- Owen is a Halo Lore Expert and superfan! He joins us today to talk everything Halo and Halo TV Series including season 2.
Maybe he can shed some light on what went wrong or why we should like it in this pseudo review / discussion
#halo #halotvseries #paramountplus
This is BARELY a book adaption and it does a huge disservice to the lore the novels have established
Not even an adaption at all at this point.
I was gonna comment and say the same. I wouldn’t even consider it a book adaptation.
@@TheEthanofnazareth yea it's not even close to the books.
The fact that they couldn't be bothered to either look at the games' stories or at least consult some nerd who has, should literally be a crime...
What's insane is they actually have people in the credits listed as HALO CANON TECHNICAL CONSULTANT - KENNETH PETERS, HALO TRANSMEDIA PRODUCER, CHERYL MARINE, SENIOR HALO FRANCHISE MANAGER - CORRINNE ROBINSON
No idea if these people actually do their jobs or not but yeah haha
@burgunbeerd there is a reason they are there and you are stuck doing a TH-cam show for less then 600 people and they are making a show that is liked by millions. Your opions are in echo in a camber of an empty void.
@@yearight5050 They are just comparing stuff.....chill out man. LOL
@@burgunbeerd how much of their suggestions are taken on board, execs can just overrule, that's how we got the Master Chief a commiting war crime by banging Convenant spies.
@@burgunbeerdi could write a better script for the whole series in a single day.
This is an obnoxious interview. Just let the dude explain the lore without interrupting constantly
I think they did but the editing is super choppy and quick? Idk I had the same impression
I’m with you. It’s very irritating how they keep asking questions but won’t let the man talk
Modern discourse in a nutshell.
Very annoying
1:11 oh god a battle rifle!
editor: zooms in on an assault rifle
Yeah probably should've had Owen check the edit too
@@burgunbeerd😂 I actually thought it was hilarious
@@burgunbeerd yeah might miss A DETAIL FRAM THE GAAAAMEESSS god damn I hate halo fans XD
For comparison, Jurassic Park is a good example of an adaptation that’s different from the book but still acts in the spirit of it and is good. “Halo” is what happens when you decide to not only ditch everything that makes the source material of the game appealing but also doing it oh so very badly. And to the tourists saying “but muh different timeline”, F off, different timeline is not a valid excuse for shite. Remember Cowboy Bebop? Yeah, that one crashed and burned harder than an asteroid for the exact same reason.
100% agree some people try to say ohh they follow the books and I say that’s like making lord of the rings all 3 books plus the hobbit in 1 season and all you have to go off of is the cliff notes. Then when it’s completely different say well it’s an adaptation. An adaptation actually adapts real story from the source material not whatever they gave us. Idk why people don’t see that.
@@shotnuke Heck nevermind the game, they don’t even follow the books correctly either even as an adaptation. The Lord of the Rings is also a good example of “adaptation done right” (except Rings of Power, honestly RoP is just as bad as Paramount’s Halo).
@@alexkogan9755 yeah I haven’t read all the halo books but I got the first 3 down and some guy tried telling me I obviously didn’t read all 30 books and that the show is good because it follows them. He argued that they added characters that are in later books and he didn’t want to wait 15 years to see these characters. But the show runners purposely avoided all source material and even if they tried this for season 2 the pacing is super bad to shove 30 books of shit in 8 episodes or whatever lmao. Like what each book gets 1 min of representation in each episode lol. I think he was just saying there’s 30 books I doubt he actually read any of them cause once I said they stated they didn’t and that I know these two season don’t follow the books cause I read the stories they’re “adapting”. he just fell back to well they changed the show runner in season 2 lol.
@@shotnuke I read the 6 Bungie novels, the short story omnibus, and got roughly two books into the 343 stuff before I gave up, because trying to keep tabs on 343’s storylines started feeling like homework.
@@alexkogan9755 lmao sounds about right. I was rooting for 343 when they first took over halo but after seeing their work and how it’s just gotten worse I just have no hope left.
Not a single Grunt in season 2. Unforgivable
actally there are.... in the episode 8... 2 next to the turret on the corvette🙄
Barely enough. In the Reach episode they had Elite’s running straight into bullets.
I thought the whole point of Grunts was because they were cannon fodder. It is still not enough. It’s like they just did it to save money because they went all in on the elite CGI.
If Chief doesn't pop a Grunt so it explodes into confetti, I'm done.
