- The AK, Deagle, and AWP are the three most iconic guns in CSGO. Their popularity practically transcends the game itself.
But those who actually play the game know there is another gun deserving of just as much hype-the USP.
But the USP isn't the only choice for those on CT. In fact, when the game first came out the only option was its sibling, the P2000.
And it has always been a deadly handgun in its own right.
So should you, you at home, really be using the USP? Is the P2000 secretly better? Should you make the switch?

I play cs quite aggressively, and for me the p2000 fits my play style. Mentally the usp sound makes me feel like I need to be more passive and careful

Yes this is a great point; I play in the same style and I use p2000 also; something about the usp slows you down in my opinion.

been using the p2000 for quite a while now, started using it before it was talked about again. All my friends laughed at me. Now that the p2000 is increasingly being used again, they still laugh at me.

the sound gravitation thing is so true. i loved the old sound of the p2000 because it sounded like a shotgun lowkey and i just felt “stronger”. i still use p2000 today because for me it’s the gun model.. the smaller the easier it feels for me to aim
The size of the USP makes me feel more powerful. p2000 feels like the Glock as well.. I hate the Glock. USP feels long too which makes it also feel like it's more accurate. I guess like a mini silent sniper. Not sure exactly though, but USP just feels way better and I hate the Glock feel of the p2000 as well as it's shooting sound being kinda meh. USP feels like James Bond? or something and getting 3k+ kills with it is so satisfying.
A 1 tap ace with USP is like ASMR a 1 tap p2000 is still cool but no where near as satisfying.

I think if the P2k had 15 in the mag and 60 reserves it would get picked up more. I understand that it seems excessive but it's like the difference between the M4A1s and the M4A1A ammo count.

The subjective aspect is very true. Friend switched to p2000 and immediately started getting more pistol kills. But it's the opposite way for me.
Decade ago, there was this online game without any checksum to detect default skins or sounds, so us players started switching shit around to the fancy pay2win skins--even if the guns were still the plebian ones underneath.
Switched an M24 to a Cheytac and an AWP to a Barrett M82, along with their much cooler sounds. I instantly and consistently performed better across dozens of hours.
Similar story between regular crosshairs and dot crosshairs (I'm noticeably more likely to get one-taps with a dot but hold a spray better with the cross due to better illustration of the sideways recoil). The way you think about aiming can literally be changed that easily by planting this subliminal thought in your mind of the crosshair shape.
It's a bit to do with the confidence of holding a fight due to expectations about the odds of winning it. Doesn't work for everyone, but sometimes all we need to be more accurate is to believe we are.

In CS you could make your deagle into a revolver or 1911 or see through or whatever, all player side only, by replacing files in your steam folders
@@dozi3r You still can for every game apart from GO. Used to spend hours on Gamebanana browsing and installing all manner of custom skins, models, animations and sounds, for weapons, players models and the bomb, not to mention custom maps (with no one to play them with).
In Wolfenstein Enemy Territory's early tests, the game used it's parent title's sound effects for both sides SMGs, the Thompson for the Allies and the MP40 for the axis. But people would consistently do better with the Thompson because the Thompson sounded far punchier than the MP40 and people thought it had better stats because of the sound, despite both guns performing identically.
In order to nerf the Thompson, the developers gave the Thompson a far more subdued weaker sound.

I think the silencer is pretty significant when you're starting fights at range against an enemy that hasn't seen you yet (mainly if you miss the first shot). On the receiving end, it's much easier to instantly whip towards the sound of the p2k than the USP. This tiny amount of time advantage can make a huge difference.
You forgot to mention the 1st shot running accuracy. The usp-s is more forgiving for those who mess up their counter strafing
That's the whole reason I use the usp. If you can line up your shots while strafing it's insane.

Your missing the most important reason of why the usp is used more often. The skins are better looking.
This is so true, p2k have only few skin less than usp-s but those p2k skins are no way near as good than usp skins. Best p2k skin wouldnt be even top10 skin on usp.
Having a quieter firearm also allows you to hear more of what's going on around you, and as many players will tell you, gunfire has a tendency to drown out many other sounds, like the all-important footstep, and I often find myself taking advantage of periods of loud automatic gunfire with bursts of quick but undetectable movement. Using both silenced weapons as a CT almost ensures you'll never drown out other very important sounds, where using an AK at full auto puts you into a short period of basic deafness.

