I've been following them since the late 60's and their top hit "Fence Walk" which helped inspired me to become a drummer back in the day. They didn't get the recognition which they are due.

I found out about Mandrill in the early 200'0's when I was on a quest to find some great funk music. I am from Long Island but found them on a jukebox in Annapolis Maryland of all places. I saw them in 2004 at the Prospect Park bandshell. My brother and I , two white boys from the suburbs dancing around , surely stuck out like a sore thumb. My all time favorite funk band and this is a beautiful example of writing , harmony and grace woven together as a tribute to a lost matriarch of their family. No better eulogy I've ever heard. Grandpa had a sendoff only fairy tales are made of.

I was a 14year old runaway when I first heard this song and it really lifted my spirits and I actually felt all alone at that time. My surrogate father took me in and I was surprised that he did and I felt for the first time since my grandmother bought me to Philadelphia a father's love and became his first son godfather. He taught me a lot and made sure that I went to school. I felt the need to go further at seventeen and then my father got saved and stopped drinking and we both made amends afterwards I enlisted in the United States army and I am his only son who actually followed his foot steps as he was a veteran who caught in the Korean war which made extremely proud of me and three years later he passed away on my shoulder from a massive heart attack.😢. At least I had my father for three years and I was and still is greatful . I miss you DAD and dedicate this song to YOO❤.

Wow, this song was just what I need about now, I was just 14 or 13 when it came out and it reminds me of my grandfather. The wisdom that he gave me, the problem was I was just too stupid to understand. I loved that man and now I can understand more of what he was saying. Great song.

I remember this song I was introduced to it by my brother, sitting back on my bed smoking out.Played this song 10 times straight. I think the lead singer folklore voice drew me in. The musical arrangement was amazing too. One of my all time favorite.
