There is nothing better than a summer's morning or late evening float fishing for tench on a picturesque lake or pond. It's the sort of fishing that dreams are made of. Real Mr. Crabtree fishing. And it's always nice to see someone else muck up a throw of ground bait that misses the spot by yards ;-))... It makes the rest of us feel better about ourselves 8-))...
Lovely. Proof that you can have good fishing without bombs, irritating alarms and a van full of tackle. Then again, I’d always fish like this and be happy to fail (perhaps not all the time!) rather than sound the air raid siren every ten minutes. Lovely work both of you.
@@peterlewis8040 I had a walk around the grounds this spring, my god is it a beautiful place. Its a national trust. 5 quid to non members. Got feedback on my current position. I'm 53rd and they only allow 200 members at a time and current members get chance to renew first which is only fair.
Absolutely love the mist lifting on a summers morning. Takes me back to Cardiff as a teenager at St y nyll pond. It's a much smaller venue, but utterly magical. To make it even more special, I moved to the midlands and am priveleged to be able to fish dudmaston.
It was a privilege to fish next to you on the Riverfest at Hereford James, well done on winning and qualifying for the final. That was high quality whip fishing. Thanks for lending me a cattypult! Found mine in the car after 🙄
A lovely venue I had the pleasure of fishing a few years ago as a guest of my mate Neil Wade who died a couple of years ago of pancreatic cancer. We had some lovely tench up to 5lbs or so. We were feeder fishing.
A beautiful video bud 😊....I've had brilliant days on the old style float ledgering for bream/tench...perfect on a really windy day.... never failed to catch 😊
James, what a lovely setting to catch some great Tench. Chappie great camera work again you have a great eye for nature. Takes me back to my youth fishing for Tench on some lovely club waters. The method was the Peacock quill attached bottom only with a rubber or two and waiting for the float to lift. Ver happy days.
My mouth was watering, and hands were twitching just getting through the intro music, what an absolutely stunning lake! Those three tinca were beautiful fish James. This is my style of fishing, nothing like this method and a lake like this to let the world float away for a few hours, very well done.
i still love to fish tench on a swing tip ..and dare i say it the lift float..the old methods still work as well as anything .... i love the swing tip .. !!!

1 of my favourite ways of fishing. Reminds me of fishing in the mid to late 80s as a kid. A 3lb tench seemed massive back then. Hairy moments when you have a 1.7 bottom on to a size 20.

@@cadencefishinguk I was speaking about videos in general. After prancing up and down a river in waders, flicking a fly here and there, I think watching a float is one of those mesmerising relaxations, like those rare times you get a long drift on a dry fly before drag sets in.
Hi James nice to see some proper fishing I'm sick to my teeth of carp carp carp every ones gone crazy about them . were did you say i can get some of those floats you used . Regards Trev .
Hello James, I'm always curious about your approach to waggler fishing compared to us other "French"! the junction of the main line and the leader as the choice of the length of this one! you never use a homemade leader? Thanks see you soon
Cracking film. Drake floats are my go too float. There superb. Getting a bit hard too find locally. I havnt done a single session for the tench this year . Havnt done a session on birkacre for two years. May have too have a look. Nice film ian 😊
Recently retired and getting kit together to start fishing again next spring. Noticed you almost always flick the rod after casting, why is that? Thanks great video
I know what you mean when you call Rudd pesky but I caught a half pounder on the Trent on Tuesday ,I have fished the Trent for over fifty years and it was a first, a really beautiful fish ,I also had twenty pounds of roach ,great fishing, thanks for the wonderful videos James.
Great video enjoyed that. That's the same hook length knot you use in use for my droppers when fly fishing way better and stronger than other similar knots r.e water knot etc
@@cadencefishinguk you'd expect it to go dead once the sun cleared the trees on a morning like that one but what's not to like, beautiful place and quality fishing 👍
Hi James yet another really nice and very very watchable video. I know you said it on this video but what is the split shot you use that doesn't generally damage the line? There's so many out there.
Ryan Smith .... good to see an angler just letting the wildlife get on with its life. I remember a day on a backwater of the river Nene at Peterborough where it took me a best part of the day to make friends with a female swan to the point where she was feeding out of my hand. How did he get out to where he is sitting? I am always surprised that fishermen seem to re construct a whole business office when fishing, they could motorise it and drive the whole suit to the lake .
Graham Nash Hi Graham, we only had a limited time to fish that morning and the weather got seriously hot very quickly. With the heat + bright conditions I don’t think we would have caught many more fish. Anyway I do love quick sessions like that in the summer 👍

Brilliant I love a nice tench 😊
So nice to see an unspoiled Tench lake. The sort of fishing that makes the most of the early morning starts
This is what I love about fishing, not only the fishing.. but the setting. Stunning! Now where's my rod?!
Love for the sport
Proper Tench fishing on the float, none of this scaled down Carp fishing with bolt rigs that has become so popular these days
One of the best float fishing videos I have ever seen. From the music to the presentation and the photography, it was a delight. Well done.
The age old saying keeping it simple, andthis guy always, always does absalute pleasure to watch and what a beautiful setting 👍👍
What a cracking, well paced and presented video with very little merchandising.
Been on the waiting list of this place for 5 years, can't wait to get on it!

Fascinating to see fishing from a paltform. I thought tench were wary. I fish fly for trout so this is a totally new sight for me
