I understand your frustrations. I've been studying Korean for 5 years now and I'm moving at such a slow pace.. I do make great progress but whenever i see how people who started after me are already fluent i get a little frustrated. I also struggle with vocabulary the most as the grammar seems a bit easier for me. Listening to korean conversations also frustrate me because theyre so fast and native speakers are swallowing half of the words haha its giving me the impression that i will never be able to speak and understand the language. I love your podcast by the way, i practice reading and speaking with you and im very thankful for your hard work. 감사합니다 선생님! 한국어를 쉽지 않지만 포기 안 할 게요 (:
Hiii! I have just started studying Korean and I find it quite difficult.. I think you've done well to keep learning it these past five years even though you struggle a bit. It's encouraging for me so thank you! I hope that you may become fluent in Korean soon! I'll keep trying too. 화이팅!
@@koikoipeach It's quite the journey but I hope it will be a very fun one for you even though it can seem to be a bit daunting at times (: wishing you lots of success too 화이팅!!
sometimes if you notice barely any progress, it could be the methods you are using to learn korean. try something that you either havent tried yet, or test different study methods. compare your current knowledge to what you knew in the beginning. you have come far. dont lose hope just bc you feel behind. people learn in different ways, you just need to find what works for you.
Whatever you do, don't compare yourself to others. I did that when learning French and it just psyched me out. I never really progressed past an upper-intermediate level because I was too intimidated by other people
Comparison is the thief of joy. You don't live the same life as anyone. Make a very small goal like "learn 5 new verbs, 10 new nouns in X amount of time". Make a bit more difficult goal, like "ability to make X amount of sentences using this grammar concept in past, future, present tense and different formality level". Make longer term goals. Make a list of words you know. You also need to give yourself tangible proof that you are progressing. It really helps mentally. This is what I do with vocab: Put a red dot next to a word when it's new but you've read the meaning, orange when you can recognize it and its meaning when you read them, yellow when you can recognize them spoken, green when you can spell them and do the preceding levels, blue when you can use them in 3 or more conjugations on top of the other accomplishments. Update the list every couple weeks. Seeing the colors grow is rewarding
Thanks a lot for the video! ^_^ This is the second podcast I watched from you, and I was really hooked both times, I think because you're telling us a lot about yourself, while many other podcasts for learners of Korean I found on TH-cam sound kind of impersonal and vague, treating a theme only for what it is: an excuse for listening practice. But since you're talking about things that matters or mattered to you at some point, it engaged me naturally. I guess a work of fiction would work the same way too: as long as it's about someone living and sharing something, it has potential to be interesting... Anyway, thanks again and keep it up! ^_^
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate your comment on how you liked my stories. It encouraged me a lot! I totally agree with you. I believe that any words can be learned and remembered easily if they carry personal meanings and are based on the feelings and thoughts that accompanied the relevant experience. I would like to share the emotions that brought about certain thoughts in myself in Korean and share those whole experiences with my audiences. Thank you again for your support and I will keep sharing many more useful and interesting stories and content! 진심으로 감사합니다! 🙇🏻♀️😁🙏🏼❤️