The show runners are ignorant of the military and allergic to the idea of presenting the UNSC or military in general as a positive thing
That's modern writers for ya
The reason the show writers don't honour it is because they are ignorant of the fact that they can sit around and write a show because so many people gave their lives to fight for their freedom to sit around and write bad shows.
@@paihobbes8680 You might want to change your profile pic.

10:27 it's also in halo 4, meeting with librarian. "I hid seeds from the Didact. Seeds that would lead to and eventuality. Your physical evolution, your combat skin, even your ancilla Cortana. You are the culmination of a thousand lifetimes of planning"
You guys got it right. That stuff shouldve been subtle and only to be blatantly stated by either librarian or halsey herself, as she did pick up on the breadcrumbs.
It’s a wiki book adaption, they really are just replacing important plot threads and creating completely different stories
It's not book based in any normal sense of the word.
They are grabbing random plot points and settings out of context.
Like a chicken picking at the ground for worms.
The show is its own haphazard lore, a horrible facsimile.
@@LeoInterVir Agreed but this is me being nice and said they read the wiki
Spartan II’s were literally created to un-alive insurrections. Fun Fact.
Throughout the Halo games and books Chief's character has grown and has shown some emotion but he's always remained stoic. In Halo 4 when Captain Rios was screaming at him to surrender Cortana he kept his cool. Like an optimus prime type character. Master Chief in the TV series is a bipolar guy with a mangina!
I've felt like the Master Cheeks's Halo was written by someone who hates Halo so much but the writer was forced to include things from the game to attract fans so he did so reluectantly and as less as possible, just enough to satisfy the fans as less as possible. Just to string you along. Just so you continue the subscription.
.
Combine this with the fact that they were not aiming to make excellent content (you want to see excellent Halo movie? Forward Until Dawn is an exemplary example.) but aiming to prolong your subscription as long as possible, at least to make their quarterly figures look good. As a result, you have a total shit as a show as Master Cheeks' Halo.
.
PS. the Halo games are the core content of Halo series, not the books, not that the books aren't good, they are excellenct. But those books are supplementary of the games, not the other way around.
I don’t know if it’s so much that the writers hate the games as much as they saw an opportunity to push their own original characters (Kwan as a prime example) and at the same time completely disregarding the actual “Halo” stuff
1:33 They're VK78 Commandos from Infinite, I didn't catch it at first glance either mainly because it doesnt have the sight on it
Owens response, "Well fuck me dead, they are too."
You have outnerded him and must take his place
It's ight. Everyone forgot about infinite.
Halo expert here!
I tell you that they are nowhere near the books or the game
Can confirm as well.
It's a random mish mash of Halo artefacts bent and twisted into a horribly illogical dumpster fire mutant.
Exactly. The main expert has obviously forgotten a lot or didn't read.
The TV show was basically written by the Gravemind after he injected the flood into the games and books.
If Paramount is going to flow into Halo 1 moving forward, then they already screwed themselves by changing characters, maps, species, and equipment they NEED.
They are not really following lore yknow.. So if you expect them going lore wise your setting yourself upp to be annoyed. Just watch it and dont think loore, its good then in my opininon. Not season 1 tho that was bad
its difficult not to think lore but i hear ya. Your last sentence made me laugh lol@@havard847
@@rebeccamartinez6014 yeah i get it, i struggled a bit in season 1 but i accepted it wont be lore and in season 2 me and my girl who never playd the games had fun watching it and now we are playing the games and just did ce and starting on halo 2👌 and even she does think it would ne better with helmet on more but its fine honestly once i got used to it
im glad people are enjoying it. hopefully itll pave way for better adaptations to emerge that follow the lore. i would like to see more not just from the games cinematics but boks as well

Should anyone be surprised with the Halo TV show direction the executive producer is Kiki Wolfkill. 11:16 well Halo 4, Halo 5 and this TV show both have Kiki Wolfkill as the producer.
Even before Halo 4’s release in 2011 Kiki Wolfkill said in an interview that Master Chief is emotional and is a human, not a machine. She has consistently drove 343 Industries in this direction with the games and now the Paramount TV Show.
It’s all consistent with the vision of the people in charge.
i like halo 4. i don't have much to say about MP because i only played MP because others wanted me to.
Who are the experts? An expert would know the game and the books, especially since there is so much lore in the books. We are basically at ghost of onyx and the 1st halo game at the same time.
