Thanks for this vid. I rolled my zook on its side with the tractor to make it easy to get the t-case out. Took about 30 minutes and I could clean out the bits of the seal at the bottom that had gone brittle.
You are very welcome and also a brave man. Aside from fluid leaks i see no harm in your method. Please make sure you have a catch pan though. And also make sure piston cylinders are not filled with fluid. As long as you know those you can do whatever to your zook
2 things: 1) That rubber o-ring you found was likely what was left of the original bushing. Mine was nearly destroyed with some meat left in places but also looked like a flat washer gasket. 2) Rather than using a really long screw driver to line up the squares, use the shift lever. Simply insert the shift lever, lift it about 1/4" (simulating the height of bushing) and you can easily manipulate the T-case to the position you want.
Helpful video. Thank you!🙏 Got me home as my samurai stuck in neutral… Second transfer case doing this… Ordered new bushings, old was turned in to plastic dust actually…
Dude you are a life saver this was exacly my issue with my Maruti Gypsy, Thank you so much, i moved the forks back using the shifter stick itself as an easy alternatvie
Think you for the video it helped out a lot. Note: I did not have a long screwdriver. So I actually use the shifter like I would use the screwdriver and got it unstuck. Think you.
Hi there, i hope you will find this remark please. My SJ413 (Samurai) is not stuck in neutral or in 4H or 4L, i can freely move the shifter to any position. The problem is, once I select 2H and release the clutch, the car does not move. If I select either 4L or 4H, and then release the clutch, the car moves. The wf hubs are in the "Free" position. Thanks
Hey just saved my ass from being stranded after I had to pull something and tried to go into 2wd and wouldve been stuck so thank you. Also using the actual shifter lever to move them works perfectly
Can you please make a video explain how the t shifter works in road and how to avoid any damage when you use it cause i cant understand how it works and also my mechanic just left it infront and told me leave it as it is and people said leave it in the middle center so please make a video explain the t shifter at all
hello, im having trouble getting the gear stick out. ive tried all the different spanners and my hands but no joy. anything else that could help me get it out? thanks
It has a spring under it that keeps it secure. You have to push down to compress the spring and rotate, i think counterclockwise. its locked in using a small metal tab that catches on the stick. the base should just unlock and it should just lift out like in the video.
my samurai when i select 4HI the indication lamp comes on in the dashboard but the car does not goes on 4x4 and the lamp after turns off, do you know whats the problem?
There is a little silicon bush sitting there with the O clip ring beneath the shifter lever. So you have to pull out the lever and the O clip ring and fix that little silicon bush....
Mine had the exact same flat rubber gasket. Might be a coincidence and maybe that rubber gasket is meant to be there and it was just the sheet that completely deteriorated and crumbled...My 30 year old Sammy looked exactly like that. I left the rubber gasket and installed the new sheet from that same kit...performed perfect...:)
I did this and it worked for maybe 2-3 shifts and then went right back to being stuck except this time it is stuck in 2wd instead of neutral. Any ideas?
That should mean your able to drive your vehicle to its nearest point and fix the issue. Unless your repairing the issue, this fix was to get you off the trail and on your way. Wow you shifted trans gears without a new sheet after this advice??? Sorry you didnt get the point of this video.
If you cant shift into 5th with the car off then the gear must be messed up or the shifter internally. If you can with it off and not while driving then the syncros might be messed up and not meshing right.
Life saver, was in a bad situation and needed this video

Thanks for this, I had to change a clutch on something similar and afterwards it was stuck in 4H. Really helped me out.
Thanks man, you saved my life . ( you can use the shift to move the fork if you don’t have a long screw driver
I just done that also 👌☺️
This video really got me out of a jam (literally). Otherwise, I'd still probably be stuck in Williams, A total lifesaver!!

My car is stuck in the first gear of the main gearbox. How should I proceed to repair the same?

I go to zuks off road for my brass shifter sheet and bushing. It's the T-bra for Samurai. To turn the boot I also used a grinder's pin wrench.
Have yet to try a brass sheet but willing once this one gos!

Thank you so much.this video really helped me a lot....
Why is the video not playing got stuck on 0:22
I'm not finding the part on their site, do you know the part number?
Its the sloppy shifter kit for the samurai. Sku: sloppy-shift
Thanks mate. That solved the problem!
Can you please sent me the dimensions so i can make me a bussing. I am in namibia and getting parts is a huge problem
Bru you legend bro 🙌 🙏 👏 💯
Thank you so much man
You do not need a screwdriver to realign. Use the same shifter. Just take it out and reposition it in 4 low then in one motion move it to 2 high.
Guys my gears are stuck
Really need a video showing how to re align
Can't see too well on this one
Thìs is the transfer case that is stuck. Align the gaps and install shifter and you will be in neutral in the transfer case.
Anyone have issues putting back the cup? It won't twist to move back in place? Is there a tool ?
You have to push and twist to lock it in
I did this and it worked for maybe 2-3 shifts and then went right back to being stuck except this time it is stuck in 2wd instead of neutral. Any ideas?

Actually.. your moron and should not own a 4wd...thanks for trolling my page.
I HAD THE CLACH KIT REPLACE BUT NO I CANT SHIFT IN TO 5th GEAR ,WHY ???

Audio is terrible. Was still somewhat able to follow along with the video. Liked the long red handle slotted screw driver shifter upgrade. LOL.
