  • Different clubs require shafts with different tip diameters. In this video I explain the differences between each size, and what makes them work with certain club heads.
As always if you have questions please as in the comments section.

I’ve always been confused about tip trimming and the effect it has on flex. Your video cleared this up for me. Thanks so much for a truly helpful video!

Greetings, this measurement is in millimeters, centimeters or how to know, I have a caliper and I don't know if this will help me to know. thank you

Great overview. Mind demonstrating how to properly sand down the tip to work in a tapered hosel? Not sure if I know the "proper" way to do it other than a bunch of trial and (expensive) error.

I REALLY REALLY need help please. I bought a title it’s u510 driving iron #2, and expected to just take the head off my 3 iron and use the shaft. Is it the same tip diameter? The new head is super tight and won’t slide on the shaft in a dry fit. Never run into this and I’m new at this. I may need to drive it on. Just need to know. If it’s the right shaft

What do you recommend for one length iron?
    Mine has a universal hosel.
I've been told get all parallel shafts then butt&tip trim all of them to my desire length.
But companys like Cobra used taper tips shafts for all their one length irons. They only butt trim all shafts to the same length.

I’m not sure if you’ll see this since it’s an older video, but I have a 3 wood graphite shaft that’s not ripped that I was actually hoping to put a 1 iron head on. Is this possible?

I would NOT suggest building that combo.

Hey Ryan, just ran across your video. Great info. I picked up some factory Matrix Ozik Program F15 85/R graphite iron shafts and I'm looking for some info on tip trimming specs. I can't find any tip trimming charts on these shafts anywhere. Wondering if you can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Great channel Ryan. Your knowledge is amazing. I started working in a golf shop as a teenager doing club repair in the late '70s and while I never progressed to a master level I've at least had enough ability to be a decent hobbyist. It's saved me some money over the years for sure. I've refinished dozens of old woods and was always amazed with some of the work of some of the true professionals we had in our area. Talk about works of art. Anyway, keep up the good work!

Hey Ryan, great video. You managed to summarize a lot of information in a short video. You went quickly over a great point about weight sorting as a good option for those without a frequency meter. So many hobbyist club makers will benefit from that advice.

I have a set of project x 6.0 rifled shafts that are .370. I want to fit them into p770’s which are .355. Do you recommend sanding down the shafts or would you recommend reaming out the club head? And if the latter, I know a drill bit isn’t optional but finding a reaming bit of the right size is very hard in ireland haha
    Thanks !!

I only recommend you ream the heads. Sanding down steel will not work the same as doing it with graphite because of the wall thickness.

Great Video Ryan! Loved it. I was hoping you could help me. Wish I could go to you but Im in South America.
I have a Titleist Tmb 3 iron on a Pxi 5.5 standard length, MCC+4. It feels boardy and like I cannot get it to go as fast as I know I can.
Im thinking about the Tour Ad Utility/Driving Iron shaft .355 taper tip.
Will it fit my iron? on which flex and weight would you choose and install it? considering extra weight from a new MCC+4 midsize grip, and trying not to make it too different.

      Hi Fernando,
The Taper Tip Tour Ad shaft should fit, since the the TMB is a taper hosel.
As far as should you use it, I cant recommend anything one way or the other but I would suggest if you can try and see a fitter and find out what works best.
      Thanks for watching the channel

This is way over my head. I don't understand half of what you're saying. I got that shafts are .335 or .350. Someone gave me a putter head from a guy who broke it on purpose and I'm just trying to put a shaft on it. But after removing the insert or whatever the shaft itself is larger than the pin coming out of the putter head and that's where I'm at.
I'm trying to figure out if there is a shim that I can use or do I need to get a putter shaft that fits perfectly. Anyways I'm confused.

    • @ryanbarath1916
      @ryanbarath1916  5 ปีที่แล้ว

You should find a shaft that fits perfect - most likely a .370 tip diameter.
