Thanks for the shout out Jeff. I truly appreciate. I mostly work on old cars and use them brake drum tools quite a bit. Wish I had them distributor wrench’s. Mine are just some cheap ones that don’t work that well. Thanks again.

Jumping in as instructed. 😜. I have the same brake spring tool (that's what I always called it). I have both of the distributor wrenches. I haven't used them in years but planning on using them on a project car. Craftsman is in the house. Thanks Jeff!

Thank you for another Great Video 👍 I still think the Blue Matco's ratchet is the right color for me
Actually any of them will do nicely. I enjoyed watching today's video. Again thank you 👌

I just got through replacing cap, rotor and plugs on a 1985 C4 Corvette with SBC 350. After the new parts installed we discovered the distributor locking bolt was loose. And it took me 20 minutes to dig out my wrench to tighten it up then another 15 minutes to find the old SNAP ON timing light.
But boy did I enjoy working on something so simple! And it only takes a paper clip to read the OBD1 codes……back when Chevy thunder ruled to road?

Jeff, congrats already on the viewership of the 8000 subscribers giveaway video! As a fellow ratchet collector, I would love to see you make a video on your routine for lubricating and maintaining your collection. I personally use Seafoam Deep Creep to wipe down all my tools to prevent rust. I lubricate any ratchet with 86 teeth or less with Superlube and greater tooth count I use Ultra Slick assembly lube with a few drops of Deep Creep to keep the pawl from sticking to the anvil when it's cold outside. I know this could be quite a production to go through the process, but I'm sure the longevity of a video like this would get views.

Thanks Jeff. I haven't seen one of those Craftsman Oil filter wrenches in 30 years. One of my kids bought me a Chinese version a few years ago. It also sucks.

Another great video. I own most of those tools. I use my brake tools, but I had to buy some smaller adjuster tools for Ford E brakes. Distributor wrenches are in a cardboard box on the shelf. I have one of those oil filter tools. I should have thrown it away thirty years ago. It would mangle the filter before it came loose. I wonder how they sold so many. I guess it looked slicker then a band tool.

I remember using all those tools, I never liked the oil filter wrench either. Ahh, the good old days when you could fix a car/ truck w simple tools. No scanners, no obd, just plain tools. You could sit in the engine bay of a truck, and not need a jack to work under it😂😂

I had both the brake spring pliers and adjusting spoon. My pliers broke and I was able to warranty them at Sears Hardware. The replacement pliers were a little shorter. I don't run into many drum brakes nowadays. Hope all is well Jeff!

Thanks Jeff , I must have three or four of the brake adjusting tools from various manufacturers and all made in Japan? They must have been the only ones able to make them back in the day. Thanks again

No there were US sourced ones as well, many made by KD Tools for various companies including Sears. You just got the Japan made ones, and yes they were common back then as well.

Hi Jeff, thinking about vintage tools, I was looking at those old school style speeder drive handles and it might be cool for a review idea.
Currently snap-on and Mac Tools still make news ones priced at $65.
The Mac tools has a quick release lock ring to hold sockets.

The only tool that I have that's in your video is a distributor wrench It's a new Britain not the script one it's the regular print which I believe is the lower cost one and no size on it but I believe it's a half inch I don't use it it's just part of my new Britain collection been trying to think of how it could be used beyond it's purpose I'm sure there is a possibility but I haven't found it yet lol thanks for sharing my friend take care

  • @googleusergp
    @googleusergp 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

Yes, all of them. Yes, that oil filter wrench "works", but not as well as other designs. The cap style wrenches work better. It's likely that KD Danaher made that for Sears.
The drum brake tool has a "P" makers mark meaning that Wilde made it for Sears. They are still in business in Hiawatha, KS. KD-Danaher (maker code "F") also made those for Sears in some years.
Yup, the "spoon" was made by Daido tools in Japan (KD also made a version for Sears). I believe Sears tried experimenting with Japan sourcing for a time to save money and it "worked", but there was a bit of backlash and sourcing mostly went back to the USA. I bought a set of Japan made Craftsman (mixed in with USA made) wrenches from coworker who was retiring. If knew then what we know now........
The "Z" stamped distributor wrench I believe was also a K-D made product for Sears. Sears sold different ones for different make (Chevrolet, AMC, Pontiac, Ford, etc.).
I think a walkaround of the Chevelle (including the cowl tag which I will decode if you want---it doesn't have the VIN, so you're OK) would be a good video as well.
