    you talking about the effects of social media is something I WISH people would talk about more!!! i started a social media detox a few months ago (bar youtube since I use it for educational content/selfcare/working out and its long-form), and let me tell you it feels like I can see everything so much clearer. the chokehold tiktok had on me is crazy. I'm so much freer now, reading more, better attention span, more productive... the list goes on. anyway, great vid!! :)

      @ reading books, meditation, spending time with people, listening to music, hobbies. Limit your phone time, let’s say you use 5hrs a day slowly reduce by removing one hour every month.

    • @sofiiaaaaaa
      @sofiiaaaaaa 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @lea1luv, honestly? I deleted all the social media I spent too much time on. In the case of TH-cam, only use it when strictly necessary (workout, tutorial) on your browser or not at all until the temptation of short-form content goes away (in my experience, I use TH-cam freely and no longer want to use yt shorts). You'll probably find yourself reinstalling it but delete it every time (at least until you don't find the need to or no longer have the temptation to use it all the time). You'll be bored at first but try and read, get stuff done, go on walks, pursue hobbies, etc.... basically anything other than be on your screen. You got this!!!!!!!

    as much as people would argue with me on this topic, money does not always equal happiness. 100% agree with you, no matter how much money you spend or all the products you use, if you're not doing well internally, mentally, emotionally it will show through the "glow up" you're trying to achieve physically. (not that glowing up can't be physical, it's a bonus like you said, but the internal glow up shows through)

    • @salkeri
      @salkeri 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +40

      I feel like money not equalling happiness should only apply to unnecessary things like expensive beauty maintenance. That’s not going to fix your self esteem. But money does equal happiness bc with money comes less stress.

      Not being able to protect or provide for yourself or the people you love will always lead to emotional and mental breakdown. Financial insecurity sure as heck equals misery. If money doesn't equal happiness you're spending it wrong. You can buy happiness because you can buy freedom. It's paying for someone's groceries who's card has been declined. It's taking a long weekend every once and while and still being able to pay rent. Spending money on consumables is where the rich are idiotic. Money buys time. Literal years on earth. Wealth means better health. Wealth means not being vulnerable to abuse. Wealth means outsourcing headaches and chores.

    1:00 THANK YOU for acknowledging the mental and long-term physical glow up creators 😭 my biggest nightmare is being stereotyped as a typical influencer that promotes the exact opposite of these values. they don't realize that we're not "glowing up" because we want to, but because we HAVE to (e.g. mental glow up bc we've been hurt, dealing with trauma, HEALING ourselves). it takes sooo much time to do this and it looks so different from these stereotypical surgical or as you said "instant gratification glow up"

    My Grandad and mum would always say to me it’s ok to like unhealthy foods or not be healthy for a while as we all go through struggles/trials with food, as life gets in the way, but always try to do *everything in moderation* and this has stuck with me when I’m struggling. I hope this helps people as well 🤗

    Best way to be beautiful and glow is definitely focusing on health, eating the rainbow, cutting out sugar, finding healthy foods and meals you like, lifestyle change etc etc. Good health will always win. However, it takes time to do this so reming yourself it’s a lifelong change not a “in a month” “in a week” change. ❤️ 😊Good things take time

      I also don’t know if this was just me but I had always noticed how some people just naturally glowed, I wanted what they had and wondered how I could be that way. I realized that God was in a lot of those people’s lives, Jesus shone through those people. If you want to try something else y’all, try Jesus.

    Girl, I'm so glad you say what needs to be said. Everyone needs a friend who gives them a gentle reality check after all the internet brainrot grabs ahold of us. I feel like I've been having an internal glow-up since November, I'm in the process of it and it's really changing how I act and how I look, how I go into the world and respond to people etc. and it feels way better than any overnight haircut and makeup glow-up (although I'm still adding that stuff to this glow-up, it's just not my main source of joy here).

    To add onto the topic of inflammation, big pores on the face that pump out oil will definitely contribute to inflammation! I’ve stayed the same weight from 14-19, but my face (especially my nose) is waaay slimmed down now because I figured out a skincare routine to help minimize pores and oil production. Good luck to everyone on their glow up journey!

      @@Vampirelov3r2000 My two recommendations are to see a dermatologist and use a salicylic acid cleanser! A doctor can give you way better advice than I ever could. If I were you I would ask for products to help regulate oil production (like salicylic acid). Sulfur cream and other exfoliants can also, but again a dermatologist is the move if you're looking for something more customized.

