I love the way he reacts to getting two frame-perfect hits in a row on the boss.

Spike makes this game look WAAAY to easy. One of the hardest games to play as an adult, let alone a kid. As he says, 'unfair' is the best way to describe it. Crazy skill to do the stuff he's doing.
Not sure if I agree with the statement that it's among the hardest game to play as an adult but it's up there, and what this runner does is definitely mindblowing to watch. What I also loved about Rayman was that you could play the soundtracks by putting the game disc in your CD player. I remember I used to do that every now and then while doing my homework.
+ReasonerUK Yeah I think it is hard... especially the PS1 version and if I recall from another speed-run SpikeVegeta did of this game... he said that he doubted that he could even complete the game the normal proper way if he didn't use the speed-run strategies.
Never made it past the slidey music note level as kid... so much nostalgia though from those first few levels xD
It's so weird actually seeing SpikeVegeta playing something after I've gotten so used to hearing him reading donation comments all the time. XD
Not for me as I saw his older Rayman run back in 2013 first.
JawaKiller yeah. I have been watching him since he ran FF9 with puwexil. Loved them both ever since. Enjoyable runners.

When people say Dark Souls is hard, I have 'Nam Flashbacks of this game.
I love how 20 years later, people are still finding secrets to this game.

It's up there, Spyro 2 always has a special place in my heart when it comes to aesthetics though

Rayman.. may not be the most famous 2D platform, but is definitely has 1st place in my heart. Nostalgia hits like a truck.

Never actually seen a Spike run before. I'm just so used to him as a reader. He speaks kinda slowly as a reader, but here he was, like, totally a motormouth. Kind of a weird shock to my system.

That's some serious skill. I've had this game for almost 16 years and I still can't beat it.
I'm actually super proud that, as a child, I got up to the pencil kingdom. There I got stuck at the jumping puzzle wheren you have to run jump glide through the pencils xD

I remember reaching the first level of the music zone, and I never fought the real mosquito boss, just the flunky you fight before the auto-scroller.

When I played this game as a kid, I don't think I ever even managed to get past the first level or two of Band Land, much less reach the boss. It'd be pretty cool to see how far I get in this game now, though.

its odd how there wasnt another 2d rayman game until rayman origins. tons of mechanics just werent used until like 2010 or something.

I cant believe how good he is with this game.I have 99 lives and I am struggling with this game (I couldn't beat it with standard amount of lives). 2 bosses left to go and it is nightmare. Definitely the hardest game I have ever played.

I like the DSI port of the game, as it's much more easy. you get 5 base health and it extends to 7. also, the trigger points to spawn items are highlighted with sparkles.
Man, I could never get past the flood stage in this game.
I never got past the last part of eat at joe's despite trying millions of times. Now that I see how short the last part was, me and my brother were literally one jump away from finishing it :(
Nice speedrun i realy love this game. But you know the lv with the darkness is difficult but i always had more problems in the Land of Music xD

I've only played the GBA Port, the 3DS port of Rayman, and Origins. I need to get to playing and beating these games. Origins I did beat, but not Rayman 3D or Rayman Advanced.

Is it an accent or is he actually meaning to say JagWIRE ? I mean, he's definitely saying Jaguar incorrectly, I'm just wondering if it's an accent or a mistake.
It may be they are doing it on purpose as I am fairly sure the couch said Jaguire when it brought it up. On the other hand the runner sounded serious as he spoke it so im unsure.
Seriously the developers on this game either forgot to add more 1UPs to this game or just decided to be super cruel to their playerbase

Well I only cleared it thanks to a cheat code that set your lives to 99 and replenishes your health. I'm pretty sure why they put it in. Even with that, there are plenty of really hard parts but at least you can retry.
Its not really rushed, its more of an example of Nintendo Hard fake difficulty. It has to do with how back then, they didn't had a good grasp as to how they should challenge their players. It's also the reason why games nowadays looks much easier as well.

Unfortunately, the first version of Rayman that I played was Rayman Advance. Fun game, but man that screen resolution made the game even more difficult. Didn't know it was that bad of a port, amazing run indeed.
