      I'm not overly confident but its worth trying one component at a time, plus its a good excuse to show people how to change these things if they go wrong, in this case the regulators can start leaking fuel but not often!

    Something that's going on with my focus. Can't wait to see what's the problem is.

    I've a Fiesta Zetec about the same vintage; and yes, it's quite easy to work on, too. But nowhere near as easy as me old Capri :-)

      Ah that's a different time when the DIY thos wazs very strong a lot on cars back then :)

    Ptfe tape is better than silicone. 👍😉

    Interesting. Look forward to injector job, though I hope this fixes your prob. Are your rear window tints DIY?

      There's no tinting on my Focus, there just very clean - it works just as good with a dark leather interior!

    If that is the Fuel Pressure Regulator, then what is that fitting at the firewall with a hose on each end and the round chrome diagram in the middle that fits on the end of the fuel line where it comes out at the firewall ? I thought that it was the fuel pressure regulator and what you replaced may be the fuel pressure switch ?

    • @usuallyfixingtinkering
      @usuallyfixingtinkering  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no fuel pressure switch on a MK1. Only the regulator that I have changed in this video. The item you refer to is a very rudimentary fuel pressure valve, I am unsure of why it was fitted to the early MK1's up to 2001 as it was deleted for a single fuel hose going into the rail with no negative consequences.

    This might be nitpicking, but have you ever thought about introducing yourself at the start of your videos? I've been following you for a while now, but I still haven't caught your name somewhere.
    Otherwise, keep doing what you're doing 👍

    My car needs one or two seconds more to start up when the engine is hot rather than when it is cold.
    With a cold engine starts up immediately.
    Did you have any symptom like this?

      That could be a number of things which would be hard to pinpoint without any other tell-tale signs.

      No but I strongly think its the cat! I've been told this a few times with cheap aftermarket ones! It has a lot to do with the fuel Trims.

      The fuel trim is reading on the rich side in my car when using my scanner. I'd going through a few possible culprits to see if any make that difference!

      I watched that yesterday and was thinking that but truth is its a lean code not rich. Evap solenoid may be an option as I have a spare. We'll see how it goes!
