To other commenters, there's ONLY a mount in the way on the V6. If you have the V6, you will have to deal with this. It will be an engine mount on the passenger side or a transmission mount on the driver's side, depending which side you're changing. If you have the 2.4L 4cyl, no mount will be in the way and you can easily remove like in the video. Just scoop up a repair manual to reference in addition to these videos, it's extremely helpful.

If you have a G6 V6 or a G6 GXP do not hammer the bolts through the control arm unless you have extra bolts. These flanged grade 5.5 bolts are getting harder to find and you will for sure strip the threads using a hammer.

    Greeat video absolutely loved it!
    Recommendation for driver side
Transmission mount will be in your way! 2 options ahead of time for driver side. Option 1: drop the transmission mount just enough before taking the driver side control arm off then take it out just make sure its not hitting the rubber mount and no you cannot go around the hole the bolt needs to go through the hole but enough where its not hitting option 2 (involves not spereating the mount): soak the bolt closest to mount in PB blaster thennstick a screw driver in the opposite end and hit it with a screw driver to back it out enough

Would the symptom of a bad control arm be a clunking sound coming from under the hood ?

Be sure to remove the covers to get to all the bolts.
Also, on a 2008 G6, you have to jack up the motor to raise the motor mount out of the way so you can have enough room to pull out one of the bolts all the way.

I love the videos that you all do but its never the hard things that actually happen.....like the motor mounts in the way. This just might set someone up to get started and stuck if they dont have a lot of experience

How would you get the motor moutn in the way?
Thanks for commenting. Thinking about doing this myself to save money, but I'm not very experienced.

Now the question is, will the shop do this correctly, or should I just do it myself?

Why would they need to be changed to begin with? Do the bushings wear out? What are the symptoms?
    Thanks in advance

If the ball joint goes bad the entire control arm must be replaced.

The bushings are a common wear item as well as the ball joint. The bushing can be replaced separately, but it really isn't much more and requires the same amount of work to change the whole control arm.

You have to replace the whole lower control arm just for the ball joint
