I love that unique sound of the Dash 8.
Dont we all lol… now people that know little to nothing about aviation and dont fly aircraft it can be odd and if u fear flying as a passenger it definitely makes noises that fuck with people im sure many have thought they were in trouble when u hear climb power being set so quick after gears up especially busy airports the baby dash and Q get early turns a lot .. when really its one of the safest planes in my opinion , the runway does like to hit u though sometimes but the sound when the power levers go into disc its great love the after landing flow too
I was having a hard time in my Landings in a Q400, this video somewhat gave me a better idea on how to land better, thanks

I flew on a Dash 8 Q400 from Southampton to Glasgow a few years back. I was amazed at the rate of acceleration on takeoff. I do like this aircraft and the sound of those PW turboprops.

Short haul flights, mean a lot of take-offs and landings, hence a lot of after landing switchings.
@@TheSithTeacher I was more looking forward to hearing some profound answers than obvious things.
Looks like engine switch normal (instead of relight), maybe yaw dampener off, landing and strobe lights off, taxi lights on, APU start on and then cleanup of autopilot settings and altimeter settings
After landing flow is what it’s called: main bus tie, ice protection off. Landing lights off, anti collision off. Retract spoilers. Yaw damp off. HSI right. Flaps up. Aux pumps off.
He was slick, he’s obviously been flying this plane for a while

Hey excellent video, especially for me as a Q400 PIC in P3D Flightsimulator :-)! One more thing, why are the windshield wipers moved to this position when landing?
Thankyou very much! Thats a good question, i was also wondering about that! But they stayed in this postion the whole flight.
@@OnboardTv Creates less wind noise when they are "streamlined" like that I believe.
