Just purchased the TWC9, glad you made this video, had the thought of purchasing the atlas guide rod also! Guess i’ll wait and see how the 4.15 works. Also i wish Jacob Grey would make an optic mount for the Acro P2!
Thanks for watching brother. After reading other comments, I’m hearing the 4.15 sticks out just a little but not as much as the Atlas or Dawson Precision. Let’s see if Jacob Grey comes out with a newer model to address these concerns. Thanks again.
Dawson 4.15 tool less guide rod works. Ive shot 500 rounds through it and it works flawlessly. Does stick out a little bit but nowhere near the Atlas guide rod.
Wow good info to know about both the 4.25 tool-less and it also seems like the 4.15 still protrudes based on the comments below. Might want to try for giggles to see about the 4.15 and either grinding/milling out the excess. Wished Jacob Grey offered it from the factory or will probably offer it as an additional accessory in the future.
Yeah. I’m sitting thinking they must be getting some complaints about this so hopefully they will offer it soon. Scott from Skips Gunz can mill it down for me but not sure it’s worth the effort to have it done. I appreciate your feedback my brother. Thank you!!
@@teamblacksmithllc Jacob Grey now offers new tool-less guide rods on their website under accessories. Just ordered one and will install later this weekend.
Yes, it's definitely weird. I didn't want to do a ton of modifications to it, but the Atlas one works pretty well. As I stated, it sticks out a little, but it works. Yes, it's weird, though. Based on your video, it seems like yours was more noticeable.
My man!! Thanks again for the heads up on it. I had to drop this follow up on it. The Dawson Precision stuck out more than the Altas but you’re right just weird period. Why Jacob Grey went this design doesn’t make sense to me. Thanks again my brother. 💯💯💯
I did some talking with Dawson...Not yet. I saw SkipsGuns response and vid. Its either be patient and wait, OR, Its dremel or grinder time. I ordered the JG guide rod over a week ago. I got a update response today that a batch is going to or in the process of being DLC'd. They will ship as soon as they are ready. I know now patience is the answer for me. YMMV. I really have a lot of respect for the pioneers. Oh the hardships we endure. Jacob Grey is showing us its tough decisions and the difficulty of launching into a mature market segment. I am confident and not dissuaded by this. JG is communicating and state they are working at it. Does anyone know if JG is offering their tool less for a flat wire recoil system? Dawson does, Not sure on Atlas, or EGW. The JG is presented to me as a carry. I use flat wire on Wilson, Nighthawk, Les Baer, Dan Wesson, and Springfield.
Good evening Len!! I appreciate the feedback. Good information. I had very little patience not knowing what JG had planned to release an upgrade so soon. I absolutely love my TWC9 and most likely will get their guide rod and hold on to the Dawson and Atlas guide rods for a rainy day. I haven’t heard anything yet in the flat wire recoil system. I have in my Legion Precision though. Thanks again for taking the time to post your comment.
@@teamblacksmithllc Hi, An Update.... I received my Jacob Grey one piece guide rod. Looking at this vid again after installing. It fits great and is properly flush with the end of the barrel. My initial impression is field strip technique is required. In the vid you show one method. Another method, on a one piece guide rod with paperclip/tool, is to remove tension off the recoil spring before disassembly. Containing the recoil spring/guide rod as a unit. Did I tell you I like to learn new things. 😀 I'm learning about the method you're showing. One thing is clear it is much better than using a two piece guide rod for field strip. This is a new wrinkle for me compared to my other 1911's. The no tension method for me takes any torque out during reassembly. Nobody wants that famous Idiot Scratch. Now I wonder how much JG is gonna sell the new Black Trigger for?🤔 Got to have it the way I want it. 😀 Thank you for the information here. It has been quite helpful.
I think JG did a great job with the aesthetics of the Slide, I would like to see a more aggressive stippled version for people who don't intend to CCW. P.S nice watch, way too floss without trying too ;)
Good morning my brother. I agree. I’m waiting to see if they will be bringing out a newer version with these changes. Especially the stippled grip for better options for others. Thanks for noticing the floss though 😎 LOL. Thanks for watching.
Wow glad to know that before buying one. I have a unrelated question about your prodigy project 2, I wonder if the Underworld Comp burns ALL coatings off the end of the slide like it did to yours. Mine comes tomorrow and after seeing your video I am not so sure about it. Once you do it there would be no going back unless you recoated your slide.
@@arnoldchristian5874 you are welcome sir. I only tried it on the Prodigy Project 2 and would not recommend using it on the Iron Monkey plating finish. I am waiting for the Underworld Comp 4.25in for the Prodigy to do further testing. Sorry I could not provide any additional information about this product issue at this time. Thanks for watching.
That’s a bummer. I was interested in this gun but my enthusiasm dampened a bit when I found out the trigger/sear parts are all MIM. Maybe I’ll just buy another Atlas 🤔 Or wait for the California roster to die so that there’s access to other interesting guns. BTW - The TWC Black has a tooless guide rod maybe it’ll fit your gun.
Good morning James. It was disappointing. In my opinion, all 4.25” barrels all should have a standard length guide rod. I don’t realize that there were MIM parts😳😳. For the price point, unacceptable. It’s still shoots pretty well though. I ordered the new guide rod from them the other day. Another Atlas is always a great investment. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks for watching.
Great detective work! Curious to know if your dot overhangs the ejection port at all and if yes has it been deflecting shells and scratching glass? Thanks for all you do!!!