The writers of the show and Kiki Wolfkill hated the Bungie lore and history because they thought it "glorified the military and war".
That is why the military is cartoonishly evil. They put their ideology before the story. The big question should be, who in the hell thought it was a good idea to put people that actively hated Bungies stories and lore and put them in charge of adapting it to tv?
The show never had a chance.
they should have made one season for each book tbh. pacing would have felt great and had the chance to flesh out character properly.
I've read some of the books, this show is barely based on the books. It shat on both the books and games. If it was actually based on the books it would have been a lot better
I don't see Mater Chief fighting against the military complex honestly as he just ignores orders full stop and gets away with it over and over again. The whole soldier/military aspect in the show is a bad joke. I still don't understand why in the second season Chief feels a need for Cortana as they didn't get along for season one. I also don't see why they have brought in the Flood so soon we have barely spent any real time on the Covenant war, especially it being a war that's so deadly humanity is at risk of extinction. The show is a mid tier science fiction show with some cool moments but a half arsed plot if you stop to think about it for a couple of minutes.
The halo season writers had the simplest task in all of the world. A freaking infantile dimwit could’ve put a TV show series together, based on Lore far better than the Paramount writers did. Paramount and the Garbage writers purposefully wrote their own story therefore, it is nothing like the books or the game.
Uh I think these experts are questionable! 3s were older but still far more powerful than a normal soldier!
Just the discussion about 3s or 4s explains the writers were horrible and did not keep with lore😂
If I find myself asking someone if I should like a TV show or not, I have given up on individuality. The Gravemind is real.
Lmao Gravemind would be terrified of the Halo show
I like how some TH-camr cgi’d to have his helmet on the whole episode
Best clip ever
This was actually really cool to see you pick someone brain about the books vs games vs the show
Maybe it needs to become a series for us
just because ackerson was working on the threes for years, doesn't mean there were actually any spartans until the last moment. He could have been working out the method and equipment used to rapidly recruit and train into spartans, so that they could be produced very quickly and at a higher rate,, and then once disaster struck reach they activated the program to fully operational, recruited a bunch of existing marines, and put them through "ackersons boot camp". This would make sense for many things, including all of them being very committed no matter what the cost, and perez being there on such short notice.
About AI taking over armor: Most Spartans were weary about AI. Chief wasnt even all that sold on Cortana until i believe it was said First Strike and was weary about an AI being able to comtrol him. Fred actually did have his armor "taken over" by a forerunner ancilla (Intrepid Eye) but from what I've read it seemed more controlling the pressurization to affect his movements versus being able to fully control his impulses so I guess it was limited and very jerky. I still need to read it for myself. In relation to Chief, Cortana greatly enhances his reaction time, can bolster his armor's capabilities, and make split second decisions by the merit of faster processing. Cortana saved Chief from the Flood early on when one infection form found a gap to pierce into his neck. Chief thought he was done, but Cortana made a split second decision to surge power through his suit which killed fhe infection form and saved Chief's life. So at best (Human) AI enhance the armor's capabilities but have no basis of physically controlling its operator.
The spartan 3s look like they’re using Commando rifles from infinite?
The spartan 3s at the start are using a VK-78 commando , which is in Halo Infinite and in the lore saw use as early as 2495
It "feels" like its more based of books but the issue is instead of it being one book and the next season being another book. Each episode is like they took 10 pages of each book and smashed it together. If the Show was fully based around the books I would have no issue but it seems like people who know nothing of the universe cant make up there mnind to do there own thing or base it fully off the books or games.
Jesus Halo, I live for your thumbnail
Wonder if Mass Effect franchise would get this treatment. If so, I would hold off until we can ppl who are actual fans to take inspiration and build off the source material
Pray it gets stuck in pre-production for at least the next 5 years
I guess this was filmed before finale
Agreed. The finale was excellent.
@@skyhunter2816Pretty low standards considering the entire Tv series.
wouldn't know. ended my subscription. Halo show is absolutely trash.
@@skyhunter2816 finale was garbage and stomped on almost all of the Halo timeline
@@skyhunter2816 excellent as manure.
Its amazing to me that they botched the show this badly. A liqoured up variant of the Chat AI could have wiped its ass with a piece of printer paper and produced a better adaptation of the material.
