Not boring! Glad to see your technique. Now I will be braver about picking up some thrifted purses. I was afraid to get the leather trim wet, so I wasn't soaking them. But I can see, your method is awesome! Can't wait to try it!
@@thriftysoutherner9108 it's the excess water that is causing the problem.....try washing again and put it through the spin cycle in your machine to remove as much water as possible
I use hair spray from Dollar Tree to get ink off purses. Spray, let sit for a minute, then blot. Dawn is great for ink on fabric. I also use alcohol but before wetting the leather.
Not at all boring! Great tips!! How coincidental I was just looking at the LA Awesome OXI at Dollar Tree & wondering if it was any good! Will pick it up for sure.
I just throw mine in the washer gentle fast wash. Does just fine. Just air dry. I know it says not to do that but it works better than scrubbing because the monograms when you scrub with the brush start to rip.
I got a new but old Relic bag from thread up and it smells of old things you know what I mean. Should I just dunk and rinse and protect the handles? So disappointed to have to do this to a new bag. Great Job on the purse. Arlene in Texas
Probably. Thats what I'd do. If its not dirty, you could try airing it out outside under cover for a few days. Alsp coffee can work Ozium is a great last ditch step and works great.
Would really like to see what you use to recondition dark leather and what it is you mentioned "acrylic" ?? to paint the white/light handles.I've found Lexol to be great, sometimes it requires several coats and wiping of excess but is really luxurious when done.
Great job, the MK's bag; what a transformation. The bleed through, was disappointing to you I'm sure, but presoak it and I'm sure that bleed will come out. Great job and thanks for sharing, so interesting.
The brown stain is not necessarily dirt, it is the color of the inside lining. If you can pull out the lining of the bag, I'm sure it would solve the problem.
Not trying to be rude in any way, just have some criticism, but leather bleeds if you insert the whole bag under water. Could be the inside but I can almost guarantee it’s the leather. I have tips and tricks on how to clean from my Facebook page (my name on here is same on Facebook) also having a huge sale on bags if you like to clean and resell for a profit I have about 75 bags that are under $100 and some even for $50 but would definitely do a deal on them if bundled
To keep the inside of my purses clean from ink spots -- I place my ink pens in a small plastic "Ziplock" bag and put them in one of the lesser used pockets on the inside of my purse. Considering the amount of money that you spend on a quality purse why would you throw an ink pen directly into your purses lining? Simply place them in a ziplock bag and place them in a zippered pocket.
Yes! Milk works a treat as well as a plain aerosol hairspray. I often scoop rave specifically for this. THen, if it is on a trim I will saddle soap it then condition with kiwi leather treatment. Great video!
Great tutorial, thanks! Do you or anyone have any recommendation to clean suede? I have an old Coach bag I would like to clean and spruce up. Thanks for any recommendations!
The leather part of wallet is crying when it got soaked 😂

So NOT boring!! I learned a lot. Thanks
You can also use a few drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid in warm water and scrub with a nail brush.
Next time, after cleaning the purse, hang it upside down, leaving it opened. The water will drip down and not onto the other side
Good idea!

Thank you so much! This was very helpful and not boring at all 👍
I do this with my Vera Bradley stuff I get at thrift stores it works very well. On them. 💚
Thanks for the info. I found a similar bag 2 months ago. Now I know how to clean it. 😀
Wow that is neat. Good advice. I have always wondered about an effective way to clean purses.

Would also like to see how you painted the handles Thrifty. Australia 🐾🐾

Guinevere Pendragon Depending on leather, i've used saddle soap. I also have a video up of me cleaning vachetta on a Louis Vuitton.
Thanks, that really cleaned up nicely. I have to look for that stuff
I loved it, you do good work. Very helpful. Thank you. Happy New Year. Blessings
Pamular Carter Thanks Pamular!
I would love to see the handles painted and sealed. And with a Leather Coach purse would you also submerge it in water and wash it?
Pal D No, is condition and spot clean.
I use my dishwasher without heat. Works every time.
Diana Clark Good idea!
The Thrifty Southerner just don’t use the heat setting.

I would love to see the handles being painted
Hi. I have cleaned a vintage Coach leather bag in water in a sink with blue dawn. It worked. You do a good job.
Heather Hollie Haller Thanks!
The inside of the bag color wont fade away?
You really did a great job
Dawn dish soap maybe too???
You have to put a paper towel as you dry them so there will no black marks
Is it possible to clean the inside first? I got a purse i need to watch and its mostly dirty on the inside
The brown stain is not necessarily dirt, it is the color of the inside lining. If you can pull out the lining of the bag, I'm sure it would solve the problem.
If you put a towel inside when drying the bag would it still bleed through do you think 🤔?

did it destroy the interior of the wallet? I need to clean my lilly travel organizer and I'm so afraid...lo
Not at all
Don't you know you're to clean the inside first? Lol jk, great video!
This video was very helpful. Thank you Leslie

Great video. Thank you for sharing your cleaning tips.
My Michael korsbbackpack got hot Cheetos in it😭🤦🏽♀️
Adryana Porras LA totally awesome works wonders! My Facebook page name is the same on here if you want to add me. I’ve got a lot of tips and tricks
For ink...use hair spray...works every time
What do you recommend to cover water marks on leather?
palegirl27 it depends on what kind of leather.
What’s the product called again? I need this stuff for the cloth part on my Mk wallet like where the zipper is
Would this work for stains on the inside of my Micheal kors bag/the liner?
Very helpful! Thank you for the tips.
The perfect asmr video! Pleas do more of this
Did she use a conditioner?
I use cadillac leather conditioner on most all leather items.
Have you ever cleaned a juicy couture tote?
I had the brown to that one, I really loved it, pretty yellow and what editing software do you use thank you
Use milk for ink.
Interesting! Ill try that next time.
Thrifty Southerner grandma thought me that . Works on clothes also ;)

Suede is not my friend. I've messed up a few things.
Would love to see how to paint the handles.
Soaking would RUIN good leather. Don't use this for truly expensive leather!
Laura Jacobs Untreated leather, yes. Treated leather, no.
You should add that language/disclaimer to this video. Vachetta, lamb leather, caviar, etc. would bleed and/or be ruined by soaking.
Laura Jacobs Yeah, definitely.
I think reclean it
Might as well just toss it in the washing maching on gentle
Seymour Kitty I probably would have, but a video on hand cleaning was requested.
Thrifty Southerner the good ole American way aka the hard way lol
Please let us know what the material is.
Leather and canvas
Thank you! The yellow bag was canvas? I’m just shocked that you can soak leather! 😲
Nooo
That cardboard in wallet....
No cardboard in there. LOL
I'm interested in it.
Alcohol for ink
Paint the handles
Another lady on TH-cam said she puts her purses in a pillow case and puts them in the washer. She said leather and all lol
Wow! Brave

Are you kidding me putting that wallet in water !!! Don’t do this people!! Use upholstery cleaner and mr clean magic sponges
The leather is and was fine. Most put in the washing machine. No thank you to the chemicals in upholstery cleaner. Yuck!
Thrifty Southerner there’s no chemicals though in that dollar tree stuff ? Lol
That gets washed out. It's not left on the item indefinitely.
