Apparently, rickman's expression as he falls to his doom happened because the director had the safety harness "drop" him a short distance before kicking in. Rickman had no idea that was going to happen, hence the very real look of surprise and horror on his face
Do you know why Hans’s face looks genuine when he falls? It’s because the crew lied to Rickmen, they told him were going to drop him on the count of 3 but instead dropped him on the count of 1. So his reaction is real.
Why don't more folks make reviews of this quality more often. Great reviews like this are the reason I watch TH-cam.
While Decker's reviews aren't the main reason I watch youtube, they are certainly a great way to pass some time when I'm taking a break from gaming or work.

Kind of a random story. My uncle, Woody was his name, used to be a truck driver. Well sometime around the late 80's, he was hauling a shipment into Maryland (we're from Virginia.) The story goes that my uncle spent the night there before heading home, he visited a local bar to get drunk. There he met a very young Bruce Willis, at the time Bruce Willis had only really done the show Moonlighting (this was before Die Hard.) My uncle partied with Bruce Willis, he apparently Bruce Willis is a super cool guy. Thought that was cool.
Come on Decker. This review should be longer, after all it's an over two hours movie, the ending of the review feels too rushed, and a 30 minute runtime would be okay. Right?
Lukáš Helcl It's not too bad to push 25 minutes here and there in my opinion, but when one's going for 30... I feel the extended run time would have to be DAMN worth it. I wasn't quite as prepared this week as I would have liked... but yeah, I do see what you mean that the end of the review does feel rushed.
Hey Decker! Little known fact. When Arnold Schwarzenegger was approached to star in Die Hard, it was pitched to him as a sequel to Commando. He would have reprised his role as John Matrix and he would have been visiting his daughter Jenny. But when he turned the role down and Bruce Willis was cast in his place the character name was changed to John MacLean and his daughter Jenny was changed to his wife Holly.
That would been awesome !!! I'm glad we got die hard as it is but I want a sequel to commando

How about this? Jenny Matrix (played once again by Alyssa Milano) has grown up to become a doctor. She has joined Doctors Without Borders and travels the world bringing medical aid to people in underdeveloped third world countries. She and some other doctors are tending to peasants in some Asian country when the small farming community is attacked by the local opium cartel. They round up the healthy young men and boys to force them to work in their poppy fields.
Jenny manages to get a message out to her father before she gets captured. Colonel Matrix, knowing that he’s past his prime and can’t launch a one man rescue mission like he used to, recruits the toughest bunch of soldiers he had ever met. Former green beret, John J Rambo (First Blood franchise). Army Colonel John Braddock (the Missing In Action franchise). Former navy SEAL, Casey Ryback (the Under Siege franchise). Former Soviet spetznaz Lt Nikolai Rachenko (from Red Scorpion). Former CIA operative Frank Dux (from Blood Sport). And former US Army soldier and master ninja, Joe Armstrong (the American Ninja franchise). They all team up with Colonel Matrix and head out to rescue Jenny from the opium cartels and their army of mercenaries. Some of them survive. Some of them don’t. But Jenny is rescued and a major opium producer is put out of business, permanently.
OK, how the hell could you miss the subplot involving the reporter played by Dickless from "Ghostbusters"?

We don't see the words written on his arm again. However sometimes throughout the film, you see a black smudge on his arm that gradually gets more faded over time.

A classic action Christmas movie.I saw it in the theatre last year for the Die Hard marathon and it was an amazing experience.

I make a point of watching Die Hard on Christmas Eve every year. Part of why the movie is fun is because that was the director's intent. He wanted the movie to be a joyous experience, despite some of its content. Ironically enough, he picked the music Ode to Joy as the main move theme without knowing the name of the tune, and was pleasantly surprised to learn the name.
Also, Theo is the villain in the Die Hard battery commercial.
The best thing in this movie is the fact that McClane was shoeless like 95% of the movie (and as far as I can remember, we dont even get to see his shoes)

My favourite piece of trivia about this movie is that they approached Frank Sinatra to play the main character, because he's played the lead from the novel in a movie 20 years before.
Looking back, it’s funny to see how hard Decker was trying to make this review not be “too long” when it only ended up being 23 minutes.

Did a review over one of my favorite movies! :D Geez, this movie is older than me and I absolutely love it. Made me into a Bruce Willis fan. I honestly liked the sequels. The only one, or ones, that I was iffy about was the 3rd Die Hard (Although I found it very humorous) and the 4th. A Good Day to Die Hard kinda made up for what Live Free or Die Hard missed on. It didn't miss much, I thought, but the entire series is great. But, if I were to pick a favorite, I'd have to agree with you Decker that the original Die Hard is the best.
Eh. I rank 2 as the weakest in the series. 3 was closer to 1 for a good action movie. 4 is better than 5, but both suffer a little from sequilitis. Still, with even 2 being a good movie in my book, it's one of those rare extended series that doesn't have an entry that I don't like. The other being the Tremors movies.

Yes, I should know, too, given that, in the seven years and a half since I moved into my condominium building, there must have been nearly twenty such false alarms - and, of course, thankfully, never one single actual fire, and firefighters do come and check it out every single time, as per normal procedure.

Rasmus Thyrring Yes, but I want to get it on Blu-Ray so it's a nice all-HD review.. but for some reason it doesn't seem to be available on Blu-Ray in the US. (at least on Amazon) I could get an import and rip it just the same, but it does complicate things slightly more than usual.