Both are worth trying but really it’s down to whichever you are better with or which feels better. But one thing we can all agree on, the usp has the better skins

Quite the contrary, p2k has far cheaper skins since it is less sought after, so I use it haha
this might change after cs2 release, the p2000 looks so much better now

I've always used the p2k due to a major bullet loss when scanning smokes, prefireing or trying to tap through very thin walls, I always go for it. Honestly think it should be used more by lower ranks in general, amo rly makes a big difference there.
the way u said "blindly following the pros" is so true at this time i was a 4:3 1280:960 user for all my hrs in cs go but just recently i tested the 16:9 1920:1080 cuz i noticed in tf2 that if i chnage my native ratio and resolution to 4:3 my sens became much faster and i always wondered why i had better aim in tf2 than cs go and i tested 16:9 and did like 3x better in it u should really just go with what u like u dont need to be on the meta everytime or use the exact settings and config of some pro unless ur sure it benefits u like i putted ropz config since hes the only 16:9 pro i know and i even changed some settings that fit me better like binds and stuff just go what u want dont try to use pro stuff to become pro every pro in cs go are even in a small way different like in skill or aim or utility or mentality

I used 4 3 a lot cuz i had shitty pc, now i have 3060 and good cpu, so i can use 1920 1080 w/ no lags
4:3 stretched is fat heads and Ferrari peeks. The models literally go across the screen faster but they are fatter. Sens is also sped up for the same reason. I run 0.55 sens on 4:3 and 0.6 on 16:10 (4:3 is 16:12) which is a middle ground.
16:10 has 6 degrees less FOV than 16:9 but 4:3 has 10 degrees less FOV than 16:10
@@JackoTJK Aspect ratio and resolution do NOT change your sensitivity in source based games. You're right about visual model lateral speed and size though

Quite an expected video but totally welcome. Imo, it is indeed a matter of playstyle and most people in ct side being mostly passive , majority of playerbase prefers usp, plus yeah the crisp headshot sound is insanely satisfying. In the 5 years that I've played CSGO, I started with & have kept using the p2000. I switched to usp-s sometimes just for experimentation and had many good games with it as well, but for some reason I have always returned to the p2000.
In my opinion, USP's quiet sound psychologically makes you play more passive as CT on pistol round, which is good. So the average player will notice the statistical benefit of USP, making it the best option
Pistols are weak. I save up for the M249.
Any time Wolfenstein: ET gets mentioned - my heart does a happy little leap. Best shooter I've ever experienced. Still have it in my games folder.
Ive been using the p2k more since 2020, and i notice that i get more headshots with it than the usp, its probably just me but i just prefer the p2k, simple as that. I tried to like the usp, but its not liking me back

Usp I would say is more applicable in more situations as on ct side your gonna be holding angles and site lines but if your gonna go more aggressive the p2000 is your choice

I feel like on close range if you're getting rushed with multiple enemies, it feels more accurate to spam with the p2k. It almost feels like a budget p250. If you spam with the USP close range it feels like you're just going to get overrun easier
The original reason I swapped back in the day was because I got tired of always having to buy a p250 while awping when the p2000 is almost as good at spamming close range
I think you missed an important aspect of the sound and design aspect. It is not that you "play/perform better" with a "better" sound. It is that you adopt a different mentality and play differently. All the aspects of the USP from its sound to its lack of tracers and its reputation and even its lower ammo pushes people into taking their time and aiming for the head. You are subconsciously being herded into a very powerful playstyle without even realizing it. There is no reason why the p2000 would not work as well in the same situations but it would take you yourself having to mentally put yourself in the state of mind. It requires a level of personal control most people might not be able to accomplish but more importantly, they might not be aware of this in the first place to try.
If you put your mind to it then you should be able to achieve the same playstyle as the USP but while using the p2000 as well as benefiting from the extra bullets.
Practically both are same , even usp is more spammable, but suppressor is more forgiving when you miss shots from behind

I was a P2K user for a long time (2.5k kills and barely did a DM with it) but the silencer just gives the enemy that bit of extra uncertainty of where you're playing from and it's not very often you get caught out ammo wise if you're hitting your shots
Getting into CS2 I switched to P2K been enjoying it! I like the extra ammo and I don’t feel like I need to be as tactical. Also nice to look at new skins for once
I am the guy who always favored P2000 and M4A4. I only switched to A1S when it was clearly way better than A4 but now I'm back to A4. As you said, I've never noticed any major difference between P2000 and USP-S but whenever I picked a USP-S, it did _feel_ a bit nicer 😁

Just goes to show you that sound design can be hilariously one of the most important things in a video game. Ever since the "sound fidelity" update, I couldn't hit a bloody damn thing with anything for what felt like months save for the scout because let's be honest, the old scout was not just loud but very sharp. I wish we had a way to restore the old sounds ourselves though, would be nice.

