Amped 2 is still the absolute king of snowboarding games. Such a shame they massacred the controls and physics in Amped 3 chasing after the SSX crowd. Amped 1 is still good, but a bit janky in the physics department compared to 2. Still playing Amped 2 on Steam Deck in 720p with Xemu to this day (Had it on Xbox since day 1 in 2003). Shredders is amazing too, mainly for its sublime physics, but it would benefit if they cut out the stupid 'story' and put in a solid career/unlock path. It's a great sim, but a lacking 'game'. If they ever make a sequel, it'd be fantastic if they really fleshed out that aspect and retained the brilliant physics and terrain design. Steep was a huge miss for me - no prewind or rails... wtf? Riders Republic was an improvement but the control system and physics were too shallow for any lasting appeal. Infinite Air was such a wasted opportunity. It has decent physics, but the controls aren't intuitive and there's near zero actual content past a barren open world mountain to explore. Shredders makes it totally obsolete nowadays. As far as SSX is concerned - different category of game IMO. Had an absolute blast with SSX 3 and Tricky especially. Played a lot of On Tour on PSP, but it's just reskinned content from the previous games. Great games but comparing them to Amped and Shredders is like comparing Burnout to Gran Turismo. IMO the earlier pre-2000 titles are on the whole too dated to be more than nostalgic curios these days, with the possible exceptions of Coolboarders 3, 1080 and Steep Slope Sliders on the Saturn.

SSX and 1080 were revolutionary, and then the Wii and mobile just killed the genre, with motion controls and bad frame rates, into the decrepit state it is today.

Amped 2 is my favorite. I've been playing Shredders and so far I like the gameplay, environment, and controls. I think the UI menus need some work.
