I have used that exact same moisture meter and have found the moisture reading is not fluid or reads in real time.
Once you add water you have to take the meter out of the soil and insert it again to get a proper reading.

    • @martyspence8590
      @martyspence8590 ปีที่แล้ว +2

You are suppose to remove meter before you water your plant. Don’t leave meter in soil. You are supposed to insert prongs halfway down in soil and leave for 10 minutes so it can register the moistness. Then if it reads 3(dry) then remove meter and water your plant. Then don’t use meter again for a week. You want the soil to be able to dry out before using it again.

I have this same meter and it works perfectly. You are supposed to take a piece of fine sandpaper when the tester is new and run it down the metal tubes to create lines and grooves. Like you would for a knife edge straightener. That makes the device more sensitive and then the ph reads accurately.

Gotta wait 2-3 mins to get moisture reading and 10 mins for ph, avoid using up to 15 mins as the reading goes off.

I have this meter, and the pH meter does work. You can 'prove' this by adding a little vinegar to the water -- but only do this if you have a plant that likes acidic soil! He must've used the same potting soil for both of those plants, and also must have alkaline soil outdoors. Not uncommon at all!

Aim the senor up an move it up and down the meter will move . Example take that meter walk up to a standard house light bulb and get right up on it ,it will hit the peak 2000 or so then slow pull it away an watch it drop ( house bulb will drop fast being it doesn't have power to move the parrs far away from bulb) then take it an example 😅 put under your grow light an see how far your parr is reaching down to the plants . At the grow light it will peak its Parr an down at the plant it will show what Parr is reaching the plant say ( 2000k at the light an drop the light until u get 500 Parr) another example walk out side tilt senor toward the sky and it will peak out period being the sun's light /Parr reaches the soil level . It only reads to a max of whatever is on your meter (mines 2000) and will drop to 0 if no light is placed on the senor. All lights have different strengths

For the pH meter to work the soil has to be moist to create an electric current connection for it. Then you have to leave it sitting in the soil for about 10 minutes and then check the pH meter

I have yet to find one that works properly, the moisture works some what, the PH, never moves, I could flood soil with vinegar then test it & nothing, as the 7 to 8 setting where it rests is the no voltage position, what is supposed to happen is the tip being one metal & the rod being another creates a voltage depending on the PH, & the meter is supposed to read the voltage.
with these two probe type , one is for PH the other is moisture
I checked the wiring & everything checks out good with a multi meter, there is nothing fancy inside, just a switch & a photo cell for the light sensor & a resistor for the photo cell I think.
the problem as I see it is the China Man cheap out & substitute either the alloy of the rods or the meter as it is a tuned circuit dependent on exact parameters, if you substitute one thing for something with a different value they will not work right.
I had one of these back in the 1980's made in USA & it worked perfectly where even this one the light meter is not close to accurate & having it on the front makes it pretty much useless for checking overhead light in a greenhouse or grow tent & if measuring LED lighting it is not even close, so they may be OK for a basic house plant to see if enough light is coming in a window but it will be nothing close to an accurate measurement, I don't know if the digital version works any better but I think I will try one over this junk, as currently I will flood my plant until it comes out the bottom & measure the PH with my PH DR Meter PH tester for testing liquids, but it would be nice to have something to stick in the garden from time to time to check.

But I don’t think the ph works.
(Why I’m here) I try it in soil and also my sink and in my cooled boiled water. Reads about 6.5-7.
I did buy it for the ph meter but the moisture content meter/reader is very handy when knowing when to water. 👍
    Tough crowd guy.

Ok. First of all I'm only 1 min and 26 seconds in... And you need to stick the tip of those prongs down more, idealy to where there would be the most roots.. and when checking for moisture you want to put it all the way to the bottom to see how much is really left in the pot or bucket or whatever your plant is in... Literally just read the instruction that are on the package when you purchased it and it will explain how to use it...

    • @anthonyruffo3057

But you have to let it sit for a little bit and you will notice it move eventually... It's not magic you have to give it time and use it correctly for it to work..
And for me a person who knows how to use it correctly would deff recommend this product... Fyi..

I think it's because most normal soil is quite alkaline. I was having the same issue testing this and found a way to get some movement from it. Try saturating a small paper cup of soil with white rice vinegar (4.0-4.5 Ph), mixing it in well, and then measuring it. I did this and got a reading of about 4.1-4.2.

As for light, do people really need a Fucking meter to let them that there is 1, 2, or however many hours of light are in a particular part of your yard??? Really?? People need a meter to tell them this???? As for Ph, a serious gardener gets a soil test kit and gets true soil análisis! Not a cheap fucking $20 gadget.
