These videos are quite addictive. Great idea in making them. I think your showing the process from start to finish, with all the in-betweens is a good recipe. Makes it real and relatable.

"Take pictures before disassembly".👍🏼 Back in the earlier century 1986, I too did this but, then had to wait for the film to be developed. All in all it was a much longer process "back in the day".🙄😂

I always keep a 5 gallon bucket of NAPA carburetor cleaner around. Comes with a basket for your small parts and you throw a metal coat hanger through one of the mounting holes in that cylinder to hang it on the rim of the bucket and drop it in there for a couple hours and pull it out it'll look brand new. Pretty corrosive stuff but it definitely cleans up parts super good. Just remember to wear thick rubber gloves when handling it. You definitely know what you're doing though.

Runs great Joe.... definitely a bit lean on the low and mid though. Go up one size on the pilot jet and raise the needle one groove. Make sure your air screw is approx 1 - 1 1/2 turns out. Looking at approx 35:00 it looks like your air screw is way out so try adjusting that in first as that may be your whole prob. Lean means hot.... a misadjusted air screw can cause quite a bit of damage... careful ;)

First, I always enjoy these videos and I have picked up some tips. One improvement would be to wait to post a series of videos until you have finished the repair. I watch part one of a job and it ends without finishing then I have to wait or dig thru to find part 2. Just wait, release them both and put links to the other videos in each "episode".
I don't do enough of this kind of work to justify a parts washer, I dump enough mineral spirits in a 5 gallon plastic bucket to cover the parts I clean and pour used solvent in one gallon plastic jugs until next project. Good enough to get by. @2vintage

You can use the flat hones on plated cylinders, just go easy, lots of spray lubricant, Kroil works great, then P.B., Clean out with brakeclean, then hot soapy wash them. Never had a problem. Great job, that bikes gonna scream.

I would have mic'ed the cylinder and checked if it was to specs . Flushed out the cylinder with muratic acid ; it eats the little metal particals from the honing process them washed it out with soap and water . Blow it out with an airgun . Oiled the cylinder so it doesn't rust and start the assembly process . Our bikes would last for years ! Thank you for the video . Muratic acid can be found at any Swimming pool supply store . Mild and won't hurt the rest of the cylinder . Only use it for cylinders with sleeves . A Weisco Forged piston would last 2 to 3 times as long as cast . Also turn the entire engine upside down and flush out the crankcase with premix . Looks kinda dirty ! 😊

Be careful with how fast you run that ball hone in and out. You want to achieve a 35 degree cross hatch. You need to take some of that utube money and get a parts washer and since you now have a proper shop you definitely need a shop sink with running water and a drain! Makes your life/work so much easier easier!

I had a 1994 suzuki RMX 250 great "woods" tight trails. Bike has a headlight and heavy flywheel for low end. I had the same low-mid range pipe mine was fmf. I would run the 178 jet because of the pipe and only run 94 octane or better. Would be much crisper and check coolant level and clean radiator fins and straighten any bent over, because getting hot would cause the weird sound u say

Best way I've found to clean a cylinder, case's, power value, etc. Is Paint gun cleaner!! Comes in a 5gal bucket, with a dunk tray!! Soke them for 8-12hrs Comes out completely clean of carbon build up, and or any paint/ powder coat!! Also, the shank of the drill is the size of the cutting diameter in most cases! 🤷

I've watched tons of your videos and enjoy the content! I also have a couple decades of experience working on motorcycles. My biggest criticism (makes me cringe every time!) STOP USING HANDHELD SCREWDRIVERS ON Phillips/JIS SCREWS! Impact screwdriver EVERY time! It gives you more torque because of the girth of the handle using it by hand, but if there's even the slightest chance it's not gonna free up gove it a smack with the hammer and it's loose. Trust me you'll never go back!

Steel sleeves, like what this one has, are magnetic. All aluminum cylinders with nickel coated cylinders have no iron for a magnet to stick to. The nickel/aluminum transfers heat more quickly than the steel sleeve but has a shorter life span.

The over-bore piston combined w the aftermarket pipe will require more fuel..gotta learn to fine tune a carb..changing jets, needle height and air screw make all the difference in the world! Idle should be low n hear a tink tink sound..😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 and for everyone talkin bout break in, it doesnt matter..its been proven in a lab..theres a video on yt!

I've never taken a power valve engine apart. Very interesting.

Its the opposite with the hone. You never use a ball hone for a 2 stroke. You always hone incorrectly. Stopping in then reversing then stopping before you pull it out.

Was the bore measured after that hone job?

Not a two stroke guy. Can you explain power valves and what they do?

I would try to adjust the air fuel screw. It should even out.

Idle mixture screw adjustment would probably fix that Surge “

Nice rebuild, you really take the time to make sure everything is to spec, even adjusting the jetting. Good Job! Keep up the goof work!