That suppressor can actually really come in clutch. It's much easier to locate an enemy that you can't see if you can hear them clearly. It's why footsteps, unpinning a grenade and even scoping can so often get you in trouble - it's giving free information. The suppressor won't make you a ninja automatically, but if you play to it's strengths, have the aim and discipline to hit your shots and not hold off shooting when you don't need to, it really shines. At longer ranges, if the enemy doesn't see you first then the only clue they'll have that you're there is the sounds of bullets whizzing past and hitting a wall or entering their bodies. At closer ranges sure you can hear it, but it's not always exactly clear where it's coming from unless you're basically face to face anyway. It's not a huge difference and won't automatically make you invisible, but in certain situations it can be very useful and other times it's just a nice extra for someone who knows how to play around it.

I switched over the other day to the P2K. I started hitting my headshots much more. It feels more accurate. I won't argue with playing a bit better 😅 But, I've also felt the reg on Comp servers has been horrible lately. Also, can we bring back the CS: Source m4a1 silencer sound? It was way better haha
For me it's a more nostalgia factor for the usp because of 1.6 and CSS

Much like how the M4A1-S is an older, but upgraded gun with its suppressor, the USP-S is the older gun with suppressor as well. The P2000 incorporated lessons learned from the USP and more.
I think the noise difference make us have the feeling of difference in the accuracy as if one was more shaky than the other

Approaching 3000 kills on my p2000, I can honestly say that the complete lack of worry about ammo consumption has allowed me to throw off players by doing stuff like spamming full clips into smoke or spamming an angle to delay a push so my team can get to me. The clip where the pros ran out of ammo was interesting to me because spamming smoke there was good idea, but you can see some hesitation due to ammo.
As someone who needs to work on their sprays compared to my tap and burst firing, I have seen the p2000 not only really throw people off because they don’t expect the spam but you will always be able to out spam a Glock; however you can also tap or bust just as effectively as the usp. To some degree I think that’s the one thing missing from this video: comparing usp vs Glock and p2000 versus Glock. I honestly think low level players should start with the p2000 and potentially adjust to play style, just like starting with the chunk4 before considering the a1s if you are a sneakier player. It’s not that the p2000 is a particularly forgiving gun, it’s that the usp is a particularly unforgiving gun.

The accuracy and lack of tracers is WAY more valuable and will save me a lot more than the extra bullet. And rarely ever will you use up 36 USP shots before dying anyways.
I've always used the P2000 because I tend to spam with it alot, play relatively aggressively, and don't really care if I get headshots or not. The extra ammo is definitely worth it in my opinion.
The reason for the switch to only usp (pro and high elo) is u can shot smoke without tracers and u can hear more around u when fireing making it the best choice for most if not all players

The benefits of the silencer are a bit understated here. First, if you're not in line of sight, your shots do not appear on the mini map. Secondly, they are harder to hear and don't give tracers. These three things are all situational, but combined in the right cases mean that you can catch enemies off-guard far more easily with a silenced weapon than a non-silenced one. It's a similar story with the M4s. They, in fact, DO have different playstyles, even if ever so slightly. The 2k is more glock-like, the USP emphasizes being sneaky. And for CTs, being sneaky is an actual tactical advantage - Ts are either storming your position, trying to find where you are firing from, making it ever so slightly harder to get spotted means you gets a few extra moments before they can react.
I've found that the ability to see the tracers with the P2K helps me a lot with being able to use it effectively
I myself switched lately from USP-S to p2k and i am positively suprised. Since I did that I am feeling like I am playing a lot better in pistol rounds and any full eco rounds too. I recommend everyone trying p2k. Maybe It will suit you better.

I personally think they're both completely equally viable. One is not better than the other. The one and only reason I use the USP-S is that it feels more satisfying. USP headshots just are more fun.
Personally, i made the switch between m4 and m4a1-s(back when they were about even) because of a singular play, decided to try out the other side, proceeded to get 8 dinks in a row from tapping in a single round, never looked back since

I think it's playstyle and role. I love the p2k. Evey usps kill I ever got was like ooooo I got em, but I'm an aggressive entry fragger. Draw the attention and let my team clean them up.

