These are my "go to" Rules for the SYW and a friend I introduced them to, enjoys them also. The Rules are very flexible as regards figure scale whether you have an existing collection or decide to do your own thing. All you have to do is measure the width of what you want your 'standard' unit to be and compare this with the 'Maximum Long Muskets Only Range' in each of the various figure scale playsheets. When you find a match (or near enough), then that playsheet is the one to use. For example, my collection consists of Pendraken 10mm figures, so you would think that I would normally use the 10mm scale playsheet provided in the Rules. However, my infantry units, consisting of 32 figures in 2 lines, are 10 cm (4 inches) wide - the width you would normally use for 15mm figures - so I use the 15mm playsheet instead.

These are without doubt, in my opinion, the best rules for a battalion style SYW game. My friends and I have been using them, with a few of our own variations since 2016. They give a very good and easy to follow method to represent the well organised linear warfare of this period. Everyone picks them up by about Move Three and you can't often say that! We've done games large and small matched to size of table and number of players from 300 to 3000. Highly recommended.

I have a set of these rules, I like the game, not too over complicated with things to slow down play. I like the national differences that give it some historical flavor, I am currently building up two armies of 10mm imaginations forces (from old glory miniatures). If you don't have miniatures made yet for test playing, i recommend using kriegsspiel style blocks. Everything will be scaled down with the kriegspiel footprint , but for test play, it will give you a great idea of how the game works. And you won't need to wait months or years to paint up two good-sized factions. You can pick up a kriegsspiel map or print or even make it if you are crafty enough. Thanks for the video. There's really not much on youtube about the honors of war rules set.

Fab set of rules. We've been playing a dozen battles per year in 15mm for several years. If you like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing you'll like. :-) A game of perhaps 20 units per side is very doable in three hours. Incredibly good fun if you randomly roll on the Command table getting commanders of varying quality in conjunction with the National Differences. We've had good fun with half a dozen units and a big game with almost 40 units per side, finished in under 5 hours. Highly recommend them.

War bear does historical 3D printing, and I’ve got a bunch of his 7YW stuff. I was wondering what rule set to use, I’ll start here

It’s definitely one of the better blue books out there. I haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but it does have some things I’d like to borrow for other rules.

So did this rule set strictly cover fighting only in Europe? After all This was the true first world war. Fighting was different here between Britain and France here in North America vs Europe. I need need a historical book with info for this whole. Just got really truly interesting

    • @Corvinuswargaming1444

@@charleslatora5750 yeah its strictly for the European theaters of the war, it says its not designed for the fighting in North America and India. Pretty Sure Osprey does have a blue book that covers the French and Indian War at least
