    I posted this on another video with this same meter:
    I have used that exact same moisture meter and have found the moisture reading is not fluid or reads in real time.
    Once you add water you have to take the meter out of the soil and insert it again to get a proper reading.
    I have this meter inserted in my vegetable garden and hosed it down for 5 minutes with tons of water, the meter dial did not change.
    Once I pulled it out and re-insterted it did the dial go way up

      it should not change, the calibration of this meter works like this. it measure once it will not keep measuring. once it finds the accurate reading it will hold that reading and to measure again you need to reset the meter by taking it out and put it back in

    I just purchased this meter. It is sold under several name, but they all look the same.
    I did notice my light level indicator is not directly behind the hole of the meter.
    I believe I am going to take it back and see if I can find one that is lined up better.

    TQ for the shared review, Prince George. Appreciated yr research as review undertaken and it convinced me to steer away from my initial plan in ordering another that looks nice, robust but was much shorter in length that would not go deep enough even to assess an average readout / result. This gauge with a longer twin-probe and a light sensor suits my needs perfectly and cheaper as well.... Shaloha.... :)

    It just told you to but the "tips at ROOT LEVEL", why would you bury the tip? Should only be placed nothing more than 2" maybe 3" down max. Levels are always different at the lowest point of the soil below surface.

    i had one exactly like that. I think its not precise the level of PH. Put it deepest display difference from put it in middle. But i try the base of țhe soil within a small Container. Its not same displayed on the same soil.

      You should not leave the probe in soil for more than a hour or you will ruin it. But for this meter, it doesn't matter because this meter is crap! I returned mine because it was not calibrated properly and the readings were way off. As you can see in this video, when he out his finger over the sensor, it did not fall all the way to the left. How could it possibly read some light? Also, the soil ph was so low on the second test, nothing would ever survive in it. When you buy cheap equipment, you have garbage results.

    It seems one needs wet soil for this. Wait after some rain has been or similar.
    Also, as guy in video said, it is important to put the complete probes deeply into ground.

    How to order your ph meter?

  • @pachma405
    @pachma405 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The problem with these is that the PH meter doesn't work. It always displays 7.5, (even if you stand it in a glass of vinegar).

    • @tbranch74
      @tbranch74 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      pachma hi! I ran into the same problem. So I complained they company sent me a replacement. Didnt work again. But they sent me a 3rd- I didnt even get back to them if the replacement worked.
      So now I have 3 meters.
      But....I saw a video, you're suppose to mix the soil with distilled water, and probe several different areas where you are testing. Wait a bit for it to adjust, after probing.
      Write down all 4 readings you get, then figure out the mean average, I think. Or the medium number.
      That's the soil ph level supposedly.
      I'm about to try it right now, with the 2 meters they sent me.lol.
      They are begging me to let them know...but I haven't done this last explanation to see if I actually get results.
      I'll let you know.
      Its super frustrating bc I needed it specifically for the ph...not moisture, not light.

    • @pachma405
      @pachma405 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tara, did you come to the same conclusion? That it's a waste of money?
      I think most people buy it for the PH meter, so it's useless.
      Who water's their plants with distilled water?

    • @tbranch74
      @tbranch74 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@pachma405 so, I contacted the company and they sent me 2 replacements on accident. The same thing happened...except for 1 time,when the meter jumped to acidic, then I realized, the probe tip was hitting a rock in the soil.
      I conducted the readings using distilled water( I understand why distilled is the better option, of rain water isn't available. Tap water has too many minerals which can throw the readings off).
      Side note* some plants require distilled water. But usually certain house plants. Again, minerals in tap water can harm some plants. Carnivore plants, orchids, and others.
      All in all, I say dont buy this product if you are wanting a solid pH meter. Either use the capsules test kits, or contact your local extension office for a soil tester.

    • @pachma405
      @pachma405 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    1. Why do you need a meter to test for the light of the day?
    2. If you were in complete darkness would you know it or would you use the meter?
    3. wait a minute... you would need a flashlight to read the meter, so I would imagine you would not get an accurate reading.
    Q: Why would you test for light ?
