The more you go deep in Indian culture and history the more you will discover something New. Though born and raised in India I still feel shocked knowing things not known before. There are many layers in Indian history, culture and civilization. When we think we have known everything seeing its first layer then someday the second layer opens up and we are just mesmerised thinking Does this really happened!
Most people be in India or any other Country only sees the first layer. Few people sees the second layer. Rare are the ones who gets the glimpse of the third and forget about the next layers. And India having a long history where some historians claiming lakh years based on some evidence then things get complicated!!!!

"Tri-Kala Thalam" (Inspired by Arunagirinathar) which is Kanda Ekam in 2 kalai (10) + Chathusra Ekam in 1 kalai (4) + Thisra Ekam in Half Kalai (1.5). - from the original video description.
It's basically 15.5 beats per cycle. in Western time signatures would be known as 31/16: a sum of 20/16 (two bars of 5 beats), 8/16 (one bar of 4 beats, played in double time), and 3/16 (half a bar of 6 beats played in quadruple time). Konnakol on kanjira is INCREDIBLY difficult to follow, especially with composite, complex, odd-numbered talams like this one.

Marathi, Odiya, Kannada and Telegu cultures have always seemed to me like an amalgam of North and South. The proportions may vary but they are all touched by both regions.

Kanjira has a very high pitch sound. to introduce more bass, water is sprinkled on the inside. (You can see small pots in front of each person) . And since it is very susceptible to moisture, players usually 2-3 spare ones handy.

Your channel is special because the kind of culture and art you are exposed to, it is unknown to half of your Indian subscribers. You are exposed to the unknown and consequently, Indians themselves come to know more of their country. Thank you from the bottom of my heart 🙏

Hi Rick and korbin, I didn't think you'd react to this link I posted on your Twitter, thanks guys!! I didn't think you guys would even notice!
Here's some interesting things about this instrument. This instrument is made from monitor lizard skin and the left hand with which they hold the instrument is also used to alter the pitch of the instrument. Listen carefully the instrument is not just maintaining time, it is also singing on a scale! Something else you should know is that carnatic music is older than hindustani music. The language of rhythm is called konnakol, let me introduce you to konnakol sometime soon, you guys would freak out I am sure!!