"I guess the games got more story focused later on and less bang bang-"
Honestly, it's the opposite. Yes, Chief gets more emotionally vulnerable in the 343 games, but an emotionally vulnerable character =/= does not mean automatically good story. The first 3 games are an allegory for religious zealotry and Chief is a good stoic character because he amplifies and contrasts the emotion and personality of the characters around him. It's a master stroke in storytelling, the environments are practically their own character (think the Halos, Reach, Ark, New Mombasa, High Charity).
Master chief has always had feelings.
The spartan 3s are using commandos from Halo infinite. You would know it if you play the games
Still the wrong gun 👀

Original game and novel lore: Flood infects most of the galaxy, Forerunners try their best to fight it, but they fail, create the Halo rings as a last resort, and use them to wipe out all sentient life in the Galaxy including themselves, in order to starve the parasite of its food. Once done, the AI of the Forerunners reseeded life across the Milkyway, leaving only the ruins and ancient structures and the AI that ran those installations, as any evidence of the existence of their culture. (THE HALO RINGS EXIST TO DEPRIVE THE FLOOD OF FOOD, BECAUSE IT ISN'T A SIMPLE DISEASE THAT CAN BE CURED.)
TV show S2: Flood appears, infects a scientist, and is dealt with fairly quickly by HUMAN medicine, for what should be the beginning of the final boss of the original trilogy. (IF THE FLOOD WAS THAT EASY TO CURE, WHY DID THE FORERUNNERS MAKE THE RINGS??? WHY DO THEY EXIST???)
Thus leaving the Halo rings as mere magical weapons/objects that everyone wants to find and use for their own means, despite not actually knowing anything about them, and their ultimate purpose that could have been revealed now makes no sense.
Also season 2
Where are the energy shields?
Zoids!! it's been ages since the last time hearing about that anime.
Just makes me sad knowing how much potential is being wasted with this show. And the fact that it’s probably the only live action show we’ll ever get.
I feel you bro, I’m would just stick to the books, games and the REAL Halo movies that have been made. The show doesn’t respect the IP and the fans
Last Airbender by Mnight got trashed and that took 14 years to reboot. Harry Potter was loved and it's about to get a reboot 25 years later. I wouldn't say this is the only adaption we'll ever get but be prepared to wait a while before they try again haha
Halsey found John based on his genes… that is the whole point of his special status😮
Why do you not say that
Killing the Arbiter off was a big mistake in my opinion and killed the show even more
Just plainly. They don't want the grand ideas of the original Halo material to infect people's mind like One Piece.Gotta keep primal and small mind pity.Trying to explain concepts like ancient man(reclaimers) the true purpose of the flood, and gene sounds to non sci-fi watchers is a chore.
Why are they trying to catch up with the game, this sounds like the same logic that turned the DCU into a disaster by trying to catchup with the MCU. They're skimming over the best material because they don't know if it will be renewed???
Parangosky was introduced in Ghosts of Onyx, i thought
As someone who's always a major halo lore nerd, he summed it up pretty damn well. The show takes elements from various books and kinda just smashes them together.
But it's worse than that, it does it without context or chronology.
It's like a clueless chicken picking at the ground for worms as if they were plot points.
Even to people who only played the games, the show makes no sense.
If this was a movie, it would be considered franchise ending.
It's like someone picked up the Halo visual guide, read a few character descriptions and ran with it.
Its not a book adaption. They are cherry picking at a maximum of 10% from the books, and doing it in the most incoherent and uninspired way possible.
Super fans like it because they cannot handle the idea of a Halo product being thought of as poor quality or be ragged on by non-super fans.
I too have read all the books, both Bungie and 343i (faceplam) eras. I've played all the games aside from Guardians and Infinite (because I can only bare so much bad.)
The show is awful, and watches more like a slap in the face than a compelling narrative. It is a clear case of IP high-jackery.
The show breaks further away from Canon with each major plot point, starting with makee her very existence breaks Canon in an unrepairable way and negates the very reason for the human covenant war.
It all downhill from there, miscarictarizing events, killing off characters vital to the plot, at this pont its obvious there just trying to do there own thing because we've veered so far off course it's tragic.
I get doing things differently for adapting it to TV but this is like a captain telling his crew to turn the ship 1 degree and the helmsman saying fuck it and spinning the wheel like he's playing wheel of fortune.
It’s honestly crazy how many so called “Super-fans” are coping for this series.
Halo TV never Impresses to make me angry. Got introduced to the flood finally
Get this. THEY ARE JUST ZOMBIES. How can this shit be so creatively bankrupt ? With such good source Material.
