Lightning's quote gives me chills. It's not only inspirational, it is badass.
After countless battles with machines, pokemon-esque monsters, behemoths, and an evil primarch, you go on to face a clock. I find that pretty hilarious
Considering you’re literally on the clock, I find it fitting.
A nihilistic, suicidal clock, to boot.
And time consuming
The irony of the whole thing is what the previous A V said, you're on the clock both in this fight and throughout the game with their focus lol. They fight to live and Orpan seeks to die.
@GundamGames interesting
I always thought that Orphan has a pretty cool design, the faces on the left and right at his first form seems to represent his "parents" and he loses them at the second form, effectively making him an "orphan"
"We live to make the impossible possible! That is our Focus!"
~Lightning
that was very inspiring
That's also a gurren laggan quote too
“Actually, our focus is to become Ragnarok and destroy Cocoon”
~Sazh
I love Sazh's sigh right before the battle begins, has a mix of "Aw shit, here we go again" and "I'm getting too old for this shit" haha
"Find your own road to hell!" Awesome. Simply awesome
'Find your own road to Hell!'Love that line!
"Find your own road to hell!"
Honestly Orphan looks like something that comes out of a childrens show or storybook
we live to make the impossible possible... the possimpible
My favorite line in the game is when Lightning shouts, "We live to make the impossible possible! That is our Focus!"
Orphan: Hey, y'all should kill me so I can get the apocalypse going.
Lightning: No way! Cocoon is our home, and we'll kill you to defend it! That is our focus!
Orphan: ... m'kay.
Yeah I just finished this game first time and felt like I followed the plot and lore right up until Orphan appears and we go kill him anyway despite that being what we’ve been trying to avoid for like the last 10 hours and what the bad guys want.
@@frozenflame5858 I think the idea was kill him but after that stop the destruction, but is very bad executed anyway
@@supers0635 apparently they just want to kill only barthandelus but orphan literally awoken just after barthandelus died so they have to fight it too.
"YOU OVERREACH YOURSELVES"
"no, we overreach you"
"IS THAT SO?"
"yeah. how about we kick you out of your cradle?"
"I'LL KILL YOU FOR THAT! I AM NO DEFENSELESS BABY! I... AM... ORPHAN!!!"
*Orphan casts Doom*
Wat
cameraREDeye shut up caius -_-
I'm final fantasy addict and fanatic. I didnt play final fantasy 10 and above but I think I'm gonna love this 13
If I could improve this final scene, I’d add one scene: one where Orphan looks on the monitors and learning that while he was busy with the l’Cie, their allies that they made along their journey were evacuating Cocoon’s citizens to safety, thus ruining the fal’Cie’s plans ahead of time. The whole point of Cocoon’s destruction was to kill a massive population of people in order to force open the gate to the afterlife, but that can’t happen with an empty Cocoon, thus Orphan’s death would no longer carry with it the caveat of mass genocide, leaving our heroes to slay it guilt free.
That would've helped because otherwise I felt like I was doing exactly what it wanted as the player and destroying the world by killing the final boss. It didn't really make sense. That's the thing the game had so many great ideas but they made so many mistakes executing them.
@@sunnyshine762 even a brief conversation like "what do we do if Orphan also wants to die" at some point would have made things clearer. Given Orphan *was* in on Barthandelus's plan, either they killed him and tried to save Cocoon anyway, or someone else would have at a later date.
That pre-battle speech was pretty kick-ass, I must say.
there's a pointless fanwar going on in the comments section, don't try to read them all or else you'll get eye cancer, just mind your own business.
Ty for the heads up ;)
adarkerlink Yes, I sure needed that.
Though I... kinda peeked a bit :P
cameraREDeye It's hard to resist... XD
c huff i have to admit i couldn´t resist scrolling down, but the deeper you go, the creepier it gets XD
adarkerlink XDDD!
