This video is so amazing considering how much effort you have done to make this such a great and interesting experience to watch. I am flying this exact route with the airline and aircraft about six times every year and ever since I watched this video, I have been given the opportunity to sit in the cockpit during the entire flight. It amazes me how your knowledge about this aircraft and the preperations on beforehand is compared to how it's actually done in a real situation. I really hope that you, some day, will find yourself recording more videos like this or share some flights! Thanks
Best turboprop simulator ever made, congratulations to the Majestic developers.
Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial. It did help to land my MJC8Q400 for the first time successfully. As a non native speaker of English I in particular appreciate your clear voice and the calm way you explain in a pace I can follow. I've seen tutorials from other experts, but they were far to fast in speaking and pointing at buttons and switches. Thanks again, great job!
Nice work. I've had this plane for years now and it's still my fav.
This is without doubt one if the very best Flight Sim YT videos I have ever seen.
Extremely professional and informative +1
This is the first video of yours I have seen and thought it was excellent. I am a new fan and will be watching for more new ones after I check out your available older ones.
Nice work.
Jerry
Jerry HondaJet Thanks Jerry!
I actually like how you do your videos, feel very professional and well made, the way you speak gives me a feel of the videos we're shown at work on the real thing! Really enjoy your videos, please keep it up!
Sam Cooper Thanks very much Sam. Really appreciated!
Just bought this software. Enjoyed your video very much. You've brought all the salient 'teaching points' together wonderfully. I am sure I will be viewing this again for 'instruction/help'... Thanx so much for your effort to help others!
Oh wow. The quality of this video has blown me away. Something to strive toward in my own videos. Thanks for your work putting this together!
One of the best flightsim vids seen so far. A very good tutorial on how to use FS2Crew for the dash8 as well. Thanks a lot
Neil, one of the best videos I ever seen . Thank you very much!
BillKastanakis Thanks a lot Bill.
Really well done. I especially liked the FMS explanations for the Q400 (and the freeware Norwegian scenery).
Thanks Chris, Airports of Norway is incredible. That and FTX Norway and you can't go wrong!
Another great job and well thought out unlike 90% of the sim TH-cam videos out there including some with the word "tutorial" in the title. Why did you stop making videos ? Your videos are very informative and are a asset to the community. I don't know what is happening in your life, maybe something terrible, or complex. But eventually things will settle down, life will seem normal again. When that happens, I hope you think about doing more flight sim videos. Take care...
I often get a lot of comments on why I 'stopped' making videos. These videos were incredibly time consuming to make and with a Full-time job and family the time really wasn't there to continuing making them. I'm really proud of the videos that are there and I really appreciate all the comments (I read them all!). Enjoy your PMDG 747's everyone ;)

What a beautiful plane and your video did it operational justice as well. I'll be getting into flight simming very soon...don't think I'll start off with this one though as I hear it's pretty complicated to fly. As a side note my late uncle worked for DeHavilland as a proud builder of the Dash 8 many years ago, so this brings back fond memories of him.
Go for it! The Q400 took me only short of three weeks to master - yet I find it to be the most fun and rewarding plane of my collection (A320, 737, 777, 747).
Okay, you convinced me! Should I get the cheapest version or is the pro version better?
I just bought this wonderful addon, so i am absolut new to this. I also use Ezdok, Track IR and FS2Crew. Let me say, that your Video is the best tutorial I´ve ever seen and makes it so much easier to learn flying this awesome bird.
Werner
I would like to add my thanks for a job well done! I only recently started using the Q400 in P3D and I watched this video before taking my first full flight. Very informative and easy to listen to as well. I downloaded and added Airports of Norway which is great with FTX as you said. Thoroughly enjoying the Dash 8 and the transition to it was definitely made easier by this video.
Just found your channel today, this is the first video I watched and it was awesome! Keep it up dude, I look forward to seeing more.
Lovely video, very informative they way you narrate it. One of my favourite Q400 tutorial videos for sure!
Great video, thanks for taking the time putting it together. Best Q400 vid i've seen so far.
...absolutely top drawer, looking forward to you next and future videos.
