  • $380 Buying Best Dewalt Air Compressor DXCM601 60 Gallon - Break In Procedure Reviews Installation - Best shop compressor for the money.
    I finally upgraded my compressor. I got this for $380 on sale from $559 and could not resist. I would of preferred a 120 volt unit but this thing will be awesome for my plasma cutter.
    Specs from TSC Website
    The DEWALT Stationary Belt Drive Air Compressor is proudly made in the USA and features a 3.7 HP heavy duty induction motor with an oil lubricated, belt driven, cast iron, in-line twin cylinder pump that delivers 155 Max PSI, 13.4 SCFM at 40 PSI and 11.5 SCFM at 90 PSI. The motor is wired for 240 volts and must be wired by a certified electrician (consult the National Electrical Code and local codes before wiring). This compressor is perfect for the home/farm shop and will operate a wide variety of pneumatic tools for automotive and agricultural applications as well as your DIY projects around the home (All pneumatic tools operate at various SCFM. Consult the operator's manual for your tool for the required SCFM for the tool to operate.). The compressor is shipped with synthetic oil for optimum performance and long life.
    Solid cast iron, oil lubricated, twin cylinder pump with aluminum head to dissipate heat
    155 PSI max pressure allows the user optimum tool performance.
    Heavy duty 3.7HP induction motor for long life
    ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) code tank meets all safety standards
    12inch balanced fly wheel with durable wire belt guard

    The successor (DXCM602) is $1100 at Home Depot as of October 2022, and sadly as others have pointed out, the USA sticker doesn’t always mean much these days.

    I turned my pressure down to 130 psi,, it cut my tank fill time down almost 2 minutes,, will extend pump life and I will never need more then 130 psi,,,and I put a 1/2 roll of copper tubing between the compressor pump and tank drops my temperature by 70 degrees and eliminated the water forming in tank that comes the 200 degrees air entering the cooler tank causing condensation. I've found it the best setup I've seen..l have drops with drains but hardly ever get any water in them since doing the tubing..

    • @cutweldngrind
      @cutweldngrind  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never thought about dropping the pressure down. I only run my plasma cutter on my compressor and one works at 40 psi and the other at 80 psi. I bought a cooler for my older 30 gallon unit and would be a good addition to any compressor. I currently run a 50' hose to a water separator to let the air cool down but the way you mentioned is more efficient. I may try dropping the pressure this week and checking into adding a coil of copper,. What length is the coil you used 20', 50'. Thanks for the tips.

      @@cutweldngrind 25 foot,, 1/2 inch and put a water separator just before it enters the tank,, really makes a difference,,as with lowering the amount of pressure your pump has to pump,, 20 psi can save to years of wear on your motor and compressor.

    What kind of Oil did you use to break that DeWalt in? I used air tool oil drained 2 times at 17min mark flush, fill, and repeated then I flushed the reservoir on our air compressor until it was clean of oil. Then I filled it up with 5W30 Full synthetic motor oil and 150 hour+ later it's still looking clean and running smoothly. Thanks for sharing.

      Edward Violet Tractor supply has these compressors. I just got one yesterday for $834.00 out the door. TSC was asking $899.99 for it but l saw 3 drops of oil under the compressor pump, l looked to see where it was comming from but l saw no oil leak on pump anywhere else. TSC had only that one and my 3 hp. Ingersol Rand comp. doesn't put out enough air for my use, l decided to chance it and l showed the mgr. the oil. She said Dewalt in putting oil had spilled drops on it. She said if l wanted it she would give me a $50.00 discount and if it leaked anymore to take it back and they would refund money or order me another one. When all the paper receipt was done the total was $834. incl. taxes. I was discounted more than $50! I think it was more than $100. So far l haven't seen any more oil leak. My Ingersol Rand , 13 yrs. Old still works great. But l should have gotten the 5 hp. as at the time they the 3 hp cost $499 and the 5 hp was only $100 more. The Dewalt should be an awsome compressor. Thank you Lord.

      I have only used my plasma cutter, paint sprayer and a bedliner sprayer. I think it's a great deal especially when on sale. It's less noisy than my Husky 30 gallon but haven't compared to other more expensive units that claim to be very quiet.
      You will need a regulator as they dont come with one but Ebay has some good deals on 1/2npt inlet/ outlet ones.
      Issues I had was the belt and large pulley fell off. Easy fix apply thread lock and check over bolts.
      If you have any other question let me know.

    What weight oil do you use in the compressor motor?

    It's not made in the usa.. All parts are manufactured in china. Then it is assembled in the u s a so they claim it's usa. I had it for 8 months worked perfect.. Then The belt kept coming off after two months. The motor stopped working after eight months. Belt replacement is extremely hard there is no part number. So you have to go out and find one. They did not honor any Warranty

      Maybe the sticker is made in the USA lol. I had my belt come off due to loose bolt and been working fine since. I went to Tractor supply and was shocked with todays current price.

    My husband has one like the video and the tank on his gets very hot to the touch. Do you have any idea why?

    • @cutweldngrind
      @cutweldngrind  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not be sure unless it's running for extremely long period. I use my compressor for the plasma cutter but my compressor dont run to long. The tank will get warm but not hot.

    Those plugs are awful if you need to use them on occasion. Mine disintegrated after like 10 uses.

      My compressor has been doing ok since purchased. I did replace the drain and had the pulley come off one day. I do use the compressor often and so far so good. I suggest checking bolts and screws often.

    13.4 SCFM at 40 PSI and 11.5 SCFM at 90 PS is not CFM that tools are rated at. You are not getting even close to that flow rate at the tool it self. SCFM is the rate at witch the air is compressed into the tank. The CMF at the tool is massivley lower. Check this video out. th-cam.com/video/cfjSm_ieRkE/w-d-xo.html your ratings could actually be down to 4.5 to 6.5 area.

      @@cutweldngrind SCFM in my heyday work as auto body repairman was called Service Cubic Feet (air output per) Minute. It is the actual air output you are using as you work. It's the actual way of finding the correct compressor for your needs. Some air tools require more air than others to operate efficiently. One shouldn't go by just CFM only , cause it's allways higher than what you will actually get. Nowadays the S is sometimes called Standered.

    NO WAY YOU CAN GET A BRAND NEW 60 GALLON DEWALT COMPRESSOR. THEY START AT $699 AND $899 AND WAY HIGHER AT Home Depot. BUT OF COURSE YOU WANT PEOPLE TO WATCH THIS VIDEO SO YOU CAN MAKE MONEY FROM TH-cam. SO A FULLY UNDERSTAND YOUR TRUE MOTIVE TO POSTING $380 DEWALT COMPRESSOR.

    What kinda Twilight Zone are YOU people in? I see in quite a few comments where they got this same air compressor for $630 bucks..... or the OP got his on sale for $380..... And @lindaferrell said they got their's from Tractor Supply for *$300 out the door* (3 years ago). (???) The current price for these (the equivalent new version of this one) is *$1,209* and Lowe's, though you can find one *"cheap"* for *$966* at Lowe's. Man!!.... That "inflation" thing I've been hearing about is a b%tch!

      I got a second one used for about $80 at the same store about 1 or 2 months ago. Inflation is really affecting a lot of us and things have doubled or tripled in the past few years. The welder I bought was about $2500 or $2700 and today its about $4200. Spray paint in town ranges from $8.49 to $13.99 for what I use and saw some cans over $15. Well thanks for stopping by.
