Plumbing Components and Anti-Theft Strips DON'T FORGET
Use caution when buying bagged or boxed fittings and various components for plumbing jobs. Many contain the little strips in the packaging to stem the theft epidemic taking place in all box stores, and as this trend continues...the theft protection measures will only grow out of necessity.
It's easy to overlook these small deterrent devices.
Get in the habit of checking and double checking your components before installation.

Decisions decisions...do we keep our engine cover or give it a toss? I like them on an engine, as long as they are super easy to pop off and snap back on, why not keep them. After all, they do indeed make the under hood area a little quieter. The rubber cones on the underside will last for years, if silicone is sprayed on them now and then...they'll last longer than the car. Thanks for watching...

30 Year Old Water Heater T&P Valve LEAK THRU plus Thread Chase Tap

We change out a leaking temperature and pressure (T&P) relief valve and very carefully run a 3/4 inch 14 TPI NPT tap to clean up the threads on the water heater. We test 8 year old original brake fluid in a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup truck. We use the very affordable Autool AS506 boiling point tester and two digital conductance testers. We use both digital conductive testers and a very affordable Autool AS506 boiling point tester on this 2008 Honda Civic. This brake fluid is 4 years old and caught us by surprise as it clearly failed even the minimum "wet" boiling point of 140 celsius (284 F). In this case, we suspect the reservoir cap to be at fault.