Awesome video, just picked up the Dash-8 Q400 today, just hope I can learn to fly it half as well as you did. Very nice.
WOW such a nice and clear video. Very teaching. Thank you so much sir for the time that you put into this for us. my APPRECIATION.
Absolutely splending-thanks!
As a Norwegian i gotta say that i'm impressed by the way you say Kristiandsand and Trondheim. Most people outside Scandinavia would probably sa Kristiansand as Kransiand or something😂 BTW love your videos! Just wish you would upload more, but i gotta be happy with what i get.
*Kristiansand
Johannes Werp Vegheim haha thanks! I actually listened to people pronouncing it on TH-cam before I made the video. Nothing more annoying than mispronouncing a place name! Glad it paid off!
Spot on video! Learnt some useful stuff about the FMS that will come in handy :) Thanks!
the best tutorial I've ever seen
Greetings from Naples
Hey mate, What a great watch, top job. Matt like's it, Majestic just linked to it. way you go. Good for you Neil.
Cheers Dave! Thanks for the Headsup on the Majestic Facebook page. Really happy they linked to it. I passed 500 subs today :)
FightOrFlight You deserver it mate graz
I love the noise these engines make.
Great, would love to see a continue of this from Trondheim up to Bodo
kimbonzky Duly noted! thanks for the comment. I'll see what I can do... ;)
Great, keep up the good work
I miss you 😁👍 Miss the Majestic Q400 as well but I know thats coming to MSFS soon. One out of two ain't bad...
In one word: Impeccable !
Excellent video. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Norway is my favorite too, lots of fun VOR & NDB approaches, SID's STAR's in mountainous area in IFR, with RL charts from 2006-7. That I handfly. To bad MJQ400 won't recognize all NDB's when all other aircrafts will. Nice vidd:)
Hi,I've both enjoyed and learned a lot from this video, well done(and as an added bonus no ridiculous backround music that so many see fit to add) On the basis of this video I think I must get FS2Crew very soon, I hope it will still work in the MJC Q400 'Pro' version when it's released.
Good stuff dude thanks for getting me try to recreate this route Nice job
+Oscar Hey How did it go? :)
Well i dont ftx so ;( yeah my Er pc lags With ftx😭
+Oscar Hey Oh man this english is bad lol
Nice video. Good to see you are using my checklist ;-)
Thanks Bastiaan! I'm actually using a checklist based off ones created by Mark Wolpert on the AVSIM library. He didn't create a Q400 one so I had to make my own. Do you have a similar one?
FightOrFlight Mark based his checklists on mine. I have made condensed FS2Crew checklists for the Q400 and the NGX in the past. You can download them from here:
www.dropbox.com/s/d1wzhsnydzzci3e/CHECKLIST%20FS2CREW.pdf?dl=0
www.dropbox.com/s/xy9t7rs2z8xe90l/q400flows.pdf?dl=0&m=
Bastiaan Veldjesgraaf Wow! Sorry, I had no idea. I remember having a load of checklists at one point and even starting a new one in Word but that Q400 checklist is exactly the same as the one I'm using! Thanks a lot Bastiaan, I use it for every flight!
No problem. I'm just happy to see other people using it.
Just subscribed to your channel BTW, so keep making those entertaining videos!
Fantastic vid mate, and thanks for the link to AON.
A lovely plane, and a lovely video, thanks
Wonderful video... am intending to purchase the aircraft soon. Thank you!
SUPERB video. really enjoyed it
Hi ,I found this video to be one of the best I have seen on the Dash8, I very much like your relaxed and unhurried style and I learnt a few new things (APPR) I hope that you'll be doing one on the Majesic Dash8 'PRO' when it's released 5* stars from me.
Thanks David and yes I plan on doing one for the pro version too. Really looking forward to its release!
Excellent ! Superb video!
Very interested !!! Really nice video !!!!
The best tutorial on youtube! Easily!!!!
