Laurence of Ludlow the wealthy wool merchant, money
lender and builder of Stokesay Castle was one of the wealthiest men of his day in the late 1200s today we tour his legacy this virtually complete mini castle and the nearby church of John the Baptist.

Lonely seamen on long voyages would draw straws for who would anomalously hide in the barrel. There was a small hole in the barrel also 😉👍