    Running every day in the biggest urban park in Philly is not to lose weight, it’s not to lose inches, it’s to stop me from having addiction cravings and give me dopamine and time to think and breathe in nature. Because of the weather lately, I haven’t been able to go and the difference in my attitude, my happiness, energy, sleep, and my face puffiness, it’s not good. I don’t go to the gym because it’s easy to do weights and pilates and stand on my head at home.

    I'm 42. More often than not I'm told that I look at least a decade or more younger. I always say my secrets are simple. Eat well, some form of physical fitness, and Lower stress ..I cannot stress enough! If it stresses you out eliminate it as much as realistically possible. Simple isn't always easy but simple works. Also as far as skincare, I use more clean simple products. A lot of K beauty without extra chemicals. And don't compare yourself physically with others. Find your own beauty style and just be the best version of yourself. Hope this helps ❤

    I started my internal transformation a couple months ago, and I've been looking so pretty lately. Also I've been losing the weight that I've been struggling for years to get rid on. You need to destress before losing weight because if you're stressed out, then your body will hold on to it. Setting up a million appointments doesn't really do much for your looks, but it does make you broke. Open a high yield savings account, Roth IRA, 401 K, or brokerage account. Just something to retire your future self. It's not going to be cute being broke in your 40's when you could've leveled up your whole lifestyle.

    I will forever get my beauty maintenance done by professionals… I would rather spend time learning something meaningful related to my career or life purpose than a skill that somebody else can do much better already because it is their actual career… and not just that, I could seriously hurt myself trying to do some of these things when I’m not properly trained, like for example working with gel polish (getting a reaction from touching skin) or chemicals for lash lifts (burning/destroyibg lashes), there is a reason why the people who do these things go through education/training before starting their business… if you don’t have the money I understand you would take that risk but since I can I’m just happy I have the means to keep the quality and safety of my services and support a talented professional in something they are passionate about

      Oh trust me, when it comes to certain things I’ll get them done most of us girlies do. Even when I don’t feel like doing my hair i’ll get it done. It’s more about challenging yourself to learn something new. It is the BEST feeling in the world when you can say you did your own hair etc 🎀. The point here is that social media makes a lot of us feel like we HAVE to get our beauty maintenance done to feel glowed up. I’m giving my girlies options if they want to be high maintenance on a budget cause a lot of us have been in a place where we are saving, broke, etc. Of course do your research, and lash clusters, press ons etc are all safe diy options for us girlies onna budget and they also exist for a reason 💕

    I also invest some money in a nice face mask and an exfoliator for at home facials. Then, all I have to do is get microneedling or a chemical peel once or twice a year which definitely should be done by a licensed professional.

    all that beauty on the outside but what about internally? if you don’t work on that then none of this outside matters in the long run. a lesson that has to be learned, natural beauty is at the root of not having to do the most and spend thousands of dollars monthly to look a certain way…

    If you can glow up in a night or a week, the results aren’t gonna be sustainable because nothing comes that easy. Building a healthy lifestyle (eating healthy, getting regular exercise and enough sleep, having strong relationships, doing the inner work and therapy, etc) takes TIME. No one wants to hear that but it’s true. Invest in yourself and you will be far more beautiful than any of these sad, insecure influencers spending thousands on treatments that ultimately can’t fix their brokenness.

    I feel like our generation (genz) is VERY focused on shortcuts, more than any other generation. We want the higher paying jobs without school, we want the social media income not 9-5s, we want lipo instead or a gym membership, we want buccal fat removal instead of a better diet and we want veneers instead of less alcohol consumption and whitening or traditional whitening techniques and braces that take time

    The whole food part is hard for me cause I have a small appetite most of the time now or eating a lot and I’ve always been picky if I see food I don’t like I rather starve especially because most of the food that is good for me I absolutely hate the taste.

    this isnt supposed to be shade but how do you spend so much money to only improve your looks by 10 % at most. its such a scam. a good diet, exercise, normal science backed skincare and good sleep will change your life for a fraction of the price and looking better will just be a side effect

    While I agree with cutting heavily processed food out of your diet, the tiktok example isn’t exactly truthful. For one, you will have more inflammation in your face in the morning due to water content, and this gradually goes away throughout the day. Two, I don’t really take tiktok health advice to heart when I see a product placement (the green supplement bag was for sure an undisclosed ad).
