need to completely focus on the right side on the screen and go where there isn't anything popping up
To me it works and it's somewhat consistant anyway, and you just feel like a god when you pass it
So yeah I'm one of the 3 or something people in the world who thinks mortal kombat is not that bad
I think it's too hectic, but MY GOD it's fun XD
my opinions on why you are wrong
1 termination shock is a bop wtf (i agree the level was bad though )
2 logic gatekeeper is a jam (the level was really fun at the first checkpoint but the random squares were pretty bad)
3 sevcon was a blast to play and i really like the aesthetic change midway through bc it catches you off-guard but isnt unexpected (if that makes sense) (also its the best track on the glory days album im surprised it isnt above vindicate me)
4 i found new game fun and a jam, but i can get it consistently no hit bc the patterns and attacks are so repetitive and dont really change
5 into the zone i pretty much agree with except that V A P O R W A V E
6 i kinda think that final boss should have been higher, except that i got the visual attack bug multiple times rendering the level basically unplayable
7 vindicate me is a bop but i found the level unfun
8 justice for close to me i would put it top 5 ngl
9 i enjoyed dubwoofer substep (even though its name is spoonerised) but the music was painful in my ears
10 i did not enjoy barricuda. i though the music fit the snake vibe, but i didnt particularly like it. i think it was fun to play but the beat drop leaves you with very little to do. i think that honestly, try this deserved number 1.
also, if the tutorial level (corrupted by danimal cannon (honestly one of the best tracks in the game)) was a full level, where would you place it? i think itd be areound the 20-15 mark cos its a jam, but pretty easy (obsviously).

@@The_Moth1 Heck yeah
@@JackIves I see, I understand why you don’t really like those 2 now 👍
@@thaiisfood I get that some people much prefer that playstyle, but to me I prefer moving along to the beat, not spamming my dash to avoid dozens of tiny pellets that do nothing but get in the way of the main level design. That's one of the reasons why Barracuda is number 1; there's none of that, and the entire level is focussed on its amazing gameplay, and not background distractions. Plus the music is an absolute BOP