@banglefaar You know, I've played FF since the beginning, and I think this game had some of the best developed and least clichéd characters of the series. In fact, this game was all about character development. The game is split amongst the characters so that each of them never gets lost in the greater story. There's many, many scenes fleshing out each character in turn as well as exploring their relationship with the other characters. I also think it's the only RPG I've played (continued)
I didnt even know she says "Find your own road to hell" WOW!!!! LETS FUCKING GO LIGHTNING!
eyaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH
I see Orphan as just like Yu Yevon. An entity that uses something else for its protection and it isn't supposed to be challenging when that protection is removed.
god, i love the music on this game. so amazing!
Lightning's speech is awesome. It just is.
Lightning: Ready Orphan? Kick the baby!
Orphan: Don't kick the baby...
Its such a cute final boss!
With such cute boss music too!
the music makes it really dramatic and might be the best final boss music
I like how in battle, you use these fantastical magical powers. But in cutscenes, you have to believe that they'll actually use regular-ass guns, a stick, a boomerang, a fishing rod, a gun-sword, and bare fucking knuckles to fight a damn god.
Man you guys are entertaining me so much I can't help but laugh.
“Find your own road to hell!”
After 11 total years, who knows how many playthroughs of constantly resetting after I would lose the game and get it back again,
Trial
Error
A whole LOT of the two
And the latest save file of 49 hours
After 11 total years
I finally beat the game that is Final Fantasy 13
And I must say it was one of the most heartfelt experiences I've felt in a grand while.
This game may be hated by a good margin, but it will always have a special place in my heart.
I would love to have this fella as a wall ornament for my house.
Great strategy bro! I followed the same paradigms that you had and was able to beat Orphan in 1:14! Really appreciate the help! :D
This fight isn't supposed to be hard. You had hard enough fights just getting through Orphan's Cradle, fighting Barthandelus and fighting the two of them fused together. That was the true final boss. This fight is just to show how far the party's come, and that now they're an indomitable fighting team. After all, it comes right after they all will themselves back from being Cie'th, what could be more badass than that?
@registareumamerda Yes. In the Narthex (the white corridor where you start again) is a portal where you can go back to Eden and from there you can take different portals that spawned there earlier. There's 1 back to the Narthex, 1 which takes you close to the entrance of Eden (where you fought the silverhaired guy and his machine) and the last teleports you back to Gran Pulse (For Cieth Stones and Titan trial). For defeating Orphan you're granted full access to the last parts of the Crystarium.
The beginning cutscene gave me chills... :P
"Find your own road to helll" I love that quote and lightnight other quoute "I'm no ones slave"!
'We live to make the impossible possible, that is our focus'
'REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE'
Orphan is so badass in this form. He's such a demented child.
The funny thing about this game is the way the protags act like they're achieving anything other than giving the falsee exactly what they wanted all along
I see Oprhan's scream and grin + the culminating intro is the most watched parts :D
This fight introduction is perfect. I didn't like the fight but I kept replaying it again and again just because of the intro and the music.
this game revolves around strategy so much, which I'm actually really good at, BUT IN THE TIME IT TAKES ME TO SWITCH PARADIGMS, HE'S ALREADY KILLED ME. THAT LITTLE ANIMATION HAS MADE ME LOSE SO MANY BATTLES.
"This game revolves around strategy so much" I can't believe you typed that with a straight face.
Well he's not wrong. Try fighting a superboss in XIII without a battle plan. =p
Orpan passed gas at 1:28. I can tell because he/she/it screamed then smiled. You don't smile after a scream like that unless it's gas.
@Dtram10 I thought of it kinda as beating the inner core, the "true" part of Orphan. The Orphan you fight before is his protective shell, the part that puts up a real fight. You can see him between the light/dark parts on the first form.
How come this year's graphics were way better than the ones in Lightning Returns? Awesome facial expressions in this one...
There's a gap between in-game graphics and cutscene graphics in the FFXIII trilogy. Really, the graphics didn't change at all, it's just that Lightning Returns has less actual cutscenes.
The Dragon Scrublord This cutscene is actually real-time rendered, it's not like it is CGI. I think the did lower the polygons making each model in XIII-2 and reduced the quality of textures in LR (c'mon, Luxerion's textures were worse than XII's textures).
Find your own road to hell!