The people writing the Halo Show better not be planning to make a cure to THE FLOOD...
Context: Halsey is infected
The whole point of the flood was that it was unstoppable and they had to make giant space rings just to starve them not kill them starve them I swear this show needs to get cancelled.
And get this. Humans Release the Flood. Not The Covenant. They found the flood on Onyx. Onyx seriously ? You know the Shield world THAT WAS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATED TO PROTECT it's inhabitants from the flood..
1:29 but aren’t the spartan 3s using the commando from halo infinite, not a gun from Titan fall
John 100% belongs to Linda. I don't know why they didn't go that route. Like I feel like I remember they were the only ones would like blush at each other or escape together or something. Not to mention John rescues her from her cryo tank after Halo 1.
I would love to have this conversation with you guys I would’ve add some extra information to answer some questions that were not answering. But this was amazing great work!
Did not expect the Zoids reference haha
Nobody ever expects the zoids inquisition
The show's Spartan IIIs appear to be using the the commando rifle from 343's Halo Infinite. It looks smaller though so I'm unsure.
The previous show runner Steven Kane did clarify they played the games. They just didn't play them when they visited 343i HQ.
so we got click baited by "journalists" ??
@@larssonk22 yes, baited by the headline
What has me confused is they chose to release the flood on Onyx. Which is like uhhh, the first game only worked because the flood were released on halo. Why would they catch up to “the game” when their writing clearly is diverging from that?
People need to stop thinking loore watching it honestly, if theyr gonna enjoy the series and not just complain. Im interested to see what they will do with the flood
@@havard847 I get your point. But I personally feel their changes are weird. It’s an ok show if you just consider it generic sci-fi and not really halo. But an adaptation should be grounded in the lore. And that goes for literally anything. Imagine a lord of the rings movie that doesn’t have the fellowship of the ring and their trek to mt. Doom to destroy the ring.
It's the SERIES FINALE to me!
It's not a book adaption. Quit calling it a book adaption. Its got no more in common with the books than it does the games.
This all will end after season 3. They pilfered too many themes from all over the place and butchered them too quickly. It leaves them with no other option than for it to all end on this halo. If Paramount have any sense they will cut this series off at the neck. Lazy writing.
I mean they already killed the arbiter so there goes any plot point leading into halo 2
Not to mention the killed captain Keyes in the most lame way (probably because the actor wanted out when he realized he should have been casted as sgt johnson) so it's a toss up as to who will end up becoming the protogravemind, probably gonna be Miranda, which would also negate most of halo 2 and 3....this showbis a cluster fuck of poor planning and poor research.
The guest was way more interesting than the interviewers and they struggle with that.
oh it's very good and interesting to listen to them, I love halo, I love the lore of halo, and this video is incredible, they don't dictate hate to the series like other channels, I personally like the series, of course that's my opinion , especially this second season, greetings guys.
I'm a PlayStation player and the show pisses me off -_- and I've only solely played halo 2 because I have OG Xbox.

To be fair we have to admit that we have hated the actor that played Master Chief but it wasn't his fault.
Actors don't writes scripts and shows.
They just act.
So accusing him is kinda unfair.
Where’s the reaction here? Forgive me, but I was expecting a real time reaction to the Halo tv show with three Halo Fans reacting to it.
You actually consider this following the books? Other than using a few names and a few general locations, it's nothing like the books at all.
The Halo franchise should have been renamed long ago to something more central to the subject material, something simple and to the point like "Master Chief", or even simply "117".
You absolutely can make this “for the game fans”. Those are those most successful adaptations that exist. The ones “for the fans”. Because said fans bring all their friends who: don’t have an Xbox, don’t game, don’t like shooters, etc. The new medium is what allows the audience to grow. The original fan base shows up because they get to see what they love brought to life, and then you add all the people who had some kind of barrier preventing them from accessing/enjoying the game. Changing drastically alienates the core fans, though with good writing you can get new ones (seems TLOU is a good example of that one from what I’ve heard). Changes plus bad writing just means nobody is excited
Keep in mind, the plot twist regarding the Halo’s true purpose of wiping the galaxy clean to deprive the Flood of their food source, because there is no cure.
The artifact in season one is how the humans learn the Halo is a super weapon.
Cowboy bebop didn’t hold up is wild 😂, that anime is peak.

