    Once Tao got 3 games to 1, he let his foot off the gas and played so casually. The formidable RPB in previous 4 games, started misfiring. At this level, if you give your opponents breathing space, it's hard to regain the edge.

    • @SuperSlewman
      @SuperSlewman ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There was a subtle and effective change from the opponent. He started hitting slower,loopier spin backhands into the RPB. Toa was too good on the quick fire rallies. smart player.

      I feel the key is the serve... when it is 1:3, Zhang's reverse spin to short forehand is the key. Tao could not handle that serve well, It is hard for him to open using banana loop. Once Tao pushes, Zhang will backhand loop to Tao's forehand. If you count, in last 3 games, Zhang use this tactic to win at least 3-5 points each game! Till the end, Tao do not know how to handle it. Tao win each points so beautifully. Zhang just staring there and he could not even touch the ball. But Tao loses points so casually. I do not know why. I like the way Tao play for sure but Zhang wins the match

      Tao should have win, he should finish it at once and not give the opponent huggle for another next 2 rounds.

      Tao's shot style is pretty cool like Wang Hao, but the score rate of shot is not much high especially last 3 games. Zhang's style is more stable

    Tao lost focus. Generally an experienced campaigner like him should be able to handle it but perhaps not competing regularly makes you lose that edge.

      @@LosAngelesTableTennis At 1:45, the person in white clothes made a comeback shot, and the ball went in. However, it resulted in a point for the person in black clothes. Why did the person in black clothes score instead of the person in white clothes? The score should be 2:0, not 1:1.

      It has a few pieces of tape here and there, but it's definitely one of the nicer clubs out here in so cal. Definitely beats non-rubber flooring.

      @@LosAngelesTableTennis I would imagine, yes. I am constantly looking for the best shoes for table tennis and right now I am using a superlight pair of adidas adizero takumi sen v1 which weighs 170 grams. I feel that the normal table tennis shoes like the mizuno ones are too heavy and bulky, but they grip better. So, depending on the color of the floor where I am playing I will use those shoes to grip better. I have also started experimenting with barefoot shoes from vivobarefoot, namely the Primus Light III. So far, I feel they are a great middle ground, but their lateral support comes from the widening of the toebox, so it takes a long time to get used to playing with them and you risk getting knee injuries and such if you dont ease into it. The achilles tendon might also get inflamed if you dont gradually work your way into using shoes like this because of the sole of the shoe having zero drop.

      Sometimes it does seem like that, given how popular California has historically been with people from China, and the relatively high percentage of population of Chinese people, it's easy for top Chinese players to move to America and teach us how to play table tennis their way.