Even though the battle wasn't too tough, it was still pretty epic. The music (from 1:36 to about 2:11 is my favorite part) is just perfect!!! I love Orphan's design too. He's all pretty and gold!! hahaha. I do wish Orphan put up more of a fight, but by the time I got to this battle I was pretty tired lol. The first form took a lot out of me XD
That has to be one of the fiercest final boss spankings since 4 fully equpped Lv99 Onion knights against the Cloud of Darkness.
@TangibleNought In that sort of silver area before orphan, there is a portal at the back, you will be sent back to the entrance. At the back of the entrance, there is a portal to gran pulse :)
I used this exact party when I fought Orphan.
@IsaacTeranIceSage I know, right? "We live to make the impossible possible! That is our Focus!"
@Runeless yes, Bird and Barnaculus fused with Orphan :)
The music in this game was beautifully done. Its good to take a break from Nobuo.
@gamingfreak48 Not necessarily. Depends if you define the final boss as the last enemy you fight in the game or the last major gameplay challenge. One of the more effective interactive storytelling elements in games is to make the player feel powerful after overcoming a particular obstacle. Here, Square makes you feel powerful by having you curbstomp a minor god after managing to defeat it earlier. It's like the end of DMC3 and 4 where you get to slaughter demons in the credits.
1:02 - 1:28
Epicness in it's purest form!
@banglefaar but in the actual battles themselves, and in the party make-up you choose. This is why many say the game doesn't get good until the end, because most of the game is setting up the nuances of the battle system. By the end you have full freedom to decide the party to take into battles, and what party make-up you need to use to survive specific situations in battles. Trying to figure out how to take on the hard enemies is very fun, and more challenging than most FF's
@Celzia " I'll never be just a memory."
I went about this phase so incorrectly. Took me freaking forever to beat him.
@Waveking95 Your Crystarium is Lv9 by the time you first fight Orphan, and goes up to Lv10 when you beat him. If you load your save after the game's over, you start just before the point of no return, with the Lv10 bonus and the chance to get 100% completion
the countdown is going to kill me so much...
@JohnMurrill it is thats the actual orphan and by the way some people didnt think it was so easy
It almost sounded like Lightning said thanks when Orphan cast Doom on her. You're welcome!
@Celzia (2) Furthermore, as I have said on many videos on my page, this is proven while playing any of the newer games. The characters go from looking like the actual characters designed by Tetsuya Nomura and suddenly transform into Japanese counterparts that act and look different from the in game characters. This is most notable on characters like Tidus, Rikku and Genesis (to name a few).
I do not know what Square expects us to believe with this...
@JohnMurrill the actuall orphan boss fight has the best music its called nascrueim requim its really dramatic
@banglefaar where the characters react naturally to the situation they find themselves in. There's no cheery "we're off to save the world", but in-fighting, confusion, and every man for themselves. As for the actual mechanics: the game is so linear to place the focus on the story. The game is very much about following these specific characters through specific situations, not traversing the world. Also, the strategy isn't about where you place your stats like other RPGs (continued)
1:22 - ROW! ROW! FIGHT THE POWAH!
holy shit you just brought back bad memories.
Ah the ending lightning speech cheese. So good.
can i ask a question because i beat this boss and saved the game so when you load the game you go back to orphan right? well if i start a new game will i have all the things i have or will it just be new game because im kind of confused atfer hearing a lot of people say New game+ to get their health 10000+ which is crazy =] but im confused also if you do start over do your crystarium lvl max what mean is all the way to 10 and work your way up or do i have to face bosses to unlock them again?
That is our focus!!!
Orphan: Oh did he now well how about him?
(Heart of Chaos starts playing)
Caius: Now let us decide the true history false angel!
I always think "fuck this game".
but every time i see this boss, or just some kind of area, it makes me want to give it another try.
This game really does push you. Setup this, change to that, watch for this, target that, PARADIGM CHANGE-SHING SHING SHING oh no you died. it's all so discouraging until something reignites that spark to get you playing again.
if you can make it all the way to the map before the room leading to Barthandulus form 3 and both Orphan forms there are three groups of enemies. Ignore the one with the Wlaudslash or whatever and the templer and fight the Jabberwocky and whatever the partner is. and then to the right fight the Wlaudslash. fight both groups and go to the save point and go up the teleporter to the left and repeat. 32000 CP per 6min less battle. this is also the map before and after Tiamat Eliminator
Geez, no wonder that thing was made an orphan. A face that not even a mother could love.
