Didn't take the 20 seconds to write to you before, but I really love your work. I hated to youtube boardgames to have an idea what a game is about, then 20mins+ videos came up. And your suggestions so far are spot on. Happy (board)gaming to you!
Keep it up! Now I'm sad didn't back Lords of Hellas on KS. You make it sounds much more palatable; whereas all the info available at the time was couched in how cool the figures were and esoteric details of what may (or may not) have been a workable system.
The info was there during the KS, but buried beneath a wave of "OMG, CHECK OUT THESE FIGS". Not surprised people thought that was all the game had to offer.
Just a suggestion: When you are listing different actions, you should display a number on the screen so it'll be easier to see when you move to the next action.
Different brains work in different ways - but I think it would be beneficial to experiment with it. It doesn't have to be numbers - it can be names of the actions or different pictures, or just a flash of the screen.
As a veteran Awaken Realms backer and someone who is self-admittedly a "sucker for good looking games with great miniatures", what is your take on their latest project, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon?
I still haven't backed it, but I probably will. But i'll probably not get the minis expansion. I missed on 7th continent and discover lands looks awful, so I am keen to get a story/exploration type game as I really do dig narrative in games as well. I was planning on reviewing all the vids and literature around it this weekend before deciding. But I suspect it will be one of those games, that even if it doesn't work out, i'll be able to on sell pretty easily. I didn't back nemesis, because i was poor AF at the time. But i'm playing it this weekend. Awaken realms have been 2 for 2 for me, if they go 3 from 3, that will also influence me.
@@3MBG I'm also a sucker for games that look great on the table, but haven't played an Awaken Realms game before. Despite that fact, I backed it a couple of days ago. I grew up reading fantasy and was really into the "Choose Your Own Adventure" genre for a while as a kid. I also rediscovered D&D as an adult and this feels like a great amalgamation of all of those concepts in a way that will allow me to interact with great narrative without doing so from behind a DM screen. They are also tapping the backer community for character concept development on the second expansion. Voting on character concepts and seeing the ideas they are generating has been a lot of fun. Shoot, if enough people back it, we could be getting a core game and two full expansions, which would be crazy! I think they had me without that, but I'll take more content for the same price, especially if the quality is consistent. That's right! You spoke really highly of This War of Mine as well! I need to stop watching your videos. My list is getting way too long!
@@3MBG Thanks. Does it work well with 2 players? My wife loves Cyclades, but wasn't the biggest fan of Blood Rage 🤣 Lords of Hellas looked like a hybrid to me.
Thanks for the video. A personal suggestion: sometimes its so fast that some words are incomprehensible even in 0.75 speed. The audio quality could be improved also in my POV in order to adress the issue. Again, thank you very much.
Apologies for the weird audio distortion in some parts of this vid. Had no idea how to fix it and will try to debug for the next video. Anyway, this is a great game and one I can see getting a heck of a lot more play.
Lol, If someone says "I'll be there in about 3 minutes" and they turn up 3 minutes 50 seconds later, do you say "that was more like 4 minutes" :) Single game vids in the series are 3:00 - 3:59. "Somewhere between 3 and 4 minute board games" doesn't have the same ring to it, but that's really what we do.

=-)
wow, finally a game video that isn't ad libbed and unedited. Thanks!
Ha! Yeah, that was the plan :)
Really like the format of your videos. Good job.
You seem to be binge watching them :)
As always thanks for the video. Keep seeing this on the used market. May have to pick up a copy.
I was skeptical I would learn about the game in about 3 mins.
But I have indeed learned and really liked the video format!
Nice job!

Great “should I invest in this game?” vids. Thanks!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Good to see that beautiful Spartan horde dominating the Peloponnese
I thought you would like that, and the Usurp example.
Just a suggestion: When you are listing different actions, you should display a number on the screen so it'll be easier to see when you move to the next action.
Not sure if that would help to be honest, info is coming thick and fast, and that would be just another thing to pay attention to.

I grew up on Fighting Fantasy and Choose your own adventure as well. So yeah, totally get where you are coming from here.
Would you recommend it for solo play?
Not really. The solo mode isn't its strongest point. I certainly wouldn't get it just for that

Not sure, I've always played it 3 or 4 player.
@@3MBG 👍
@@3MBG We played at 2 players last night and we had huge fun.
In English you say 'play time' or 'playing time'? Both correct?
I think both work, yes.

Cheers Theo. Since this video I have changed microphones and added subtitles to later vids, which should help with both those issues.

Great review Jarrod! Cool game that I'd like to play but not buy 💰💸💲🤑. Thx!
In about 4 minutes :p
