Can you do a winter carp fishing tips video. I have never been too sure of what bait to use or how much pre baiting is required compared to summer fishing etc etc i hear maggots are good in winter just wanted to confirm
A lot of prep, bait and money for very little reward in very cold conditions, I wouldn't go to such lengths for canal roach at that time of year but good vid on joker prep.
how much tackle. . and about £20 o bait for a practice sesh. . i used to be this mad on it . . just a bit of waggler an deck chair in the summer does me now
I was thinking the same..prepare it the night before and transport it in the bucket. I clicked on to see him catching fish not making bloody groundbait!! Ironic that his name is Speed! I was sure that by the time he started fishing the canal would be frozen over again.
All that messing about for a stickleback... My god what happened to getting a bag of ground bait from the tackle shop.... White or dark in a clear bag bit of water in it and starting to fish why has it got to be a chemistry lesson. That's why kids today don't get into it it's got too complicated to be fun. Thanks for taking the time to do your video though I'm not putting it down you obviously know your stuff.
Kids don't get into it huh? Im 14 years old and sponsored by Maver. I'm currently on the England Talent Pathway, with loads of other kids, my age and younger/older. For the Talent Pathway, we have to do this type of fishing. We all enjoy it. This style of fishing is way better than just buying a bag of groundbait, any colour and fishing with it because you have to think about it more. What feed to use and when, what rigs to use in different weather conditions/depths/type of species etc. Also, I would rather have a nice net of small roach, whether that be more or less than 10lb (10lb as an example) than having a net full of carp weighing 60lb. Also, I fish the Junior Nationals which have over 250 kids in. Yes we might not do this type of fishing when we fish the nationals but sometimes we might have to use it.
Sarah Taylor and that's good but if I shown this to my 8 year old son he wouldn't know what to do. And knowing depths and conditions doesn't mean spending 20 minutes sifting through ground bait. I have never fished for carp except maybe through a ledger rod out whilst I float fish to see if it gets anything. All I was saying is that there is no need for this what so ever to catch roach. If there are roach out there you will catch them on as simple little thing as single maggot. No need for all that
shrink123 Listen. I forgot to put this in the last one. I'm not trying to cause an argument This is match fishing. This is how we roll. The aim is to be better than everyone else and be one step ahead. A single maggot does work, but if you are only catching 1 a minute and the person to your left is catching 3 a minute, then you need to change something. This is basically how it has evolved over time. To be better, you need better feed. Pleasure fishing is where you can use a simple maggot, but in a match, you have to be the best and catch the quickest. Its hard to explain. If you did/do match fishing then you would understand where I was coming from.
Sarah Taylor I'm have done match fishing since I was 12 years old that's 17 years worth it do know what and where you are coming from and I respect that you are only 14 and have got in to it but I bet you only started with a rod and a maggot. I don't really want to get into this with a child but what I do know is that if I had to go through all this at a match I just wouldn't do it. Yeah baits need to change and tactics for a match but who in the right mind would take a drill to the banks whether it's for a match or pleasure. I personally have never used 3 different types of ground bait to catch roach. They are the easiest fish to catch if done properly. All you need to do is keep your swim with you and that can be done on any bait you want. If they are feeding and you have got the food you will catch.
Brilliant video, so much useful info in there, lots of tips and great advice :)

How To Make A Simple Thing Over Complicated.
maybe take more tackle next time?
Never go anywhere without a spare battery to your power drill when you go fishing kids
could be a match winner when others are finding it hard going.
my local canal
Rule of fishing try not to scare the fish with for example anything noisy, like say, an electric power drill. Lol.
I use a ground break to put my bank sticks in. So that is why i catch nothing??????????
Where do you plug the drill in?
23 minutes of making groundbait, maybe do it before you go or in a separate video?
