Hello jster great restoration I my self restored a atlas 7 B shaper a lot of trial and errors in the restoration. But had fun doing it . Just what wanted to tell you I'm in a atlas shaper group on Facebook if you like to join a lot of great guys in the group. The page. I atlas shaper I'm. One of the group leaders if you like join your videos will help many more people.
Thank you so much! There was SO MUCH trial and error. I would love to take a look at that Facebook group. I'm not very savvy on how to do that. If my video may help someone, I'm all for that. I wish I had some help. Thank you again and I will try to find your Facebook page.....
I'm not much of a painter, I striped mine and just left it bear metal. I gess being in the USAF, I just got tired of painting. Fresh out of baseic ( 6 weeks ) bypass test for auto repair got me a derect duity assienment, to Spokane Wa, Giger Feld, the Air Gard where host and they flue the F101.We where there for turn around of the F106. That didn't last long, the Gard all ready had the BOOM Wite whit a green band around it. more later
I had to paint rocks in pilot training. They had rocks around the squadron, and we had to paint them. YIKES! I must have forgotten the pain, LOL. And thank you very much.....
Thank you so much! It was RotarySMP that talked me into sharing my aviation stories. I'm glad I took his advice and I'm glad it's interesting to other guys. And thank you again.....
Must have been filmed some time ago. It sure looked awful warm. That is unless you don’t live up north anymore. I’m in Southern Illinois freezing my rear off. You’ll be making chips in no time.
Believe it or not, this was restored over a 2-year period. I'm still in IL and it's FREEZING! I had to do what I could between other projects. I just decided to only post the videos when I was about 90% done. That way I would not feel pressure to try to work on it just for a video. It's done. Next Friday I plan to show it together. And thank you so much.....
Thank you so much! It was a bad INS (Inertial Navigation System). Most of the time you would see 0 or 1 at the end of a sortie. This jet showed 48! I have NEVER seen one that far off. They probably just replaced the entire system. That system was our life's blood! You would never fly without it because so many things were tied to it. And thanks again.....
Jester, next time you want to use WD40 and Scotchbrite, try Rubbing alcohol and Scotchbrite. You will be surprised how well it removes the surface rust and it cleans up easier.

Great job JSTER1963, did you have to do anything to clean up the work surfaces? Have a great day!
Thank you so much! I only had to use WD40 and Scotch bright. It was in pretty good condition. Thanks again....

Of course you paint the bottom ! Only deranged maniacs would not paint it … 😉
So true! And I don't paint over grease and dirt either! And thank you very much....
