    Two things about the wormdrive saws since they came to market-
    • Brand new, you should run it for 20 minutes, and then change the oil. The gears are new…and haven’t been run much. They leave shavings in the oil which should be discarded for fresh oil to remove those shavings.
    • Per the manual, the original and Mag 77 need to be warmed up prior to daily job site duty. This is especially important in cold weather. When I say warmed up, I mean running the saw for ten minutes.
    It may not seem like much, but these two things along with regular maintenance, will keep these saws running for decades.

    Thanks for posting, I just picked a hd77 up recently and hadn't thought to check if they filled it with oil. Heading out to the shop now!

      Not sure about that. Did you get to run the saw any at all to kinda break in the brushes? I know it absolutely shouldn't be required but...

    Get the Makita, they don't need oil top ups or even check if they have oil out of the box.

    11 lbs? Might explain why framers have big biceps. I have the worm drive table saw, but haven't bothered to get a WD circular saw.

    • @pmtips4482
      @pmtips4482  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly, 11.5 pounds and its considered the lightest WD circular saw. The aluminum 77 model weighs in at 14.5 pounds! Dayum!

      Hello, that sounds like the brushes doing their job. The sparks will settle down after some use, they wear in a little.

      James, with saw in right hand, looking down from top, 1.5 inches on left side from blade to base edge, 3.5 inches on right side.
      Let me know if that helps.

      Dewalt does not have worm drive. The blade is just oriented like a work drive saw.

    What other kinds of oil can be used? Can 3 in 1 be used?

    • @pmtips4482
      @pmtips4482  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't go that route. 3 in 1 is very light oil. Stay with OEM.

      Skil oil is about US$6 for an 8 fl. oz. tube. (240 mL.) That is a little more than enough for the new saws.
