To gain the Boost you must use Weed Killer on the engine. Open the hood and you will see two Meters. One is green which is the health and when you add more Weed Killer you will gain the Red meter. There will be an opening and that is where you spray it.

when you know the jumps and routes the truck is actually pretty good, but rng can really screw it over

The Old birds won't come after you while driving in the car, so doing this is not needed on Embrion unless you mainly want to use the jetpack.