I digress. I thoroughly enjoyed XIII. It may not be the best in the series, but I did put several dedicated hours into it.
You can turn battle speed to slow in settings until you get the hang of things
i never truly learned how to play this game until this battle. I always thought the sabatour role was so useless until this battle. then it was like after 8 failures and switching my ace team to light, hope and vanielle. which wasn't recommended for some reason but I managed to beat it a lot faster like instead of 30 mins of waiting for my gestalt meter to fill up so I can revice my mates I did the whole battle in 5 min. never got my five stars though. I also did the same thing with xiii 2
@xHellSpawnx1
im using fang, lightning and hope (for haste)
where can i get the stuff you mentioned? in the shop? got like 250k gil atm
@DrolKeegEht True, thanks for reminding me. Minato taking repeated bitch-slaps from Death itself is quite badass.
Easiest last final fantasy boss. But hey the real action starts after you beat this thing.
Saul Alvarenga
Yu Yevon.
@FireRagnarok I don't know about any other bosses, but an ophan is a wheel-like angel [the plural is ophanim, like cherubim and seraphim]. So maybe calling this boss "Orphan" was actually a mistake on the translators' part.
It is a possibility and an interesting way to look at it, although I wouldn't take it as what is actually going on. I mean, I kinda see Yuy Yevon as a allegory for Jesus, but that doesn't mean that is necessarily what was intended.
"You overreach yourselves."
"No... In soviet Russia, we overreach YOU."
You know Lightning’s speech was nothing but facts considering how mad Orphan got lollll
I really wish they just didn't make 13-2 and 13-3, but hell, it retroactively made me think better of 13 so I guess there's that... and now we're finally getting 15 and 7 remake...
@thunderblast234 it's not just a clock, it's a freaking living battery that powers whole planet lol
well, as far i could tell there are 3 forms. which is the hardest? just wonder if i would stand a chance against the third form if i would be lucky enough to get pass the second form where i'm currently stuck a after realizing that i have way too less hp (got 6-8k hp each and when he does this judgement spell i get one-hitted). any tipps?
@PK4I1F3 are you buffing up? haste and all that stuff?
Thanx for Upload... Actually i wanna buy PS3 to try out but wasted because of playing tis game onli so i watch those video enough... u pretty pro...
"find your own road to hell" HAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SAVAGE LMAO
@ElectricPyroclast perhaps he had the gold clocks which makes the target time higher
@jsh020 Necron from IX was a nightmare without status effect defenses applied. I'd say he was fairly simple. Vayne from XII was also no pushover in the Undying phase. Of course...I am speaking from a perspective of not maxing out your characters.
At max lvl I think every final boss is simple in a Final Fantasy.
*Looks at Orphan*
"...Hey guys, its 8:00 according to Orphan. We better hurry before I miss House -_-"
@akasuki123oiiu You can get couple slots from Crystarium. And one when you get Eidolon and one when you get best weapon.
What does the time mean above Lightings head? Sorry, haven't played this game yet...
Not if you don't manage to kill him in one stagger... If he Fog/Pains you out of nowhere (like what happened here) and your buffs start fading and you can't kill him, he uses this move which removes all your buffs and puts 4 on him. (bravery faith haste and veil I think) he really deters you...
@omnimon64 Though, MasterLL probably did some training in the Archylte Steppe to boost his stats through missions. Normally, you aren't strong enough to even get close to five stars on the first runthrough.
1:30 sound of being verbally owned :p
(10 years later) when you fall for a Ligma joke
Orphan needs a 30 second long super-attack while this music plays..
@loser5951 I don't feel like looking it up and finding the name and mission but you have a beat a certain mission that gives you an accessory that gives you the ability to do that.
im recently starting the game with Snow, Lighting, and Hope.
very powerful characters
