Great extras! India is really getting people’s attention with single malts right now. What an interesting time we live in for quality whisky ❤

Great advice, Ralfy. But a lot of the curry restaurants here in Yorkshire have a policy of not serving any alcohol (although you may bring your own to the table). Your idea of offering it to customers before their meal is served is brilliant. I hope some of the Indian restaurants in this neck of the woods see the profit potential of your suggestion and reverse their policy!

I've been banging about Indian whisky for a few years now and how it's up there with the best of them.
A few have been dismissive about it but the open minded have been converted and are now exploring Indian and international whisky.
It's just quality whisky. Forget the Indian bit, just enjoy it as quality whisky.

Not too long ago, it was my experience, as a German, that Scotch Whiskies WERE INDEED the best whiskies I could get.
However, now I know that the main thing for my personal taste is that it is made in a pot still. Mostly, I enjoy malt. But I do also like the occasional rye or, in the case of some German whiskies, spelt whiskies.
Indian Whiskies are definitely also a way to go. And they do get better, don't they!

What a lovely extras dear Ralfy! An excellent whisky 🥃 for sure, will be on the lookout for it. I also fancy trying my hand at making my own 🍛 dishes with Indian spices, cumin, ginger, garlic and turmeric etc. A nice dram of this afterwards ( I like a nice beer or white wine with my curry meals ) may just be a rich treat! Kindest regards, S.

I’ve tried Rampur Double Cask and was very impressed with it! A little too expensive here in the US. Total Wine is selling Asava at $91 before the sales tax, right around $100 with tax added. Hopefully, will go on sale one day.

I only tried Amrut. I can't get Indri or Rampur in my country. Would love to try them too. Great video. Thanks 🙏

I've had the Amrut Fusion (peated) and liked it enough to get another. Shortly after, I was at a local Indian restaurant and asked for it. They didn't have any Indian whisky at all. Anyway, years later, the Amrut is not available but the Rampur Double Cask is here. I bought one and that was enough. The sherry finish was too strong and sweet for my taste. I think I would be willing to try the Asava Rampur if it shows up here.

I always had my eye on Lagavulin 16 but where I live it's $105. That's way too much for something chill filtered and artificially colored. I'll never understand why a distillery goes to the lengths of waiting 16 years as a whisky ages, then turn around and chill-filter it and add caramel colorant, that's just bastardizing it. My guess is the casks are terrible.

It's difficult to understand why they do it. I like the 16 a lot. But it could be so much better.

I'm lucky in that it's very easy to get Amrut here in Taiwan. It's definitely a 'buy again' whisky. Iove it.

do try the Paul John Edited - one of my favourites - lovely mix of fruity malty and earthy aromas - and solid in the mouth at 46%

Well, although I do sometimes appreciate whisky from around the world (especially Japanese), Scotch whisky is the best whisky worldwide.

Whisky maturation is all about chemistry that has to do with age and climate for the maturation!

perhaps if one considers how the Japanese are acting as an independent bottler of Scotch which with the additional traditional and scientific input plus the islands "chi" in the barrels in the water in the climate
I recently had a simple but DELIGHTFUL Japanese rice whiskey and only 40$ us
to me it's a good first pour

That T in Uttar Pradesh is like the T in path, without the H. The A in Pradesh is not AA like you pronounced it, just half of it -more like the U in bum. The D is not the hard D you used, but the TH in further. Means North State.

I searched on line and found that a 750ml bottle runs all the way from $65.00 to $350.00 US. That is quite the range for the same whiskey!
