Number 1, the rubber boot can and will expand over the shifter without tearing, and 2, you could have unscrewed the bolts without taking the boot off. I have doen this many times with the Suzuki Samurai/Jimny.
@@zero187420 I have 35s on the Samurai Larry if you must ask silly questions sometimes on the trail it becomes necessary to shift from 2 to 1 my old F250 shifts fine from 2 to 1 while rolling.
As you go into neutral...blip the throttle and put a little tension on the shift lever towards first gear...as the revs drop the gears will synchronize and it will drop into first.

Does this kit work for jimnys as well?? My mechanic told me after i gave it to him that it didn’t fit. Maybe i should try it myself?
Great man! Thanks for the video!
Your very welcome!
Very helpful
Can't believe you just cut that boot without even trying to stretch it. It will stretch and fit over the shifter. That was enough for me.
hey I was wondering how long that shaft pin lasted on the shifter is it still going?
Yes its still going. The vehicle isnt a daily driver but everything is holding up.
@@zero187420 thanks for the response really good to know
How did you get the tower off? I removed the 4 bolts but mine wont budge. Thanks for the video.
tap it with a hammer. its probably the gasket maker holding it in
This might be a stupid question but is this for a manual shifter or automatic?
Manual
I just changed mine but I’m still getting a little play, almost as much as before, any idea what i might have done wrong
Not sure. Maybe nothing. It could be internal. I changed mine due to ot not shifting. Did you have any problems before?
My transmission wont go in 1st when rolling only when at a dead stop you think this will fix it?
You new to stick shifts? 1st is from stop, if your ever rolling you just pop it in second and go.