Decker, i found a book today called 'Alien Sea of Sorrow' and i noticed that the main character is called Decker. I was wondering if this is where you got your TH-cam name or if its just a coincidence? Thanks.
Well this was Bruce Willis’ first action role. Previously he had only been a romantic interest in the series moonlighting and the movie blind date. This is why he wasn’t their first choice as Jon because they saw him as more of a lover boy. The only reason Bruce Willis got the role of John McLain was none of the big action stars wanted the role (they approached literally every big action star of that time and they all said no for one reason or another)

Funny thing is when die hard first came out people thought it was a joke to see Bruce Willis in a action movie (because before die hard he was considered a comedian actor because of the show moonlighting)

I'll say this for Ellis: He didn't tell Hans about Holly if nothing else. Though that may be because he was interested in her.
That punch may have looked unprovoked, but I don't think a jury in the world whould have been anywhere close to convicting her on that evidence. And there likely wasn't a cop there that would have followed orders if told to arrest her.

Frankly, as they do hold court to determine if a RO or PRO legotomately worth granteing, even in 87. A tape of the broadcast, John would have testified, as could other employees, and it would show that Thornberg was clearly out of line, knowing who both he, and she were.

The "fall" wasn't a cliche because it defined the trope. And it looked so good because they told Richtman they would drop him on "three" and then dropped him on "one" instead.

This movie and The Last Boy Scout are probably my favorite Bruce Willis movies.
Funny thing is when the die hard posters came out everyone thought it was a joke that Bruce Willis was in it (at the time he was only known for his comedy on the TV show moonlighting)

Heck, a couple of generations prior to that, a lot of Europeans, mostly German and Polish, had emigrated to the US and settled in the northern Midwest. Many of them were farmers or brewers (sometimes both). That's where a lot of American brewing traditions come from. It's also why the Midwest has some of the best breweries in the world.

+Decker Shado I can't remember the name but a small action movie out of South Africa the only reason why I know it was a Governor was cause the bad guys talked about how they couldn't kill one man with a governor at least twenty times I however don't recommend the movie since 95% of the humor and story is soo South African an outsider won't get it.

I had no idea director John McTiernan adapted the book Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorpe
This fundamentally changed action movies in Hollywood
Given that it's set around Christmas a time for joy and love and giving it's kinda funny
But if you look deeper there’s symbolism and pageantry involved; the core is about family
The movie delivers on action, suspense, thrills, and being immensely violent
There’s even uses of miniature explosions as well as scale models it’s so seamless
McTiernan reinvigorated the genre in the late 1990s, heck it even inspired many copycats just with different settings whether it be planes or boats etc.
There's a great supporting cast from Reginald VelJohnson to Bonnie Bedelia to the late Alan Rickman
Rickman in particular makes for one of the best on-screen villains facing against an ordinary man with no special skills or superpowers
McClane is just someone who's brave and physically capable
Yet we see that he still bleeds willing to risk life and limb to save the day while delivering quips
Heck even the cliches are utilized cleverly
And it doesn't necessarily have to be associated with Christmas despite so many elements being there

In the reporter's defense. There is no way he could have been expected to know that simply interviewing the family of hostage members would place them in any more danger. In fact, since most hostage negotiators advise that trying to humanize oneself to hostage takers to lessen the chance that they will just kill you, making the hostages MORE human by possibly showing the hostage takers that those hostages have family may actually protect them.
Just out of curiosity, are you going to review Jurassic World when it comes out like you did with Prometheus? Or is reviewing new releases reserved strictly for movies in the Alien universe?
Monster Movie Maniac I'd like to, but it is harder for me to do that where I live now than I was able to back in Houston. I did enjoy my "reaction" videos, which I did for Paranormal Activity 4, and more recently Godzilla 2014, so it doesn't have to be something in the Alien franchise. I could see if there's a taxi service that might come out here and get me to the "local" theater... Would be pricey, but dangit I want to do reaction videos again!

Not to be too nit picky( okay. I am being so) McClane was never gong to stay in a "hotel". He had planned to stay with a former NYPD officer friend in Pomona. Argyle was waiting to drive him there if he didn't end up staying with Holly.
unprovoked? the news caster dox'ed John Mc.Clane and his family, forced his way into the family home and broadcasted their children on live television, giving away not only their identities and the identeties of the mother and father but also putting the then unknown mother in EVER MORE DANGER all so he could get the scoop of a lifetime....

I always thought that Hans' plan to get the FBI to cut the power to get the electronic locks to fail is stupid. Any lock that is electronically opened and locked will always stay locked if there is a power cut. What would be the point of a security feature that can be circumvented so easily.

My favorite movie and I can give you almost all the dialogue.
Some of your information is a bit incorrect. The book is technically a sequel to Frank Sinatra’s film The detective. Legally the studio had to approach Sinatra about playing the leading role. I Sinatra at that point was not interested in acting anymore and was well into his 70s he turn down the production. After that happened they had a little bit more freedom to change some things from the book to make it more original.

One thing I have always been confused by: After throwing the body out the window, why did John feel it necessary to shoot up Powell's car? Wasn't he at all worried about being mistaken for a terrorist? Or worse - KILLING Powell inadvertently? The body on the hood was obviously enough to get his attention. Wasn't it?
Ah well. Still one of my favorite Christmas movies.
John didn't shoot his car the TERRORISTS did goofy because they knew he was going to start blabbing too soon.
Yeah. That wasn't John shooting at Powell. It was the terrorists, who were indeed trying to Kill him.
After all of these years I never saw that mistake until now.
There were westerns in the 80s, not many but a few. Some of them may be good review material.
Hey Decker, have you ever heard of the Darksiders franchise it is awesome, in the game you play as two of the coolest and meanest guys ever War and Death.
Chris Jimenez I've got Darksiders on Steam, and I was planning to pick up Darksiders 2 on Wii U. Haven't gotten around to doing that yet.. but at least when I do finally get the chance, it looks like I'll only be spending maybe 10 bucks. I want the Wii U version specifically for the second screen's inventory management.. The accepted narrative is that feature helps a lot.
