Awesome assembly and story. I was a kid at Reese in 86. Lived in the baraks till dad got a house on base. All of housing and most of the base has been reverted to nature and a public airfield now.
1986 is when I got there! We were there at the same time, WOW! I guess you are used to noise all the time, LOL. I heard it was a public airfield now and that makes me feel old. And thank you so much.....
I’m a retired Army flying crew chief on Huey and UH60 helicopters. I have been watching your channel for quite a while. I have enjoyed watching you disassemble and reassemble your Atlas Lathe and other pieces of equipment on journey to journeyman. I have done the same thing with Atlis 101 sold by Sears, Roebuck that I have too totally disassembled cleaned and painted and re-assembled. I am now in the process of trying to learn how to use it never used one before. I enjoy all your information about your flying with the Air Force and commercial airlines.looking forward to the next adventure. Barrie UH60crew retired
We trusted our lives to our crew chiefs! I like how the Army let you fly. That means you had "skin" in the game of making it flyable, LOL! Your Craftsman 101 is almost identical to my Atlas 618. I still love mine and I hope you love yours. You just have to play with it a while and you'll have it. And thank you so much for the kind words......
I think it is cool that you didn't replace the planks. They did come up well. I like your Bumper bracket story. Okay, I like all the stories! Brilliant episode!!
LOL! Thank you so much! I was such a naive dude. The design department at GM has tons of small design teams. Many times they are designing a part for a new car that can use the same parts from an older design. Like the bumper bracket from this year they will try to use next year, etc. I did learn a lot at GM. It was an awesome experience for a college kid. And thank you again....
Your making progress with this project. Thank you for sharing the story, we’ll all be waiting in anticipation for the continuation of the rest of the story. Have a great day!
Absolutely enjoy all of your videos, your story about becoming a pilot is excellent, can't wait for part two. Looks like your going to have a nice planer when your done, it's looking great so far. I've restored a few machines myself and feel your trials and tribulations with figuring out what is right and what's not. Also, overcoming others that have taken short cuts repairing a machine over it's life can be a struggle but you're getting there. Now hurry up with the second part... Please? 🙂
LOL! I will try my best to get part 2 out soon. And you are so right about overcoming others short cuts on these older machines. I understand they need to have it working to make money, but I like things done right. The hardest part for me in the restoration is the adjustment phase. That's a weak point for me. I'm working on that phase right now. Wish me luck. And thank you so much for the kind words.....
Am back, so have you checked out part # S7-19, mine had about 1/6 wair, I brazed it and mill it flat. "O" where was I, from Spokane I went to Walla Walla, long befor I got there they had 2 F106 on alert loaded with the big Boom, wite with a green band a round them, How I got to know this I drove the O11A, had a brids eye to watch . I spent 2 years there, befor leveing Spokane a gared member told me there' a woman be hind every tree,
But there's only 1 tree, LOL. I didn't check S7-19, but it went in smooth and tight, so I think it's ok. I hope you never had to use the O11A for real! I've set alert in Korea, but not with special weapons loaded. Ps. I'm trying to have the next video up tomorrow. The shaper came out great!