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is from Kristiansund ❤🖤
Thanks for the video. Really informative
Wonderful. A lovely plane, and a lovely video - you got yourself a sub c:
Nice video, but if i may suggest. When you do a GPu startup, normally when you bring the batteries online, you should turn on one of the MFD's and display the electrical page. Even if connected to the ground crew, this is the only way to dually confirm that the GPU is indeed connected to the plane. It can happen that the GPU is connected but does not show up on the ELEC page of the MFD. just my 5 cents
Thank you for the video it helped me to handle this plane !
One of the Dash8 Q400 restrictions is to do the StartUp at the gate and then execute the push-back! ;)
Thanks for the comment Peter. No doubt there are a few different ways depending on SOPs. The Majestic tutorial tells the user to start the engines like in the video. The 'advanced' delivery flight tutorial has the user starting #2 first then starting pushback and starting #1. If you've got any documentation to link to, I'd highly appreciate it!
Thanks for the video. What is the script for Vspeed you mention at 15:20?
Thank you for this nice tutorial !!
What was the checklist you were using. Where did you get it? I couldn't find one like that on fs2crew's website. If anyone could answer thanks!
Thank you for the video, it helps massively!! I have a few suggestions though (or more like a main one):
You should - for tutorials - not use FS2Crew, because the FO takes alot of work away from the player. Especially for beginners (like me) it'd be really useful if you could show all the steps required to operate the aircraft. For example from this guide now it's completely unclear how to start the engine, since the FO has done that and you gave no explanation. Then again, this is in the manual, but just for thoroughness you should show a bit more. Of course I'd just be able to buy FS2Crew, but I think alot of people are interested in learning all the steps and buttons and not just handing it off to the FO (even though its more realisitc).
You explain what you do very well, but from time to time you skip a few things. For example (if the first officer hadent told you) where you'd find the ice detection. I watched that segment of the video a couple of times and still have no idea. Maybe I'm just blind :P
Anyways: you should really keep up the good work!
great video!
What was the tool you used to calculate the V1 V2 VR which put these figures in automatically .Thank-you. Useful video.
Hello! Thank you for sharing your flights, I learned a lot! I am very interested from where you got the FS2CREW flow checklist? Because it looks like the awesome Flow Checklists from Mark wolpert. I use his checklists for the 737 and 777 but could not find it for the dash... if there is one?
Wow bro thank you! Youre a life saver!
Very professionally video style, I like it and therefor subbed :-D
BTW: I noticed that you didn't set the QNH or std. pressure in the standby altimeter before the departure. Was there a reason behind that?
Another question I have is why you stopped short of the hold short line when exiting the runway. Technically speaking when you stand there you are still on the runway and have not vacated yet. I'd always cross over the hold short line when exiting the runway before coming to a stop on the taxiway.
Hello! Great video, thanks very much for sharing! Do you think it is possible to make a flight in the Azores Islands? The Dash8 Q400 is the aircraft used for transportation between the 9 islands of the Azorean Archipelago. I think it would be very challenging for you! Maybe from Lajes(LPLA) to Pico(LPPI).
Thanks in advance!
This is a great video! Thanks a lot! How do you get this smooth spot plane view? I have P3D v3 and with majestic's q400 I get a stucking and unrealistic camera view.
hi,
in 15:40, may I know how to call out function LUA display
where to donwload LUA and how to embded to FSUIPC
have a sample for reference, thank you!
Hi mate, great vid!! Can you tell me how you get English voices enabled in GSX? I run FSX with the latest version of GSX but only have the option of the generic voice set? Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)
How did you do the checklist and the flightplan popup in fsx?
Myanmar Flyer
I'm also interested by the answer.
Excellent video and very nice job done. Many thanks for this file-sharing
Marc MANANDISE PDF kneeboard.
Why dont i get any approach callouts (GPWS) 50,40,30,20,10? What did i do wrong?
very good video. it is not often to find a youtuber with this kind of knowledge. Found you through Matt Davies sharing this video on his twitter. Will definitely subscribe
what is the fsuipc program fightorflight talks about at 15:30?
Great video thanks!
could you link the v speed script please?
I have found it here. www.dropbox.com/s/h8btvrixzcxiwf2/Q400VSpeeds.rar
Hi, great video (you can tell if Matt comments on it that it is) but could you maybe not use FS2Crew for tutorials, especially for things like engine starts, as u didn't show how they did those.
