I’m from Berlin and a former speech therapist. Let me tell you: German is extremely hard and most natives have their trouble with it! You wouldn’t believe how bad we are at our own language. I’m still finding things I’m doing wrong, at 30 and with this background! Most of the time, we understand what non-native speakers are trying to say, so, as you said, trying is most appreciated! Don’t be scared, no one is judging you ♥️

That "Ich bin so heiß"-story is hilarious 😂 I'm German, but I've lived in a few countries and I know those situations too well, both happening to me as well as to friends. Learning other languages and traveling are such important tools to learn to understand others, both literally and figuratively. I've always felt so lucky to have been able to travel and live in countries other than my own, and it's a shame that it's still a privilege not available to more people.

I love your cats. I love seeing how much you love them and how much they love you. It is very obvious. Please keep allowing them to stroll in while talking. It brings me a lot of joy. I have 3 cats myself and love them as you do. I have a Leonardo Da Vinci but I just call him Leo. I have a Nat King Cole but he is called Cole (he is black as Coal). I named him Nat King Col because his eyes were so soulful. He was a stray and I couldn’t resist those eyes. That is the only way I could describe them. And Nat King Cole’s voice is so smooth and soulful. And i have Pearl named after Janis Joplins album.

That's really true. I see a combination of Dolly Parton's energy and Barbara Eden's energy in there, without talking any esoterical garbage, but it really feels like it 😊 Feels like you're sitting in her living room and just hanging out with a long-time friend

    Hello Jeannie!
I am (somewhat) newly subscribed to your channel and I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for what you share here on TH-cam. Your maternal warmth and genuinity is very palpable even through the screen.
Within the last few years, I have lost both my grandmothers and my grandfather and my father has been taken over by end stage Parkinson’s. As a result, I sometimes feel a great chasm where that parental/grand-parental force used to be. What you share here brings so much comfort during those low moments and I’m so grateful that you are brave, open, willing to share your life wisdom, experiences and stories with us. As it happens, I grew up in Northern California as well so the images of that beautiful part of the world add to the familiarity and comfort of what you share.
I know you have so many subscribers and messages so please do not feel pressured to reply! But just know that your contribution to the ASMR community reaches beyond just ASMR and touches the heart in a real way.
Sending you, your husband, your mom, your kids and grandkids (and not to forget the kitties ;)) many well wishes for health and well being. 🤗
    With gratitude,
    Abby

We always had a lot of fun sharing language hiccups among our ex-pat community in Austin, TX when I lived in the States for 13 years. One Polish friend of mine was invite to an Indian restaurant for dinner called "Star of India". She was appalled and thought that the name was very inappropriate because she understood "Starve India". Your German sounds pretty good, by the way!

I chuckled about your husband's haircut. Thanks for sharing this stories and tips for travel. I needed this. This morning I got an awful panic attack, because I decided to move from Puerto Rico to US. I'm still terrified of my decision(typing this, is making me cry). The mere fact that I have to leave or sell most of my things,it break my heart. Most of them used to belong to my late mother. I can't afford to send all of this.
I'm still not sure if a made the right choice. But I need a better job, something that I can't do it here. And I don't even know where to start. What documents I need, I feel so so afraid. Plus my agoraphobia is not helping me. But thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

It's true,! Some of my best experiences of travelling involve locals from those countries. The 2 boys from Belgium who we stayed with (some of our very best friends now), the old man in Japan who stopped to talk about the world's affairs at the time, the bar tender who I drunkenly stood up for when some tourists were being rude for the slowness of the service (there were so many people and only 2 servers) - he gave me and my partner a free glass of bubbly at the end of the night to say a thank you. These people exist everywhere and are keen to share the world with you on your travels and more importantly, enrich those travels. Attempting to learn a language and learn about people that live/work in that country can be a lovely and funny experience, and mistakes in language make the best stories - I have a fair few myself! Be kind, be friendly and unlock all of the best memories of travelling!

I'm so glad to not be the only one who appreciates the beauty of language and travel. Had I the time, I'd devote myself to so, so many different languages - starting with Italian, to better understand my heritage...and because, of course, it's gorgeous. My Papa took me everywhere with him for his work when I was a youngin', and becoming engrossed in all these different cultures did wonders for me - I wish such luxuries were more accessible for people of every socioeconomic status. Also, your Spanish sounds lovely! He estudiado la lengua por muchos años también, pero nunca tengo la oportunidad para usarlo.
"I am very hot" - I would have had to fly back home immediately and never leave the house again 😂💀
Also: THANK YOU for being the kind of person who would stop their world to make an overworked person feel a little less invisible. I will never forget the day (back when I was bussing tables to get through college) when a woman pressed a generous tip into my hand on a holiday and personally thanked me for making her feel welcomed and cared for. I was working alone for days on end, had been sick all week, and been treated horrifically, yet that completely turned my week around - and I'm positive you've done the same for each person you've impacted with your words, your tips, and your comforting spirit.