As a hardcore halo fan. I really really really feel sad that the amount of L's this IP is getting. Really sad.
I like how you guys had a DISCUSSION about the season instead of just complaining about it. Anyways... Kai is bae and this season was a 4/10. Don't renew lol
Some lore whoopsies here, the book Epitaph helps with alot of recent halo games lore !
my main problem with the show is ...colours ....halo is not a universe where its all dark and bleek....maybe dark sometimes...this show needs colours...master chief needs more green in him..
The series is actually halo inspired
Madame Web was Spider-Man inspired.
Great discussion gents. I do not know Halo's history nor did I play the game. I understand fans being disappointed when creators venture away from the source material. I get it. I can only critique it from the average person's, non-gamer, perspective.
I thought the show was decent. Was it Dune, Mandalorian (s1-2),The Expanse (s1-3) good? No. As a science fiction fan, I thought the writers did a decent job of telling a story. Whether that is accurate to the lore, the Halo historians can speak to that. Kwan Ha was my least favorite character. Even without knowing any of Halo's history, I felt she was made up. She seemed like she was horseshoed into the story. I agree the directing could have been better as well. I see it as an above average show.
Most of season two gives me RedvsBlue Season 3-5 vibes.
They need to pull the plug. I haven't even seen this show and all I can say is if its that bad and if the fans are saying its bad, pull the plug.
I can agree with you guys how it feels like the show jumbling so many plots or story devices without having a proper approach to tell it. One thing I really hate about the show is they don’t flesh out anything or even try to expand on things that can get people invested into the universe, I wish the show focused on Spartans and the symbol they represent or their stoic and cold nature compared to marines or the UNSC staff. I hate how they brushed reach one of the biggest events in Halo. The writers don’t care enough to expand on like the covenant caste system or the crazy religious stuff with the prophets. I feel like this show is sort of a waste of time for any viewer trying to understand or enjoy halo.
It's bad fanfiction. Its not even a good sci-fi show, let alone a good Halo show.
It’s not a book adaptation either. It doesn’t line up at all with halo.
My reaction to the show is “wtf is going on and I’m SOOOO BORED.. the boring waste of plots doesn’t make any sense
That was halo 4 and 5…
I feel like the show was written by Ai. Close but not close enough. If you type in halo with drama into chat GPT 4 you get the Halo tv show.
The halo expert doesn't recognise the Commando from Halo 4/5/6
You guys should react to the halo 2 anniversary cutscenes.

Very soon on this channel! Just gotta find time to sit down and film the chat
If you would kindly pass on my question to Owen, I would be very thankful, I have been trying to figure this out for the entirety of these two seasons: “Does the existence of Makee break the entire Covenant religion? Since a human is the only one capable of actually speaking with the ‘Gods’.” Also loved this video, first time watching and you get my subscription lol.
It's like if there was a black, Jewish and gay general in the SS
Owens reply - "It very much so breaks it.
In the Prime Timeline the Covenant believe themselves to the the chosen of the Gods (Forerunners), when the Prophets learn that it's all a lie and Humanity are the chosen they choose to exterimate them to cover it up.
Here they openly admit that Makee is a "blessed one" so it's up in the air as to what their motive is as they're all cool with Makee being their token human that can access Forerunner Artifacts that they the 'chosen' cannot?
I highly doubt we're going to see anything from Contact Harvest in Season 3 explaining the start of the war as we're already neck deep in this whole Blessed One trope."
@@burgunbeerd Thank you tons!
@@burgunbeerdguarantee with the "fuck the UNSC themes it'll be revealed that ONI did some out of character bullshit that pissed the Covenant off and that's what started the war.
It 150% breaks Canon, in fact it negates the entire reason for the human covenant war, in the book, "Contact harvest" when the covenant first discover humanity on the planet "harvest" they were going to integrate humanity into the covenant, however the device they were using to find forerunner artifacts was lighting and pinging every single human on the planet as a "reclaimer" a high status religious title within the covenant, to make a literally long story short, the prophets realized that if this information got out it would reshape the entire covenant and subsequently remove them from power placing humanity on top, so they declared exterminatus on the entire human race to cover up the secret.
the prophets would have never allowed a human to be a part of the covenmuch less a high rank, it completely breaks the story.
Seems all there changes are just a middle finger to the original creator and his beliefs.
I thought they were gonna actually watch and react to the series.
they actually called how they got on the halo ring lol