Very nice. Love how you make all the different add-ons flow together in a seemless fashion. Not an easy feat. Are you using Track IR for looking around in the cockpit?
simakperrce Thanks for the kind words! Yes, I use TrackIR and EZDOK. Every Flight Sim channel on TH-cam has at least *one* TrackIR/EZDOK video...so expect one soon ;)
FightOrFlight Yeah, apart from Track IR I have pretty much the same setup as you, including EZDOK. One question, though: where did you get the checklist PDF from? Is it from Majestic or FS2Crew? I have seen it somewhere in the past but I can't find it anymore. With the airplane add-on there are only normal checklists which don't cover all the steps.
Fabulous video - enjoyed every second of it! I found your sounds for GSX abit different than the standard, may I ask how you got those sounds? Cheers, Norwegian :)
Just download majestic dash 8 because I'm a privet pilot now and I have my eyes on a regional airline as pilot. I made the download and things were working fine up until I tried to take the aircraft out. When clicked on the plane to put it on the home screen FSX would shut down and close. IM NOT A COMUTER GUY and I would like to know what computer you have so I fly this great airplane. Love the video and please get back to me.
Wow, awesome video :) I am happy I discoverd you, keep it up.
May I ask what kind of peripherals you are using?
What's the fps on this thing like? Does it require administrator approval to run? And fps compared to the Duke? I'm trying to research to see if it is worth it
why did you turn off batteries after connecting to gpu a real dash pilot that was flying for EuroLot made series of videos (in polish but with eng subs) named virtual tr for dash 8 q400 his channel name is egp23p and he never switched off batteries after connecting gpu
Are you by any chance a voice actor for FS2Crew? Your voice sounds identical to the EU soundpack of the FS2Crew PMDG 737
Haha, that's me ;)
Thank you.. Great stuff!!
great video man can you post the checklist that you are using ?
+Ege Konuk do you have dash 8?
Can you tell me which AI package you use in Prepar3D, is it Ulitimate Traffic 2, if so how did you install it.
hello Matt, my i ask have you got the pro now?
im so confused :( the stearing is fuced up.. and i wish it was able to reset the plane to normal (like before)
stearing with yoke or best of all pedals.. any tips?
Superb sim and scenery. Just one small problem with the "Airports of Norway". Yes its free ware and is meant for P3d v3, however in the install instructions (all installed manually) it states to add the airports to the Add On scenery folder, which has been changed in P3d v3. This no longer exists. Also you have to download and install (overwrite) the FTX scenery. So I will pass on the freeware scenery.
if a have fsx se on cd, can i download planes from internet??
I forgot to open the engine intakes for the copilot, I didn't know he was gone ☺
Very nice video! What computer system are you using please?
Superb Video! Just what I have been looking for as been shying away from using FS2Crew for the Dash. One question is the checksheet you are using, did you write it? Or is it part of the FS2Crew?
Paul Berry Just read the comment from Baastian, He made the checklist.
hi there need some help if youre able im trying to setup fs2crew p3d version but cant fine no videos no where and i have the registard version of fpsuic wich is no help cant set that one either ty in advance
+Gilles Lagace I recently fixed mine after several days, what's wrong with yours?
just trying to setup lol
Can you recommend a regional rutboprop for FSX which is decently made (can be payware) buthas classic instrumentation and gauges, not this digital PFD/MFD mess?
juk123 45 you could check out the carenado b1900D, been flying it and it is great fun!
+FlightOrFlight
Which version of P3D do you use?
hey nice tutorial can you send me the ofp format for pfpx please?
one small question...You use SGSS with inspector? Thanks!
can you tell me how to have those documents on display during your video?
+Christopher Fuller It's called PDF Kneeboard. Have a google for it :)
the dash 8 wont follow the route help
very nice video, i wonder though how you get this nice camera angles?
are you using ezdok?
again congrats.., very helpfull
ivo
Nice Video! Can you tell me which addon did you use for the ATIS-Voice? Thanks, Harry
