I love old ads, for some reasons they have the power to make me feel really nostalgic for a time I wasn’t even born yet (I’m 1984)!
11:02 i read the archie comics growing up because my mom liked them as a kid, but i’m 21 and i feel like most people my age know of them through a show called riverdale! it’s basically a rebrand of the comics and has all the same characters (it fell off and completely changed the plot after awhile though haha!)
I completely forgot about my hop scotch marker! I grew up in the 80s and had a heavy blue hop scotch marker that I’d use with the neighbor kids, and they all had to use rocks. Thanks for that memory!

When I was little, we would go down the shore for summer vacation every August. My mom always bought me Archie Comic Books when at the shore. I would say this was from age 8 to 11. It was also the only time during the year when I would have soda to drink....Dr. Pepper to be exact. Thank you for bringing some of my childhood back to me. I have the urge to buy a comic book 😂

This was really fun; I love old ads.
My mom also didn't allow a lot of sugary foods and drinks in our house, except for special occasions like birthday parties, summer barbecues, or when guests were over. She did let us have Pepperidge Farm cookies for a snack sometimes because she believed they were better quality than Oreo's or Twinkies and the like. I was always envious of my friends who got those Hostess chocolate cakes with the white curly line on the top.
You unlocked a core memory when you mentioned Ditto Jeans. I had to go look them up and a flood of memories came rushing in.

I used to have a whole little "suitcase" type box full of 45s and of course the little yellow plastic adapters to put in the middle hole of the record HA HA I wish I still had them!! And my old Magnavox record player that had been my dad's!!

For what it’s worth, your eye makeup is done so well you can’t even tell you have a black eye 😄 also, there is a TV show loosely based on the characters from the Archie comic! It’s called Riverdale, and definitely aimed towards teens, but my dad (born 1969) recognized the character names & archetypes when my sister and I were watching the show. We had no clue it was a comic until he mentioned it!
I have to check that out. Yes, Riverdale was the town or high school in the comic book, I believe.
Oh this was awesome and I remembered so many of these! Razzels, I so remember Candys shoes, Jiffy pop Josie and the pussycats and dark shadows (I think I’m the opposite of young)

I’m about 11 weeks pregnant(yay!) and I have been STRUGGLING to fall asleep because of all of the hormones and just adapting to the changes. They turned dark shadows into a movie not top long ago. Johnny Depp played Barnabas Collins and Alice Cooper was also in it. There's a scene where Barnabas throws a party for the teenage girl (can't remember her name) and Alice Cooper is playing music and Barnabas mistakes him for a woman because of the name Alice and calls him a hideous woman. I thought it was hilarious lmao! I also remember the sugar sugar song by the Archies being played in the bee movie with Jerry Seinfeld in it.
