The ironic thing is that the publisher probably spent more money suing Internet Archive than they will make from taking the books out of the platform. People go there because you can't find the book or you can't buy it in first place.
The idea of some random fisherman catching Sauron and keeping him in a fishtank, where he just blubs menacingly over the course of a full fantasy epic attempting to enact evil fishy plans, makes me very happy. Also, glad to see Blue. OSP rocks, and crossover vids like this are always fun. Nice back-and-forth conversation.
Daniel potentially dethroning his own Kickstarter record with his OWN Fantasy News will go down in TH-cam legend one day. Stories will be written. Lore crafted. Probably by Blue. ... *Bryce realizes that's not a bad idea and runs off to call Daniel and Blue*
Gimme more Fantasy News collabs like this! I don't mind these longer episodes, I think the discussion around the Internet Archive for example really added a lot to the topic. I don't say go full podcast because I don't have that much time and I can't keep my attention when it's not professionally edited, but a bit of back and forth on the more complex topics really adds a lot to the video.
What are you talking about Daniel? Animated Lord of the Rings is not a "new foray", there have been at least three animated middle earth movies already (as well as a fourth that was only released once to keep the rights)
I'm Dutch. We used to have that copyright arrangement that Daniel mentioned. Our interpretation of copyright law used to be that copying (downloading from pirates) of copyrighted content was legal, with copyright tax on media carriers paying the publishers. Sharing/uploading without permission was still illegal. The EU demanded we made both uploading and downloading illegal, so we don't have that arrangement anymore.
that was incredible. Loved the co hosted style and as a long time fan of OSP and DG it was wonderful to see these fine folks work together. what a blast
Idk if it was mentioned in one of the previous Fantasy News, but the director of the new LoTR anime is Kenji Kamiyama, who directed Ghost in the Shell Stand alone Complex So it's sounding promising
My colliding thoughts while reading the title: 'Sauron is a fish now', what the heck--hey's it's Blue! 😄🤣Awesomeness! You guys have such fun banter and I hope we get to see more future crossovers!
I am so pumped to see two of my favorite lads in the nerd literary space in one video! Best of luck on the Veneziad, Blue! You had me at "Mediebal Vembis"
That Thrones article is already a bit out of date - GRRM announced that 10,000 Ships was alive again and making progress with a new writer the day after that article came out.
Yoo the Veneziad looks great! Doppio Spritz a colazione domani Also just seen that it is in modern italian and not in full medieval venetian, and while a bit saddened I appreciate the creative decision to preserve the sanity of everyone involved
I always wish Zack Snyder had met someone early on his career who he could've vibed with enough to be talked into being co-director on projects cos i feel there's always so many bits for potential and material that could be amazing......if someone were to just reign it in where it needs to be and tell him what he needs to change about it to make it work better. Maybe a hot take to compare em (for some) but a bit like how George Lucas' og take on Star Wars was saved by the editors knowing where to trim the fat etc.
I was especially impressed by the mangaka's character writing, i dont know if it was her intent but so many of her characters are very neurodivergent! In addition I really enjoyed the chill vibes that escalate into a dramatic epic. Very good book
@luthientinuviel3883 Now that you've said that, neurodivergent. The whole character aspect of the series shifted. Falin suddenly makes sense. I thought Laios behavior cultural.
@@Kikilang60 yeah Laios definitely reads as autistic in his own culture, he struggles to relate to others outside of his special interest (monsters) which i relate to a lot 😁
Thanks for the video, y'all! It was cool to see you with a co-host! LMAO @ Snyder doing silent film. Yay for Delicious in Dungeon S2! Such a weird, fun show. :)
Zhang Yimou is a great director. "Raise The Red Lantern", "Hero", "House Of The Flying Daggers" and more are all great movies so this actually gets me excited of what may come from this.
There are animated versions of LOTR material....the animated The Hobbit and The Return of the King plus the Ralph Bakshi The Lord of the Rings (Fellowship of the Ring, plus book 3 from The Two Towers and the beginning of Book 4 from The Two Tower)...
This episode started, you introduced the co-host by saying "If you like history content or just nerdy stuff." INSTANT SUBSCRIPTION from this history nerd.
Both of you boys PLEASE watch Primal!! It is one of the most intelligent, heartfelt, and beautiful animations to come out of the West. Absolutely a Masterpiece.
On the Thousand Ships Show, the day after the article about the status on the GoT spin-offs was posted GRRM posted a blog where he congratulates a person named Eboni Booth for winning the Pulitzer Prize. In that post GRRM says "[Eboni Booth] has been kept busy by me and HBO, working on a new pilot for TEN THOUSAND SHIPS, a GAME OF THRONES spinoff about Nymeria and the Rhoynar." so it looks like it was unsheleved and put back into development (which is the stage before pre-production where the studio hasn't decided to actually make the show/movie yet).
Just got my copy of “Neon Ghosts: A Witch’s Sin” in the mail. Super hyped to read it. It’ll be my first step into the sci-fi/cyberpunk genre of books. Been reading solely fantasy forever. Thanks Daniel!
you got it wrong... Pre-production for the Knight of 7 kingdoms means it's in a further stage than the "in development" projects... this one is the only one besides HoD that is actually moving forward right now (has at least some casting done etc, preparing for actual shooting). the in development ones are mostly in talking stages