I fell in love with the P2K when my mouse died mid-round, I plugged it in, while my team were dying, and then came along and got an ace.
I never get aces, let alone pistol round aces.
Could be the longer barrel as well, when you are staring at the crosshair you notice how the barrel rises easier
I play with both, depending on how I'm feeling. Like Dredgno said, the USP makes me play more passive and careful. As long as I'm hitting my headshots, that's fine. However, if I'm playing really good with an aggressive style that day, then the P2000 really does the job. I'm pretty sure I have way more ace's with the P2000 than with the UPS.

I use the USP because my loadout is a legacy of old CS. Along with MP5 and M4A1.
I was told not long after the arms deals update to use the USPS by a friend because it is "better". so I started using it and started performing better in the pistol rounds. I have tried going over to the p2000 multiple times but I have never gotten comfortable with it.
so I am sure that the guy who knows what he's talking about is correct for me. it is the sound that makes the gun feel quite a lot better than the p2000.
as for the A1s vs A4 have I gone back and fourth. I currently prefer the A1s slightly but I wouldn't have aproblem swapping over to the A4.

could also be that the usp ammo capacity kinda forces you to tap instead of spray vs the p2000
I remember my first comp CSGO match, my team looked at my p2k and said "What is that shit" and vote kicked me.

I remember when I started playing CS GO, I noticed that everyone else on my CT team have a different gun than me...
I tried to find after on how to change myself, couldn't figure ot out... Then I literally had to ask random people on the server about how to switch to that gun, then I changed the gun out of FOMO and never went back to P2K

The length of the suppressor helps me aim. Its more of a leading line to the crosshair
The glock gives me the psychological effect of feeling trapped and scared with only a meager pea shooter to defend myself
I alternate between P2K and USP depending on what roles I feel like playing. If I'm rushing/flanking, I can use the P2K to spam down lane/chokes and cause a distraction for USP runners to take point/kills. If I'm playing cautious, USP-S will not reveal enough information to tell my exact location and forces me to slow down my shots

10:53 YES FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT. I swear to god sound plays such a big role in how the human brain thinks about a weapon’s effectiveness. The USP just sounds better than the P2K, meaning it feels better even if on paper the 2 guns are nearly identical. Same how people call the Prime Vandal the “aimbot skin” as the sound makes the Vandal feel like it’s perma dead accurate. If you enjoy a gun’s sound, you play better with it because you enjoy using it more.
Yeah, even back in CS 1.6 days I was into gun modding to change the viewpoint and sound. The impact of both truly affects your psychological perceive of the gun.
I remember that I changed AK sound to something horrible and changed Famas sound to something better. I can shoot with Famas very consistently but awful with AK.
Valve changed some of the gun sound in CS2, and some people already told that AK and Glock sound better or worse because Valve uses new audio engine for CS2.
Turns out, to buff a gun, you can just change its sound if the gun feels awful to play. If that failed, then you can go change its stats.
i think it’s based on preference and playstyle, if you aim for the head, i recommend both, if you aren’t that good at headshots then you should use both, both are equal.
I only ever hit chest shot bc I’m blind asf and can’t manage to hit the head. I’ve always used the USP but I’ve always had the issue running out of ammo in a 1on1 fight. I’m switching to the P2000

It doesn't happen every pistol round but it happens fairly frequently for me that I run out of bullets in a USP. I switched to p2k not too long ago and it hasn't happened yet. I like the p2k more.
I prefer having less ammo with the USP because I still hardly ever run out of ammo, but if I die, less oneshot ammo makes its way to the Ts
I really think the reason the p2000 seems so good on paper is that its upside is directly and factually quantifiable, whereas the USP-S's upside is not. It's impossible to know if you landed or missed a headshot for no reason other than what gun you're using, but it certainly does happen.

It's a bit of a culture thing; there is no rhyme or reason for the USP to be THE pistol of CT when the difference to the P2K is marginal at best. It's kind of like Daniel and The Cooler Daniel.
It's been p2000 has be my main CT pistol since 2019 love it and always will
I've been a p2k user for YEARS. I used to use the usp but I just love the extra ammo of the p2k too much.
