I've only recently decided to give the keyboard-only style a try and I'm having a blast, even after nearly two decades of playing Doom Very happy to discover your channel and YEARS keyboard-only playthroughs, that's amazing! Thanks, and looking forward for more!
Glad to hear! Keyboard only is definitely way harder (needlessly so) but it does have it's own charm. It's interesting to hear it feels like a fresh way to play Doom after a long time. Most people just get frustrated, although that's very understandable lol.
@@BeefGeeTV it's also very portable and has a unique flow to it. If I play on my laptop, for example, I can either play it on the integrated keyboard or hook up a mechanical one or use the wireless bluetooth one to play from my couch - and that's just infinitely more options than a mouse, for example, because you don't need to move the keyboard around to aim, so once you can put the thing down and use it comfortably, you're all set. I changed the bindings somewhat a lot, though. Some comment suggested using different hands for movement and aim, akin to what you're doing, but I somehow never thought about that before. Right now I have all my fingers on the default QWERTY home row, which works surprisingly well because I don't need to think of the keys to press at all - my pinkies and thumbs handle most stuff outside the movement and shooting and it's the key position relative to home row that matters, not some mental mapping you typically see (like I for Inventory or T to talk, etc.). Definitely putting some of the more impressive WADs on my list to beat later thanks to your vids. I had played many of them before, beat some, but I'm eager to let them all shine in this new light. Happy dooming and here's to another 30 years of keyboarding!
@@jrknsOFF whoa, that sounds like a pretty out-there control scheme! But hey, whatever feels best to you, ofc :) I just use the default control scheme, except with Z bound as the 180 turn key and A + D as extra strafe keys for easy SR50-ing. So I guess that does mean movement and aiming are done with one hand, except for ALT being the strafe toggle.
"Might as well be walking on the sun" - mate, you missed the perfect Sunlust teaser trailer opportunity there! Will the cover songs make a return to the channel??
@@BeefGeeTV would you be open to making one, say 'retroactively'? Perhaps it could be like a 'mid-season' trailer (which is the current trend in TV shows anyhow) to promote the series for those who aren't watching? Or, just to satisfy us who are waiting for your impeccable singing skills 😉 I'd definitely pay to see/hear such a performance 😁
@@inverse_of_zero haha well, maybe... I'm uploading way less because I'm pretty busy at the moment. So I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty unlikely. But never say never.

Imagine traversing an actual Skania trucks cemetery
that's definitely what they're referring to
I'm getting used to those instant turns around by now :D
I remember when I first started trying them I thought "I'll never remember to do these" and then very quickly they became second nature.
Mad props mate, that lost soul pushing you into that linedef, nightmare fuel!
Yeah that could've gone very wrong, but it made for an exciting moment at least.
Surprised there are no demonic dimmies in the big pools of soy sauce. 👀 nicely sorted, gg! Really love the midi in this one.
Dim 2: Simlust?

shit! The main reason I didn't do one for this series is I couldn't think of a song. The answer was right there all along.
